I will say at first I was disappointed at the outcome of my hair styling, looking back I'm not sure why other than not really being used to my hair up in a fancy do. I've been going to Drybar locations for years in different cities and have always had great experiences until this visit. I was in town for a conference and booked my 9:00 a.m. appointment a week in advance. My friend also booked for 9:00 a.m., but she received a call saying her appointment was completely canceled because they were understaffed. They offered her noon instead, but our conference started at 11:00, so that wasn't possible. They called me next and asked to move my appointment from 9:00 to 9:15 due to the same staffing issue. I agreed, arrived promptly at 9:00, and waited patiently. At 9:15, one of the stylists finished her client I assumed I'd be next. Instead, she went to the back, returned briefly to chat with another stylist, and then disappeared again. By 9:30, no one had even started my service. When I finally asked if I'd be seen soon, the stylist said, "Yeah, just as soon as she's done," with no sense of urgency or apology. At that point, I felt completely stuck my conference was approaching, and I'd already wasted 30 minutes. The service and communication were unprofessional and disappointing, especially from a brand that usually prides itself on reliability and customer care. I truly hope management addresses the staffing and scheduling issues so other customers don't have the same experience. read more

I was in town for the weekend and didn't want to bother doing my own hair and thought I would treat myself to a blowout. While I don't, this often I was excited to feel pretty for the weekend. This isn't exactly what happened. The young woman who did my hair could not have been nicer. The issue was that the blowout only lasted until dinner. My event was the next day, and I had to redo my hair. Having had it just cut by my regular stylist and the blowout lasted 5 days. I did reach out to the salon, and they offered me an add-on service. I travel for work and have visited MANY Drybar locations throughout the US and manager Charis at Walnut Creek was incredible. I have very thick, coarse hair and she listened and did my mai tai perfectly and consistently, two mornings in a row. She also managed to bust them out in under 45 mins where most Drybar stylists take an hour on my hair due to it's thickness. The salon was clean and everyone seemed really nice. Waiting for 15 additional minutes for my appointment to start. Ironic since drybar has such a long list of policies for tardiness on behalf of your clients. Having birthday dinner reservations, no time to waste! Asked for Hollywood curls and got flat no waves, no curls of any sort. Wasted $ 80 dollars and time. I had to wait 45 min for my appointment. My two other friends experienced the exact same thing when they went here. Absolutely terrible. Drove about an hour for my appointment since this was the closest location, got started right on time - 9am. The website says on average they take 45 minutes so I scheduled my makeup appointment down the street at 1015 thinking we would be done by then. My appointment took an hour and 45 minutes. The girl was nice the entire time and seemed new because she kept going over ever product and offering me a membership, and she then offered to pin my hair since my event wasn't until later, that way when it's time to go I just let down my hair and I'm ready - I wouldn't need to do anything. I try to go to makeup appointment just in the hopes someone can still help me and within minutes of walking my pins were already falling out. Thank goodness because I got to see what my hair looked like and I was speechless. I am showing the time on my picture so you can see it was only 30 minutes after I left that my hair looked like a disaster. I missed my makeup appointment, wasted hours driving, spent $60 just to have to redo my hair. She put so much product in that it was crunchy. Overall terrible. Plus no champagne. Was my first and last Drybar experience. I was really really looking forward to it too since I rarely get to do any self care or have alone time after having my daughter. I had my first blowout this past weekend and will absolutely not be returning. My appointment was scheduled for 2:15 and I was not called back until 2:55pm. During the service, I saw several customers leave, including one woman next to me who got a wash and the stylist forgot her in the chair and never returned to do her blow dry (the experience was painful to watch because the customer service was so horrible and they did nothing to apologize or correct their mistake). My stylist was very nice but she was exhausted because they were so overbooked and she had no time to take a break in between appointments. Another employee informed me that the owners/managers will book appointments in 45 minute slots, even though they know that the services take an hour +. After expressing my concerns to the receptionist, we were given an email address for a manager which (no shocker) bounced back. Super disappointed. read more

They wouldn't not even greet me when I walked into the salon, and made it seem like I was bothering them. I would be reprimanded if I didn't put "curly hair" in the notes so they could block more time.... And I didn't because when I did provide those details, they appeared to argue over who "had" to take my appointment when I arrived. This was my first time at Drybar, came for my bday to get a blowout since I normally do them myself. I have curly hair, 3c curls and the lady that did my hair was nice but there wasn't a thorough consultation. I feel like the stylist was maybe in a rush and took large sections which in the end my roots were still curly and my hair got super poofy and frizzy just 10 min after leaving the salon. I'm now having to look for another salon to fix my hair for my bday because this is not the desired result I was hoping for :( read more

I was finally taken for my appointment 50 mintues after I arrived which I learned is pretty typical. No apology or acknowledgment of the delay-- the manager & front desk person were so unprofessional and profoundly disinterested in getting customers handled. They seemed inconvenienced. Went here for a blowout. Arrived about 10 minutes early and was not greeted or acknowledged - finally after 15 min someone came and let me know they were ready for me. I told her a basic blowout was fine. She did my hair in like 15 -20 minutes and during that time I took a nap. I woke up and she was done - she literally then walked away without a word it was weird. I went up to counter to pay and the lady that did my hair was no where to be seen. Again waited 10 minutes to pay. During that time I realized I left my sunglasses at the ladies station. Each of them is not only kind and detail-oriented but also incredibly efficient with blowouts. I would say save the money or support your local shop. They were very nice but I was incredibly disappointed. Usually when my hair is washed, it can last up to a week, I had to wash it the very next day. It was like a big mess, the extensions weren't dried all the way at the base, it was hair sprayed while being semi damp which created the mess. The lady was very nice but states she had been working with extensions for 20 plus years so I assumed the extensions would be dry. I asked her to tease it to hide the showing extensions from the way she styled it, instead it was backcombed with still seeing the extensions on the sides. I was just thoroughly disappointed because I thought I'd leave loving it. There also was not much of an actual hair wash. Again, she was very nice, although I also wasn't offered any sort of beverage, which a glass of champagne would've atlleast made it a little more bearable. read more

The owner of this franchise location should be embarrassed of the way the staff is running this location. I had an appointment at 4:45PM on Saturday October 14th. At 4:50 asked if they knew how much longer it would be. I am a very prompt/early person. If you are on time, you are late. I would never arrive late to any appointment without calling at least five minutes ahead of to inform the person of my tardiness. I was told "oh you know, it's Saturday". Um, no I don't know. What I do know is I scheduled my appointment in accordance with an event was going that evening. The receptionist started conversing with a stylist who it seemed would be working on me. She had a young lady sitting in her chair who she started blaming her tardiness on; "She had snot of hair"...This poor high schooler/college kid looked mortified. I talked to the manager who also said "some people have a lot of hair", when I asked about the delay. I asked why they didn't call to tell me I would be delayed. They just kept saying "it's Saturday" and "we are doing the best we can". I'm sorry, that's not acceptable when people come here to get ready for events. I finally left at 5:05 and went home to do my own hair. Dear owner, you should probably clean house and start over. This isn't how a Dry Bar should be. read more
