I've been a Barfly member for a while now and really quite frustrated with this location. They're always late, so disorganized. I cleared my schedule, came in for my 2:15 appointment on time, a few other guests walked in for their 2 PM appointment very late. They took them despite being so late and told me I'd have to wait until 3:15 for my appointment. Maybe at least offer me something like an upgrade or a complimentary session? Instead when I said I'd rather just cancel my session instead of waiting that long they said "We'll cancel it without a fee then." This was particularly bad - but every other time I've come here they don't follow appointment times and I end up waiting 15-20 mins despite having an appointment. I'll probably be canceling my membership given how bad the organization and service is at this location. read more

Mom and I booked appointments for wedding blow out and up-do for my brothers wedding the same day. We arrived on time, but the shop was running 20 minutes late, which made us late for our make up appointments. At the end of our service they told us they ran out of hairspray. To make the whole thing worse, within an hour of leaving the dry bar our hair fell completely flat and looked awful. (Bad enough that when we returned people asked if we missed our wedding party hair service) The shop charged us $166 for two styles, and we ultimately had to pay a different salon to fix our hair before the event at the last minute. I would not recommend these services for any occasion. read more

We had 7 appt to get our hair done for a wedding. They were down 1 employee, did not let us know. They kept taking later appt before they were done with our party. (4 people) we were going to be late to wedding so 2 people could not get their hair done. Not apologetic. Lied and said they would not take others before us. Now we are all pissed before a joyous event! These people suck and are horribly mismanaged. read more

I was coming here for years with a membership but it's not worth it. Please understand that if you have anything but straight hair, they will give you poor service. They write reviews about you on your account and pretty much speak extremely rude about you and your hair. My membership was cancelled for literally no reason (they were double charging me and when corporate got involved, they canceled my entire membership... not just the duplicate account). Spend your money somewhere else. They will not do your hair with integrity and will speak bad about you. Also, I tipped everytime no matter how badly my hair came out and they still left nasty notes on my profile. read more

The one star is for the receptionist, at least that's what I think she is, I believe she also does hair as well . This is the second time that I've gotten attitude or just negative interaction with this person. The first time was when I booked an appointment for my sister and I and they were both for a blowout and when we got there, she was telling me that one was only a blowout and the other one was a dry styling. I said nope they were both blowouts and she Got attitude about it and I decided to just settle for what she said a dry style and a blowout to make their lives easier. I didn't want to argue,at checkout she realized that I was being charged for two blowouts, therefore admitting that there was a glitch in their system and didnt know how that happened. She did apologize and gave me a discount card for a future visit, but regardless the attitude that I got for a misunderstanding on their end was very frustrating. I love the Drybar so I decided to still continue coming here . I hadn't had any issues for a long time until today. I booked an appointment online for 145 and when I got to the area, it was a little bit earlier than that. It was 120. I called the salon to see if it was OK if I popped in a little bit earlier. If not, that's OK. I'll wait the lady on the phone said nope you're perfectly fine. You can come in. I have a gap in my schedule. That'll work out really well, so I did come in and when I went to check in the same lady, that's usually up at the reception area was doing hair and asked me if I had an appt, I said yes I do at 1:45 but the person on the phone told me I can come in now because they had a gap in their schedule and she says "well I don't know who you spoke to, but we're behind and we have two clients that have been here that still need to be checked in & it's probably not going to be until closer to your appt time" I would've been totally cool with that, I work as a dog groomer so I understand being shortstaffed or being behind, but what I don't understand is the attitude and rudeness. Maybe that's just how she speaks, but it's very condescending and rude. read more

I just want to come in here and say the amount of negativity and anger people have in these reviews are outrageous ! I'm a double barfly for 3 years and come once weekly and I've had multiple girls from the location and they are amazing so heartwarming, nice, I've never felt more comfortable in my life! I've read some people complain about having to wait 15-20 or even 30 minutes but they never see their stylists sitting down or being lazy! I've been to Drybar many times, but I've never had anyone as perfect as Lali. She did an AMAZING job on my blowout -- it was everything I wanted and more. She also gave me the best hair wash I've ever had! Most stylists rush through that step, but she took her time, made sure my scalp was thoroughly cleaned, and didn't miss a single spot. This is the second time this has happened where you book an appointment online... They run a deposit on your credit card... And then you get to the salon you wait for 20 to 30 minutes to be told they're understaffed and they're going to have to move your appointment. It is the most frustrating situation, especially during a weekday when you schedule around meetings and appointments and book in advance and no one can accommodate you. They only have two stylus in there and one refused to do my hair because she had to leave. Very disappointing and will never be going back one time I understand, but when it happens more than once, it's clearly an issue with the salon. read more

Bottom line: Nia & Fuki are SUPERSTAR Stylists. But read on for more salon observations... I'll start this review by saying I have been a Drybar member for going on 10+ years. I've moved a lot throughout the Bay Area and frequented the Burlingame and Palo Alto Drybar for many of those years but now Walnut Creek is my local salon. I've always been able to find my go-to stylists at each location and for me, Nia & Fuki are my go-to's at Drybar Walnut Creek. From the moment you walk in, they are happy to see you, give you the best shampoo and scalp massages, and the styling- it's other level. They are professional and they can transform hair like no other! Every time I walk out of the salon, I don't make it more than half a block without getting compliments on my hair. On the other side of the coin, I see the low star reviews for Walnut Creek and really breaks my heart for ALL of the hard working stylists who call this location "home". There's so much talent here but operationally, they are not being setup to succeed due to lack of stylist availability and management/owners are not present. Point blank, the Drybar experience as a whole has "changed" after Alli Webb, the original founder, sold it and it was franchised out. I can tell it's not the stylists at fault here, it's the lack of structure the new owners have yet to provide which is resulting in the day-to-day challenges. They really need to be held accountable and fix the operational challenges for Walnut Creek. I have had my appointments moved or canceled because this location is short staffed or people call out sick. It's easy to be disappointed and upset with the person or stylist manning the desk but I can tell you- everyone at Walnut Creek is trying their best to keep this place afloat. It's truly not their fault. They are the face of the establishment sure BUT they also need to be setup for success with enough stylists and better leadership from the salon owners. If you do find yourself in Walnut Creek, you gotta give my ladies Nia and Fuki a try! read more

Hit or miss experience. I've gone and had different ppl to try them out and only one girl was able to style my hair now I like. I asked for a blow out twice and showed a picture and they literally didn't do anything like it. So just going to try finding a real salon. Really nice people and nice ambience but I can't keep leaving disappointed. Tried it three times and not worth the drive for me or the convience with schedule. Maybe if you just want styling it'll be fine, but as a curly hair girl going in for blowouts I end up leaving with a mushroom look or my hair looks dry and frizzy. read more

I booked an appointment at this establishment on the same day I needed to have my hair done, so that was the first awesome experience. I will say at first I was disappointed at the outcome of my hair styling, looking back I'm not sure why other than not really being used to my hair up in a fancy do. But as the festivities began and my hair fell into place it was exceptional. I received so many compliments on it too.
