I followed Alexandra here because she's the only one I trust with my haircuts! Cost about $120-150 depending on how much you tip. I usually get my hair cut once every 6 months for context. This place is so lovely - huge mirrors everywhere, a projector playing Christmas movies in the hair washing/shampooing area. Champagne offered when you walk in, easy check in process on the ipad and a comfortable sitting area. Loved the bag hooks at the counters that you sit at, and a really bright warm ambiance. Heard that the owner Brooke also treats her employees well, which makes me way more comfortable as a customer. Alex is super attentive and answers all my questions, I will literally follow her everywhere. Was also helpful to buy Oribe products on my way out. The only mild con is that you do have to pay for parking right outside on the meter. read more

Muse is a beautiful salon right next to the Walnut Creek BART station. The ambiance is definitely that of a busy salon, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise and lots of people in a single space. I followed Alex here to get my curly cuts. She knows what she's doing and communicates every decision to you and explains why so you have a better time maintaining at home. She's been my go-to professional for years now and she never disappoints! Nearly every hair cut gets me a few compliments from strangers in the street. 5 stars, no question. Aex is meticulous and detail-oriented in a way that's genuinely rare. She cuts your hair exactly as you describe -- not approximately, not close enough -- exactly. Beyond the technical skill, she takes the time to give real feedback about what will work for your face structure and how much upkeep you're realistically willing to do. The experience was extremely unprofessional. After booking an appointment a week in advance, the staff rescheduled the night before. We decided to fall for the hype and complied. After driving all the way from Los Gatos, ample notice was given that we were stuck in traffic. We then got a call confirming our arrival and not 5 minutes later, as we were literally attempting to open the front door, the front desk called once again to inform us that the appointment was canceled. Asking to reschedule once again after driving over 2 hours in rush hour only to be rejected at the door, has left one of the worst experiences with a salon. read more

I found this review extremely difficult to write, as reflecting on the experience is still upsetting to me. However, I feel it is important to share so others do not waste their time and money booking with Santiago. During my first visit with Santiago, I came in with no real knowledge of hair services, and a miscommunication about how gloss/toner works resulted in a few grey hairs not being addressed. I later reached out in an effort to resolve the issue, including a polite phone call where I apologized for any confusion and tried to work out what happened. He explained that due to the miscommunication, he would not be fixing the issue, which I understood. Before we ended the call, I apologized again and confirmed that we were on good terms and that I could continue booking services. I was reassured that this was the case, and he told me he wouldn't have taken the call otherwise. Seven weeks later, on the day of my next appointment (which had been confirmed with me via text twice), I was notified less than five hours beforehand by his assistant that the appointment was being canceled, and that the client relationship was being ended. The listed reason was "he was under the impression this appointment was supposed to be cancelled after your call." No apology for the late notice was included. I quickly replied, asking for clarity and hoping to clear up any miscommunication, but did not receive a reply. After several hours without response to my requests for clarification, I reached out to Santiago personally via text, kindly asking what had happened. Santiago eventually sent a message after 10pm, six hours after the scheduled appointment time, stating only that he "may not be the best fit" for what I'm looking for. This non-explanation for the situation was completely unprofessional, and disrespectful of me and my time. There were seven weeks to cancel this appointment after our phone call, and I legitimately do not understand why a quick conversation with an apologetic client to try and clear up a misunderstanding about gloss would cause a stylist to sever ties so abruptly. I ultimately wasted seven weeks waiting to fix an issue with my hair, and have never felt so frustrated by a beauty service experience in my life. Santiago is talented, but has a large ego and bad attitude. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your hair. read more

This is hands down the nicest salon I have ever been to! The aesthetic makes you feel like you're in Mykonos with its chic, airy, and elevated vibe. Free champagne upon arrival? Yes, please! Especially with the economy and how things are these days, most salons have stopped offering those little touches that make you feel special, but MUSE still does. My favorite part is the hair washing station. There's a giant projector playing fashion videos while you get your hair done, and it feels like you're backstage at fashion week. Muse Salon is a unique blend of being beautiful architecturally while also feeling so homey. When you walk in everyone is so friendly across the board and the interior is worth a trip on its own. I have gone to many salons in Walnut Creek and Muse Salon is the one I will be sticking to for the long haul. I got a cut and color a few months ago and it turned out beautiful day one and my hair still looks great weeks later. This on its own makes the value of this place so exceptional, especially in comparison to similarly priced salons in the area.
