I am currently dealing with Bridgecrest regarding a vehicle repossession, and the lack of transparency and communication has been extremely concerning. My first payment was less than three weeks late and was later brought current. The delay occurred because the vehicle was unusable due to a serious mechanical issue covered under warranty, which left me without the car for weeks and required me to pay for a rental. Bridgecrest was notified of the situation. When purchasing the vehicle, I was told by the dealership that it had never been in an accident. However, when the vehicle was inspected by a mechanic due to the mechanical failure, I was advised that there were clear signs of prior accident damage, including aftermarket parts, visible welding, and rust in the engine compartment -- issues that should have been apparent during inspection. Despite the payment being cured and the vehicle being under active warranty repair, the vehicle was repossessed. Since then, I have repeatedly requested a written reinstatement or redemption amount and clarification of my options, but Bridgecrest has not provided clear information in writing and has gone silent for extended periods. While a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is pending, I received electronic notice that my access to the vehicle was revoked and that the vehicle was moved from its storage location, without any clear notice of sale or disposition being provided. It looked good and drove good for the test drive. One month later the transmission started to fail. Later noticed cracks in the windshield. Had it looked at and was told that the windshield was replaced at some point and it was put on wrong. No seal around the driver side. Was also just told that there is an issue with the sunroof that is causing water to leak into car and soak passenger side floor. What a crock! We had to go through literally 4 cars that broke down, and had engine problems. Major problems that were beyond costly. Within 2 weeks I had to return multiple cars. Read the fine print. The fancier more expensive car that lures you in by looks and advanced technology are usually the ones that will break down within 2weeks to a year. If they would offer you a lifetime warranty and pay for any problems that you had nothing to do with because they convinced you to buy a faulty car they barely knew anything about, then yes this would be a great business. I've been a customer since 2015 when I purchased my first car. It was a Ford Edge that ended up needing over $2100.00 in repairs. The PTU was faulty or damaged and of course not covered by warranty. Although the engine, which also needed to be replaced, was. The car was in the shop for over 2 weeks because of delays with the engine. Finally, the air conditioning broke down and I traded in the car for my current nightmare, a 2013 Hyundai. The car was great until the beginning of the year when I noticed the brakes seem to be slipping. The inspection found that the rotors on the car were incredibly rusted and couldn't be resurfaced and needed to be replaced. Total $1209.67 and of course, not covered by the warranty. Last month I took the car in for the annual emissions and when I was told the car couldn't be tested I knew I had once again gone down a rabbit hole. Of course, about a week late that check engine light popped on now giving mechanics P0447 and P0455 codes. I was told that a valve essential to the emission system needed to be replaced. My mechanic has been calling for the part and has been unable to find it. So once again my car has sat in a shop as it is illegal for me to drive it, and I am unsure if my warranty covers the rental. I was in the market for a used car this past April, and despite the inane commercials from DriveTime, I decided to look into getting a car from them. I went to the website, found the car of my dreams (or so I thought) and decided to visit this location. The website suggested that I pre-qualify for a car with DriveTime. I submitted the necessary information, and immediately received two emails stating that I was approved for a car with DriveTime worth $35,000. I was ecstatic, as the car I wanted was less than $15K. I then received an email from a staff member of the Lombard Drive Time location, stating that I should call them to set up an appointment. So I called right away and told the salesman the exact car that I wanted to see (my dream car was located at a different location than the Lombard location). The salesman pushed me to make an appointment, totally disregarding my request for the car at the other location. So I went ahead and made an appointment with him for later in the week, but still asked him how I was going to be able to see the car I wanted if I would be meeting him in Lombard yet the car was in Schaumburg? He informed me that "he would work something out". That didn't sound very convincing to me, but being that I was at work, I let it go. Later that evening, I received an email from a totally different staff member at the Lombard location asking to set up an appointment. I thought it was rather odd, especially as I had already made an appointment. Not long after that, I received a phone call from yet another staff member at the Lombard location asking to set up an appointment. I informed them that I had set up an appointment and that they should really learn to discuss these things with each other. The day before my appointment, I called DriveTime and asked to speak to the salesman I had an appointment with. I asked him if he was going to have someone drive the car I was interested in from the Schaumburg location over to the Lombard location in time for my appointment. He told me, "Well, we have to see what you get approved for first. Then we'll talk about cars. But you can feel free to take a look around our lot and see if you like anything here." I couldn't believe it. I told him that I had already given my information via DriveTime's website and was told via email that I had been pre-approved. I told him that I felt that he was pretty much saying anything to get me to come to the Lombard location and waste my time. I understand that buying a car requires financing, etc. but what was the point of being "preapproved" if it doesn't really count for anything? And why have me waste my time looking at cars at the Lombard lot if the car I want is only at the Schaumburg location? I told the salesman to cancel my appointment and that I would not be doing business with DriveTime. Not even 12 hours later, I kept receiving phone calls from DriveTime. I let the calls go to voicemail. Each message was a different salesman/saleswoman trying to set up an appointment with me! I couldn't believe it Finally, around 5:30pm, I received a 1-888 call. I answered it, and it was supposedly the Corporate office of DriveTime (at least, that's what the woman on the other end of the line said). She stated that she wanted to know how my car buying experience was with DriveTime. I couldn't believe it! So I started to tell her how unhappy I was with my experience, and after the third sentence, she angrily interrupted me and said, "So did you buy a car or not?!" I was floored. I told her, "Hell no, and I'll make sure no one I know buys a car with DriveTime either!" I kid you not, I received another email and phone call from a staff member at DriveTime requesting an appointment with me. I replied to the email informing them to cease and desist with their unprofessional and gonzo sales tactics. That was the only way to get them to stop emailing me and calling me 50-11 times a day. Now I cringe every time I see one of their stupid commercials, thinking of my horrible experience with them. I went to Drive Time on three separate occasions. On the first two occasions I walked the lot and looked at potential vehicles that I might be interested in test driving. Neither of these times did anyone come out side to see if I had questions and or needed assistance. On the third occasion I went inside and was asked to sign in. There was supposedly one person in front of me. After about 30 minutes the person who signed me in stated he wanted me to fill out more paper work to speed up the process (paper work about credit). I stated I didn't know if I wanted to purchase from them or not. I just wanted to test drive a couple of their vehicles first. He said okay and walked away. After about 2 hours someone walked over and said it would be my turn next. After another 20 minutes a man walked over (Max) and said he would be my sales associate. During those 20 minutes I had watched who I didn't know was going to be my sales man walk outside and start to clean cars in the service bay. I told him I wanted to test drive three cars he said well we need to fill out some paper work and I said no I would not I am not filling out a credit application and not knowing if any of these vehicles are ones I truly want. He cut us off and walked outside, talked to someone came back in and took stock numbers. He came back took us outside and walked us to the first car and said I can't let you drive them but I can open them and show them to you. I proceeded to explain that that was unacceptable and told the sales man I was leaving. Max proceeded to continue to talk to the person I was with and he went inside to get the sales manager. The sales manager came out (name unknown) and was rude telling me what I had to do then stating that this was "preference" to fill out a whole credit application and then see what I could afford or not afford. While I do understand where they are coming from you why have a customer fall in love with a car they can not afford they didn't no convey their "preference" until after we had been sitting there for over 2 hours. Then when they finally decided to let us test drive 2 of the cars the sales man Max was unable to give me any attention eh was to busy on Facebook on his phone. When I asked about brakes on the cars (they both seemed to be in need) He proceeded to state that they do not have a shop so the brakes are done before they get them. the first car the brakes were grinding so I am not sure how they were done before they got there. DO NOT BUY FROM DRIVETIME/BRIDGE CREST...... I bought my car with not so great credit about 15 months ago, I felt lucky to get a car I liked and though the financing was high I was hoping to refinance after 18 months. I also purchased the gap insurance for $795, if the car became a total loss the full amount of the loan is covered even if fair market value is below what you owe. I thought this was a blessing since there is over a $4000 difference from what the insurance paid and what I owed on the car. WRONG! After the bimbo that totaled my car by blowing through a stop sign, the insurance sent the check to bridge crest within the week but DriveTime won't even think about financing me for another car until the gap amount is taken care of. Just guess how long they say this can take to get the $4000 gap amount off my loan.....4 to 6 WEEKS! Not kidding. Of course I don't plan to go back there ever but having an amount like that outstanding on my credit doesn't help me elsewhere either. They certainly had no problem financing me for the extra $795. I went in thinking the sales people would be pushy, not at all they gave us time to look over the cars and see what we liked and didn't like. When we did find one we wanted it was not the most expensive they didn't try to push us into something newer or bigger. Joanna showed us only the cars we wanted to see. I walked in at about 11am and drove out in my new car at about 1:30 I was surprised how quickly they were able to get everything done even with my terrible credit. So for months this place has been calling and emailing me to come in. Originally I had decided to go through my credit union that suggested I go to Enterprise. I waited and ended up going into DriveTime because I had been "approved " online with only 1400 down. I should've known it was bs because when I went back online the 1400 went to close to 1800. I went in anyway with my credit score of 654 and my income of over 50,000 a year only to be told that I needed to put down 11,000 on a 2014 car that was only 16,000 dollars. Talk about highway robbery! I was in total shock! I walked out and contacted the customer relations department not because I was upset but to get an understanding. The guy that I spoke with said he would look into the situation and call me back that day. I never heard from him. I decided to call again and got a nasty rep on the phone who basically told me to kiss her ass. Second was my check Service engine light. Third my tail light was out. Then last not least my heat heat went out. It took for that to happen for them to even look at my car. So when I took my car in parts where missing off my car which they fix okay cool not even two days later my tail light and reverse light go call the warranty company which they said they don't cover drive time customer relations wouldn't even pay for Nissan to even look at my car which they told me to take my car to Nissan so not only will I be investing more money into this car which the car is not worth it but this car will continue to have electrical problems.
