The car sat at the dealership for weeks while the owner, Ted, offered just $700 toward a repair that would cost approximately $3,000. I was given the runaround for weeks until I ultimately had no choice but to have the car towed. What makes this experience even more upsetting is that I saw at least three other parents shopping here with their kids for their first cars. I was charged an additional $1,000 in registration and tax-related fees, bringing our total out-of-pocket cost to $5,100. Now, we are left without a car and out thousands of dollars. Please take a mechanic with you if you choose to shop here, and proceed with extreme caution. Especially if you are buying a first car for your child, do your homework and get the vehicle thoroughly inspected before handing over your money. I learned this lesson the hard way, and I would hate for another family to go through the same experience. In my opinion, this dealership operates with an old-school approach to selling cars that leaves buyers vulnerable. Do not make the mistake I made. Protect yourself and your family.

They take time to explain what repairs I need and don't need. They have always been able to resolve my problems, even on short notice. Because I have dealt with them, an out of the ordinary situation was resolved at no cost to me, because I am an established customer. I have never felt as though I have been overcharged. The quality is always worth it. And they let me bring my dog into the waiting area.

I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience at Wilkins Mazda. I scheduled my…read moreappointment weeks in advance specifically to fix the drooping visor on my CX‑30, a widely known defect with this model. At the time I booked, I also requested a courtesy vehicle so I could go about my day without disruption. A few weeks before my appointment, I actually called the dealership to speak with someone in the service department to ask whether this issue would be covered under warranty and what I should expect. They couldn't give me any clear answers, which already made me a bit uneasy, but I still didn't expect things to go as poorly as they did. The day before my appointment, I received a confirmation email and replied asking follow‑up questions about the repair, timing, and the courtesy vehicle I had requested. I never received a response. When I arrived on time for my appointment, I was told they needed to perform a diagnostic test to determine whether the repair would be covered under warranty, at a cost of $350. This was never clearly communicated beforehand, and it felt unreasonable given this is a known issue. I was essentially told it was a 50/50 chance I'd be stuck paying for something that should be covered. Reluctantly, I agreed, only to then be told the diagnostic would take at least 90 minutes. At that point, I asked for the courtesy vehicle I had specifically arranged in advance, only to be told that 19 out of 22 vehicles were "broken," and the remaining few were being reserved for customers with more serious repairs like engine or transmission issues. At that point, I walked out. The entire experience was disorganized, poorly communicated, and full of unexpected roadblocks. It completely wasted my time and reinforced every stereotype about why people dread dealing with dealerships, nothing is transparent, nothing is simple, and customers are left dealing with the consequences. If you have other service options, I strongly recommend exploring them before going to Wilkins Mazda.

I connected with the owner on a Thursday evening inquiring about a car I had found on Marketplace,…read morethe ad had said no mechanical issues. I arranged to meet at 10AM on Friday to look at the car. I arrive at just after 10 O'clock and he was not there. I sat around till about 11:30, still did not show. I called the number he provided at least 3 times, each time the call was sent to voice mail. I finally met up with one of his mechanics who showed me the car. The car needed rear shocks and breaks on all 4 corners. This was definitely not a "no mechanical issue vehicle" as it was advertised. I talk to the mechanic for a bit about the issues then leave. I had called a few more times through the day trying to reach the salesman / owner to see about final pricing on the vehicle. The same thing, no answer just straight to voicemail, and never received a call back. I even tried reaching out to them through Facebook messenger, the same way I had made initial contact, and there was never a response. This was a complete waste of time to drive 500 miles for. I also find it a complete lack of respect for the customer to make an appointment and not keep it, to not call to notify the customer that things had to be changed, and to completely ghost the customer. I went down the street and found another car, same make and model, and paid cash and drove that vehicle back home. Found out a few days later by looking at their website to leave a review that the car had gone up almost 2500 in price from the price I found the car for on marketplace. My suggestion is to look somewhere else, Take what you will from my experience

While en route, I called to confirm my arrival. The representative, Max, stopped me, claiming his 'wife accidentally took the keys to Michigan' and told me 'don't ask' when questioned. Max heavily apologized and verbally promised to drive to Michigan that night to retrieve the keys and return on that morning, along with reimbursement of my $75 transit loss and to personally deliver the vehicle to my home in DeKalb on Saturday afternoon after he completes another sale at the dealership at 10am. So they can't say they were closed for the 4th of July, because he alleged he had a closing on that very day. Moreover, on Saturday, (July 4, 2026) Max completely ghosted me. I called every 30 minutes from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, leaving a voicemail with every single call. I then left a voicemail explaining that I had an out-of-town trip scheduled for 3:30 PM and needed the vehicle before then around 1:30. He ignored every call and completely ruined my travel plans. I honestly did not see this coming, but after reading reviews from others, it now makes sense. Fortunately, I am still physically holding my credit union financing check, so Nexton Motors has received $0 from me. I am officially canceling this loan draft Monday morning, reversing my insurance policy, and reporting this lot to the Illinois Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Bureau. There is absolutely no excuse to justify how I was treated. Thank you, Max, for wasting my time. You will reap what you sow. Do not trust a single word this business tells you.

We were not pressured to buy and were presented with all the add on options, but they were not pushy about buying a ton of extra things we didn't need. Filling out paperwork went pretty smooth and quickly and all the different warranty options were presented, and again we were not pressured into buying lots of extra things we didn't need. Overall, I'd come here again in the future if I'm looking for another car. I appreciate how smoothly the car buying experience went, and how prices were quite competitive to start -- avoiding a lengthy bargaining process.
