First experience was 5 stars. Second experience was 1 star. Daughter paid for the 6 hour driving course. Quick calls arranged convenient lesson times and a beautiful mini cooper arrived on time all 3 lessons without a hitch. Daughter #2 paid for the 6 hour driving course. No calls, called to schedule waiting on the phone for 10-20 minutes each call. Web site doesn't allow for scheduling. After 3 weeks of back and forth finally booked only spots available 7am Tuesday's. 3 weeks?!?! Mid October they said they had limited spots and to call back beginning of November. I did, terrible options. December, due to timing, I was pretty forced into Tuesday 7am... Tuesday comes and while on time the car wasn't even a Mini Cooper! This is important as we have a Mini Cooper and the whole reason we chose this loser outfit so she would be familiar and comfortable during the test. So what do they do instead of righting this - try and sell me the additional driving test package! I think their drivers are bailing which allows for limited spots. They are losing business and having to go to cheaper vehicles. Dying outfit and would not recommend. read more

Firstly, my instructor was racist! Instead of teaching me to driver, she would comment on how foreigners cannot drive and would question my knowledge of the language. Basically, an incompetent instructor who would simply abuse her students. To add to this, the company stopped offering classes in Austin. I had asked for a refund for the classes I had already paid for only to be charged for two more classes. Ergo, I have ended up paying them - 4 classes worth of money- to not teach me and to be racist to me! Truly a terrible experience here. Its practically impossible to get hold of them now. If I could possible rate DriversEd.com at a zero and warn you against them, I would. Other than being deceitful and having atrocious customer service, they also will not let you escalate calls and hang up on you when asked to clarify information/policies or to speak with management. We had problems with them for six months, they magically quit operating in our city ( and forgot to mention it), and they chose not to help with the transfer. Find another drivers education program, this one is not worth the issues you will inevitably have. read more

Crazy b.s. course you wouldn't believe - pretty sure that English was NOT the first language of the person who constructed the questions. The course would be a joke, except this is a serious matter. And wait until you speak with customer service; their representative in Sri Lanka could not tell you the first thing unless it's on their prepared customer service answers. That isn't the worst of it. They rob you for extras on your bill and you have to fight to get your money back. We are STILL trying to get money back for "services" we didn't ask for and they are still hedging! "Oh yes, I see you didn't authorize this. Refunds take 6 -8 weeks . . ." - refund? I called to get the fine print details and think their website is misleading. The "complete" teen driving course description does not "satisfy the DPS requirement" of on-road driving. In addition to the 14 hours that DriversEd.Com provides, another 30 hours are required by DPS (and not provided by DriversEd.com) which they conveniently fail to mention. Driversed.com: I agree with other reviews here about the online part being convenient, and the driving instructors being awesome! That's the only reason I didn't give 1 star. BUT customer service is awful! Ok, there is one woman who was very nice. I was able to talk to her ONCE. But besides that, you have very long hold times, no one answers your voicemails, no one responds to emails requesting to NOT be scheduled during the times your child is still in school, and to NOT be scheduled in the opposite part of town during rush hour! If you miraculously get someone on the phone, they seem out of it and robotic. The nice woman we need to talk to is never there when we call and for some reason, they temporarily have no extension numbers so you have to go through the whole automated system, then wait on hold to get to someone. Also, if they schedule you and you don't cancel within 24 hours, they charge you $50, which is understandable. But we would call to cancel the appointments (we had already called and emailed requesting not to be scheduled for in the first place) well in advance and would never get a confirmation that someone had cancelled it in time for us. This is my third child to go through drivers ed and I wish I had stuck with our local driver's ed companies. My daughter was busy and wanted to do the first part online so I agreed. It sounded like it would be so convenient for the driving portion but it has taken more than twice as long and has been a communication and scheduling nightmare! Don't do it! Stay local!!! read more

Despite the popularity of the site, it still deceives customers to take money to their pockets !!!! As seen on the homepage, it says you can get the license in ANY state. However, when you click into that. You MUST investigate that it's STATE APPROVED or NOT. Some states are mentioned but MOST of them don't talk about that. So, if you take the course and complete without saying so, you got NOTHING !!! I have done some research online, there are many many people like me !!! They registered, paid and got NOTHING !!! Drivers Ed.com is the worst!!!! My 15 year old did their Florida online Learners Permit course. Should have taken 4 hours but it dragged on for twice that long! And it was soooo brining. Just lots of reading of hundreds of slides. And the test at the end is IMPOSSIBLE!!! All of the questions are worded so difficultly and they are insane. He failed twice. Mind you my son is an gifted honors student. I even reviewed his answers and they were nearly impossible to figure out. We even had some of his friends that did other online programs read them and they were stunned at how ridiculously tricky they were. Couldn't even get my money back. We signed up for another course. Terrible. The online customer service is terrible. Takes hours to resolve issues. Call the phone number and it is almost impossible to get a live person. When you do get a person, they are not familiar with the United States or individual state requirements for driving. Overpriced and little value. I paid them for the practical driving training, what it says on the site waiting for 2 days. I got a call just after 4 days. I told them that I would have returned the money. I was told that within 14 days they return them. However, 19 days have passed and I did not return. I had to open a paypal dispute. I had to write to the bank to cancel the transaction. Since the service I received no money and I did not return. Today, they wrote in a live chat. I was told that I needed to call from 9 am to 8 pm tomorrow. I do not recommend this company. read more

I recently moved here from Europe and had to take the written, vision and driving test again. I used the DriversEd.com online written exam software and it was very convenient. Since I had a good experience with their online system, I also decided to signup for their Road-test package. Actually, I'm reviewing DriversEd.com mainly to rate their instructor, Mary Ann. She's a mature, professional person and gave great tips. I highly recommend her! BTW - I passed my drivers test with only 2 pts off (passed the stop sign line about 6 inches or so). read more

This company is horrible. Promised they would call me by April 27 to schedule all my daughter's lessons in May. No call. After calling them and holding forever, getting disconnected, calling and holding again representative said earliest they could schedule now was May 30! My daughters driver test is June 3rd. DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY FOR THIS PROGRAM!!! Terrible experience and customer service. For starters, the slides are set for a tourtuously unreasonable amount of time. I waited at least 15 seconds after reading on most slides. The voice verification system is also terribly dreadful, it never worked for me so I would always end up on hold trying to prove that I was myself even though I couldn't remember if I had a favorite TV show 8 months ago. So sorry. I thought that would be the worst of it, until the night before my license test when I checked on the website to make sure everything was okay. Much to my dismay, I found that some incompotent jerk had not switched me over from the parent taught course, even though I had already compleated all of the lessons with professionals, so I now had 14 extra hours of slide shows to compleate before my appointment in 18 hours. I called the place so they could switch me over, and they decided that now would be a good time to tell me that I was missing the 7 observation hours needed to compleate the course, something that seemed to slip the mind of the first man who set up my lessons. How sweet. Because the lessons were some of the worst hours of my life, I decided to continue with the parent taught and now have an atrocious 14 hours ahead of me, and then 16 days to ship the damn piece of paper to me before I can get my licence. Thanks for ruining my birthday, driversed.com!!! Update: Things just keep getting worse. No one from customer service knows what they're doing and I think I've spoken with every one of them by now. I was optomistic about the reply below, but then I recived an automatic reply 30 seconds after I sent an email. At least they try to be genuine. Update #2: Happy to put the past two weeks behind me, I just went to the DMV after waiting the 16 days to print out a piece of paper. I had everything the checklist that was mailed to me listed and then some and my dashboard even says "go the the DPS when you are eligible to take your road test and apply for a provisional license". After waiting, I was told I needed an Impact Certificate. After asking a lot of questions, the lady behind the counter finally told me that it was MORE online videos I needed to watch and be quizzed over. Great. The problem wasn't this, it was that I was NEVER told about this by driversed.com. The packet I received says nothing about it, the only place I found it was at the bottom of my dashboard, under where it told me to go to the DMV. Notice the theme, online customer service is terrible! The courses seem ok and my son did learn but 2 months out I am still trying to get his driving certificate from these people. They just can't seem to get it right. He has already had to delay one driving test and is close to having to delay another. I will not be using this company for my second child for sure. read more

I have had a mixed experience so far dealing with Drivers Ed. I moved here from Australia as an over 25 year old, so took the DriversEd.com online education. This was very convenient and could be completed in less than a week, allowing me to skip having to do a written test at the DPS. Like the previous reviewer, based on this experience I purchased a package of six hours of lessons. The instructor I had, Tim Phillips, was a great teacher - very patient, with clear instructions and made me feel much more confident behind the wheel. My experience with their customer support team could have been better however. Numerous times I called and sat on hold for 30 mins+, to in the end just leave a voicemail. Multiple requests for a call back to book in lessons were ignored. When I actually got through to them, they had very very limited availability for lesson times. If you have a strict schedule, I would keep this in mind before going with them. When I called in June for instance, they would not have any time free for 3 weeks, and then only one lesson available at a time like 11am to 1pm on a Monday. They need to hire some more instructors so people can book in for lessons more easily! read more

I signed my daughter up for this because our experience with our other child while using the DMV school was terrible. We only signed up for the driving lessons. First, this site advertises that you can pick locations close to your home. That rarely happened. Most of the locations were far enough that whoever drove her to the location had to stay the entire 2 hours while we waited for the class to be over. Second, you have an online account but that is basically useless. You have to call in and have them set all the appointments for you. This lead to a good deal of confusion on dates, times, and addresses. Third, we were canceled on twice, with very little notification. One time it happened as we were pulling into the parking lot. BOTH times, they marked us as the no-show. I finally agreed to pay the last one just so we could be DONE with this company. Fourth, they NEVER sent any emails are made any phone calls to tell us there was any sort of hold on our account from the instructor's no-show. This meant that we were waiting for the certificate needed to get the actual license for over 2 months. When you are a "no-show", they are supposed to attempt to call you. This did not happen on either of the no-shows they charged us with. All I can guess is that they got a last-minute substitute and never attempted to contact us. Fifth, your child will only drive 1 hour of their 2-hour lesson. The other hour they spend in the backseat watching another child drive. I will not use this company for my last 2 teens and I will recommend that others avoid them. read more

SUCH a bad experience. From the confusing interface to the worst customer service ever!

No. Just no. No one can be reached by phone -- and we have two lessons left already paid for. Mostly get a busy signal at the local numbers and the national number doesn't get you anywhere. Plus, one male instructor made my daughter so nervous, she came home just shell-shocked. She said he would tell her, "well you would have killed us there," and told her that everything the first instructor taught her was wrong and would have to be retaught. (the first one had quit or something) Then he said that she should be practicing at home with her parents every day. Uh, excuse me -- that's what we pay you to do. We do not have the right kind of car or the driver instruction experience -- that is what we pay YOU for! The third instructor was nice and patient but never available and one time just didn't show. So you may end up getting one or two appointments a week. And WHY don't they teach parking and backing up? And parallel parking, please? Just say no to this one. read more

If you or your teen has some anxiety about getting behind the wheel, I strongly advise against getting J.Rodriguez. I just had my first driving lesson with him and never have I ever felt more disrespected. A good driving instructor is supposed to be patient and equipped to handle all sorts of new drivers and he had none of that. At one point during the lesson, he knew that I was anxious after he asked me whether I was and said yes but still was disrespectful. I didn't expect to be coddled and in fact, I don't want to be coddled. I'm going to make mistakes learning how to drive and I expect to be called out on them but I also expect to be told with respect and understanding. I was fed up with him and asked that he return me to my home with 30 minutes remaining in the lesson. I have already switched instructors and I am praying that this person will be all the things that this instructor was not. My goal is to become confident but law-abiding driver and not an even more anxious driver which is exactly what happened today. P.S.- Try hiring some people that are familiar with the area that they will be picking up the students. He said he wasn't familiar with East Austin at all and said he was based more in South Austin. read more

I am extremely unhappy with the service at DriversEd.com. I have spent six weeks trying to schedule in-car drivers training with no success. Each time I call, all days are booked in my area, and they don't schedule farther out than two weeks. I was told to call back on Monday at 9:00am when the new schedule would be available. I called eight times on two phones in a 30 minute window. Each time, I would wait on hold for 6 - 7 minutes and then be sent to voicemail. This has been my experience now for months. I moved to Austin few months ago and of course I had to learn how to drive. I had a very mixed and frustrating experience with this company. I bought a 10 hour 5 class package. Apart from the fact that I was assigned 3 different instructors, the instructors were good. However, the customer service is verify bad, run away!!!! I was put on hold for days, yes for days. First, to schedule my classes it was super difficult. I called 2 days for that, I was transferred multiple times. Horrible. In addition, the only available spots were in 1 month. I wish I knew that when I paid $600. The worse experience happened when I had to reschedule my last class due to a health problem and had a doctor appointment (emergency) that overlapped with my last driving class. I was calling 48 hours in advance and couldn't get to a person for hours, it was so frustrating. I emailed the person that sent me the initial schedule, I called her extension and nothing. Then I just called, and called and I was put on hold for hours. You might wonder how I managed to reschedule. Well, when I had my 4th lesson I escalated the "customer service" issue to my instructor and she personally called for me. Yes, that was the only way. She called the direct number and asked for me to reschedule. This is absolutely unacceptable. I paid almost $600 to be treated like that. NO!!!! I wish I can give ZERO starts to this company's customer service, which is pretty important part in this business since you have to schedule/reschedule classes, and a 4-5 starts to the instructors. So the average is 2. I didn't have to take the written exam since I had a learner's permit from NY. This review is strictly for the driving classes. read more

Don't sign up for the 'in car' driving training unless you enjoy being on hold for hours trying to schedule a lesson. Forget leaving a message and receiving a call back. I left 7 messages for call backs over the course of a month and never received one. They also can't/don't resolve any issues on the weekend-even if you were scheduled for a lesson on a Saturday or Sunday and no one shows up. You're out of luck! Do NOT use this company!!!! The customer service is a NIGHTMARE! I am beginning to wonder if this is a real company or just some kind of scam. My son finished the driving lessons 7 weeks ago and we have been trying to get the certificate since then. I've probably called this place 10 times and every time waiting on hold for at least 20 minutes at a minimum and then sometimes after a long wait, the recorder says to send an email or a voice mail. So, I emailed them one time and the response was... i need an email associated with the account to help you, so I email back and said this is the email associated with the account then THREE days later I get a response that says I am unable to locate your account, what state are you in? I've done the voice mail option too, and they call you back hours later or the next day. When i would finally get someone on the phone they would tell me that his certificate was being mailed, so we wait and check the mail, a couple weeks go by, nothing, so i call back and they say it should be mailed, it would never come. After about 6 weeks of this i finally got someone on the phone that actually knew what the problem was instead of just saying "it will be mailed". I am not sure if the problem has been fixed or not, I am not calling again because it is pointless, I might as well talk to a wall. I am beyond frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could go on about the quality of the instructors too but i have waisted enough time on this, I have never left a bad review of anyplace but i just really feel the need to warn other parents.
