They're ok. Nothing to write home about. Expensive bland mud bugs. It is convenient on 190 but a better place is in old Mandeville.

Every crawfish I grab and peel has a firm tail without any mushy dead meat like all the other crawfish boiling restaurants on the Northshore.

We have our favorites on both sides of the lake, but I recently read some great reviews somewhere online about Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen with locations in both Mandeville and Covington. After speaking with our friends we decided to dine at the Covington location of Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen. Inside the entrance, the restaurant posts their policy that you will not be seated at a table until all parties have arrived, which is understandable considering the huge amount of business they have. My wife and I arrived before our friends who were running a little late. The Hostess, Jill, asked me how many in our party and I told her four, but the other couple was running late and would be arriving in about 20 minutes. We took a seat in the empty waiting area inside the entrance. The restaurant appeared to have only one or two empty tables available inside when I arrived on a beautiful day. Five to ten minutes later the waiting area was full (approx. ten people). The restaurant was extremely noisy with all their customers enjoying their meals and conversing with friends/family. I noticed that there were approximately ten tables located in front of the restaurant in a beautiful covered patio, so I asked Jill if we could have a table outside once our friends arrived in about five more minutes because one of them was somewhat physically handicapped. There was only one empty table in the patio at the time. Jill explained that since she had a reservation in the patio for a party of eight that would be arriving soon, so she had been holding it for another available outside table to put together to accommodate this party. However, she said she would gladly give us the table. By this time, the waiting room was full of people and overflowing outside the entrance. I had given my seat to a lady and stepped outside to wait for my friends, who I noticed had arrived and parking their car. I told Jill and she seated us at the table in the patio. The four of us ordered different things on the menu, which were fantastic. Although the restaurant was packed, the waitress AND Jill visited our table several times to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchens' ambiance, service, menu items (along with portion sizes) and prices were absolutely astounding. We were all very impressed and grateful for a beautiful dining experience. Special thanks to Jill who was abundantly pleasant to deal with. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen certainly placed Jill in the right position.

She highly recommended the Blacken Shrimp and Grits. When my food came out, it was a large plate with plenty of shrimp. The food was amazing. I got my Southern/ Creole craving fulfilled. I'm definitely coming back! I wish they would open longer so I can grab late lunch or early dinner.

He travels between Louisiana and Mississippi with his food truck, and every time I've seen him, there's been a long line. I arrived around 10:50 a.m. for the 11:00 opening, and there were already 60-70 people ahead of me. Even with that crowd, the line moved efficiently. I had my food by about 11:40, which I thought was a very reasonable wait considering how busy they were. Once you placed your order, they were calling names within just a few minutes. The staff seemed organized and kept things moving. I ordered one of the crab special, which advertised as including two eggs. I was actually really looking forward to them--I had even texted my partner beforehand asking if we should order extra eggs! Unfortunately, when I got my order, there weren't any eggs included. It did come with extra crab clusters, so maybe that was meant as a substitute, but I would have preferred the meal to match the menu. I also paid for two extra cups of butter but only received one. As for the food itself, the flavor was good, though not something I'd personally crave often. I also wish there had been spice level options since I enjoy my seafood much spicier. I understand it's a food truck, so there are naturally some limitations. I also hung around in the area and noticed they were still serving an hour plus after I got my order- with only 5-7 people in line. That being said- they had plenty, so no need to be there right at opening... Overall, I had a positive experience. The service was efficient, the operation was well-run, and despite a couple of missing items, I'd still recommend giving The Crab Man a try. Just be sure to double-check your order before you leave.

Every window has a stained glass piece of artwork hanging in it. I ordered their Crab Cakes Benedict from the specials board with Home Fries. Grits are available too. The crab cakes on an English Muffin with the eggs on top was super delicious and very filling to get my day started off right. The home fries were thoroughly cooked; nice and soft. Their orange juice offers two choices, regular and fresh squeezed. Service was excellent! I received prompt, courteous and friendly attention throughout my stay from all of the staff. There is extra parking on the side and in the back.

Then at least three servers walked by us and didn't make any eye contact nor did the bartenders who also saw us waiting. For a restaurant that says on their website, "we may be casual, but our service is upscale," we didn't get that feeling. The manager came by and then checked is in for our reservations and took us to a table. The hostess then wished us a nice meal. Luckily, our server Regan saved the day with exceptional service. She was friendly, attentive, and personable. Regan would accompany the guy dropping off the food to let us know the rest of the food was coming or just to check that we received what we ordered. Our appetizers came and we were given enough time to enjoy then before our entrees arrived, our plates were cleared, and our drinks were full. To begin the meal we drinks. Then we shared the BBQ Shrimp (GF minus the Cornbread and French Bread), Gumbo, Shrimp & Corn Bisque (GF), and Wedge Salad (GF). The BBQ Shrimp were cooked just right and had a great sauce. The salad was a good size loaded with tomatoes, cheese, and bacon. Then I had a 14 oz Ribeye medium rare to accompany my Dirty Martini. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. My son enjoyed the BBQ Shrimp Pasta while my husband really liked his Etouffee Empanadas. The Blackened Scallops with Lobster Risotto looked delicious and my brother in law enjoyed it. My mother in law shared a few of the dozen Charbroiled Oysters she had for her entree. They were plump and juicy with great flavor. We ended the evening with Dragonfruit Sorbet, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Creme Brulee, and of course an Espresso Martini. We enjoyed the Creme Brulee that was crunchy with big pieces of sugar that were browned with a torch. Both the sorbet and ice cream were also really good. Regan and the food made up for the disappointing start to the meal.

When we received the oysters it was nice that they split the oysters on 2 separate plates for us. The oysters were super tiny. They may have been a little overcooked which could have caused them to shrink, regardless, they should have either mentioned that the oysters are running small or not charge full price ($26). They tasted "ok", we've had better. We expect much more from a "Gallagher" restaurant. We will be back since we love the atmosphere and drinks, but we won't be getting the oysters!
