It's been a while since we've eaten here, but it will likely be the last. They have gone down the toilet in flavor and quality of their food. The fried shrimp and service were good and the beer was cold, I'll give them that. The fried oysters and gumbo were cringe worthy at best. Mushy under cooked oysters, and although the gumbo had a generous amount of chicken and sausage it was tasteless. Come on, this is Louisiana!! Your representation of our food needs some attention. The wall behind our table was disgusting and it looked like someone had thrown a bowl of gumbo against the wall and had never been cleaned. The roach crawling down the wall to it didn't seem to mind though. The lighting is dim, but I bet I'm not the first on to notice the nastiness. Clean it or close it!! read more

My husband and I had lunch at millside today and I have to say, this is my last time going. We've been going to millside for years, food has always been good and the waitresses are sweet and helpful, but the cook was terrible. Cursing in the kitchen, having an attitude, we could tell he was making the waitresses upset. The last time we came, it was the same way. Something needs to be done about the cook in particular before we ever consider returning. I've spoke to a few people about it and they all said the same thing. My son and his wife said the haven't been back in months because the cook makes the workers anxious. I feel bad for them, honestly. The owners need to do something before they go out of business. Terrible, don't go there. The bar was dirty, and the baby was crying and crawling behind the bar, and we were ignored by the bartender. So we went to the restaurant part. SIX tables were dirty.so we sat at a 6 top, we only had 2. We ordered debris fries, the roast beef was shaved, lunch meat style, and the gravy was brown water, no flavor ot taste. We maybe ate 4 fries, paid and left. We complained, but they did not care at all. We will NOT recommend or return. read more

Crawfish was ok, wasn't not hot (temperature). I also had a shrimp po boy and the shrimp was soft and not fried hard enough.

The food was good and I'd go back. But someone needs to dust the ceiling fan on restaurant side!!!!

My wife and I Went to the bar and sat down. Heard a baby crying and was crawling behind bar on floor. Bartender didn't acknowledge us. We went to dinning room and sat down. Noticed several tables dirty. We tried the debris fries. They just threw some cheese on top wasn't melted. Roast beef they bought from Store and just cooked in some terribly grave. Fries were not done. Might have ate a few fries and told waitress we didn't like it and she charge me for it. Had a bad smell inside also. Save your money and go some where else. read more

What a cute place with superior service. Such friendly people and very inviting. The food portions are as big as your face so you can surely split a meal. I got the soft shell crab which were tasty. I am giving this a two star rating because the service was excellent however the food was terrible. We had a seafood platter, the soft shell crab was good and must have been fried in different oil. The other items tasted like old burnt oil and the oysters were so overcooked they were black. Definitely not worth the price. I will never eat here again. read more

I went to Millside this evening and had a pretty bad experience. I order 7 pounds of crawfish that were raw/freezing cold. I then went on to order the roast beef poboy and their gumbo. The roast beef was sliced and had a weird flavor. The gumbo taste like it came out of Campbells cans. People were nice tho. read more

Well this is a must stop if you are hungry! It's off the beaten path, you'd miss it or dismiss it if you were just driving through. But let me tell you it is well worth the stop, yes it looks like a hole in the wall. The staff is extremely helpful! I wanted some crawfish and the waitress brought me out a couple to try first. Wow they were awesome, although I do like them a little more spicy but overall great!! Also ordered oysters and a burger with fries. All made to order and perfect!! WOW! Thank you Yelp! After reading about local places I decided to go here for our night away from the kids. I was craving seafood and my husband wanted a Poboy. I ordered the Seafood Platter and He ordered a Shrimp Poboy. Both portions were huge and food was delicious. The batter on both the Shrimp and Fish were Perfect . Not greasy or overly thick or masking the seafood. The seafood didnt have that fishy taste you get at some places. Now, on to the Fried Soft Shell Crab crab. I have only had 3. One at Dons, One at a local Deli and One here. My first was recently and it was at Dons and I hated it. Tonight I was awestruck. The one at the Deli compared to Dons....but This Softshell Crab was AMAZING!!!! I wanted more!!! I will go back to Millside, Over and Over. HOLY COW! Let me start by saying that I'm *very* stingey about my 5 star reviews, but there is not a single bad thing to say about Millside. I'm Asian and from Chicago, so my seafood palate can be downright snobby sometimes between fish fries, boils, and sushi, but this place was PHENOMENAL! Hands down the freshest catfish I've had since moving to Louisiana a year ago (and believe me when I say I've made it my mission here to have my fill of fried catfish statewide) and the portion sizes are monstrous. I got 2 full meals out of one dish! Catfish so fresh, it melts in your mouth. The flavor is light, buttery. THIS IS HOW YOU CATFISH! The breading was light, with enough seasoning to flavor without overpowering the fish. Cooked to perfection, and not a minute longer! On that note, you can't beat the prices. There's quite a few seafood places around this area and near Lake Maurepas, but their prices were astronomical. This is truly a hidden gem. The customer service made me feel like a visiting friend! This was the comfort food meal to end all meals on this dreary, slow fishing day! read more

This place is very unpretentious but very yummy! Now, the place is far from fancy but the food and friendly service more than make up for it. I've been here a couple of times and they probably have Ponchatoula's best fried shrimp. You can get it as a dinner where they're bigger, or as a basket, where they're popcorn shrimp, but both are flavorful and PLENTY. I've also tried their cheeseburgers and they're yummy, a little bit too seasoned but definitely flavorful. I've also had their soft shell crab po boy but did not love the crab itself. However, the bread was good and it was dressed perfectly. The fries are good and large will feed two people. Overall, a solid 3 for the great fried shrimp and yummy po boy bread! My family and I order millside at least 2-3 times a month and it's never a bad meal! Definitely recommend. Crawfish could be cheaper though.
