5 Stars -- Incredible food, generous portions, and the BEST desserts!…read more We came in with a big group -- kids, grandkids, the whole family -- and we were blown away by how good the food was across the board. We started with the fried boudin balls and crispy house-smoked bacon. Both were delicious and packed with flavor. We also shared a bowl of red beans & rice, and even my one-year-old grandson devoured it (and wore a good portion of it on his face!). The brunch board was a huge hit -- such a fun assortment of waffles, pancakes, pastries, fruit, sausage, bacon, and more. Truly something for everyone, and perfect for sharing. For mains: * I had the Trout Almondine with cheese grits -- and those grits were honestly the BEST I've ever had. Creamy, cheesy, and perfect. * My daughter ordered the ribeye and loved it. * My husband had a burger and cleaned his plate. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. We weren't disappointed in a single item. And then... the desserts. Oh my goodness. We tried the cheesecake, pecan pie, and bread pudding. The cheesecake was the best I've ever had, and my daughter agreed. The pecan pie tasted like something straight out of a grandmother's kitchen -- my husband said it was the best he's ever had. The bread pudding was rich, warm, and equally delicious. The staff was friendly and patient with the kids, which made the evening stress-free and fun. Bottom line: we loved everything -- from appetizers to dessert -- and we will absolutely be back!

We got here around 8ish in the evening and it was raining so not many people here. So we propped up at the bar and ordered. I was in a martini mood so Gin martinis were my calling; they made them the way I like: slightly dirty w/ extra olives. I can't remember how many of those I ordered but they went down smooth. I didn't want to order anything heavy so I decided on the Brussels Sprouts and a cup of the Chicken/Andouille Gumbo. The Brussels were crispy and had a nice soy glaze to cap it off. They garnished it with some peeled scallions which gives a nice finish. I'm a sucker for Brussels Sprouts; if they're on the menu, I'm very likely gonna order them. The gumbo was pretty good, had a tomato richness to it. I forgot what my friend ordered; probably cause I had too many martinis. It's about a 10-15 minute drive from Hammond but it's worth it. Check it out when you're in the area!

After a stop in Pass Manchac looking for outside dining but finding a jammed inside-only restaurant…read morewith no masks, we headed up US 51 into Ponchatoula to look for an alternative. J Rucker's was listed as open, but when we arrived no one was there and it was marked closed. When we called, we were told "yes, we are open" but no one appeared in front. Finally just as we were about to drive off, someone came running across the parking lot. "We are open, and you can sit outside." After that little bit our time confusion (to the restaurant's credit, we were looking for a place around 4:30 in the afternoon and some listings showed a 5 pm opening, while others implied open from lunch to dinner. No big deal), we got seated and offered menus. "Fried ribs" jumped out immediately as (1) unhealthy in many ways (2) unique and (3) of course, something we have to try once. We put in an order for that, along with fried shrimp and stewed chicken. Unfortunately a few minutes later the kitchen informed our server that fried ribs would not be offered that evening. I changed to stewed chicken. For starters, the fried broccoli and boudain balls were hot, fresh, not greasy, and served with a house dipping sauce that had a bit of kick. The stewed chicken arrived in the dense gravy on rice, tasty but beware also on the salty side (this bothered some other diners in my party more than me). The fried shrimp actually might have been the best thing on the table: hot, crispy, with almost like a tempura texture served on a bed of thin-sliced french fries. We were stuffed and facing a ride back to the south shore, so no dessert..."but tell us what you have, anyway." One of the options was "Bananas Foster ice cream." Uh oh, looks like we ARE having dessert. Highly recommended, with a strong banana flavor and actually frozen bits of ripe banana in there. (Some may not like that texture, but didn't bother me one bit). Chicken and waffles are one of the options for entree, as is an ice cream and waffle dessert that looked good as it went out to another table.

5/5 -- A Ponchatoula Gem You Have to Try…read more If you ever find yourself anywhere near Ponchatoula, do yourself a favor and stop at Toula Burger on W Pine Street. I walked in expecting a good burger... I walked out questioning why every other burger in my life hasn't been held to this standard. From the jump, the vibe feels like what a small-town Louisiana burger spot should be: warm, welcoming, and buzzing with people who clearly know they're in for something special. You can tell the crew cares -- not just about making food, but about creating a place the community is proud of. I ordered the signature burger, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the kind of bite that makes you pause. Perfectly seasoned beef, cooked exactly how I asked, layered with toppings that taste thoughtfully chosen rather than thrown together. The bun held everything like a champ -- soft enough to enjoy, sturdy enough to keep the whole experience tidy. It's the little things, and they nail every one. The fries? Golden, salty, addictive. The kind of fries you keep eating even after you're full because "just one more" somehow becomes ten. What really stood out, though, was the service. Ponchatoula is known for its hospitality, but the folks at Toula Burger take it to another level. Genuine smiles, real conversations, and you can feel the pride they have in what they've built. It's refreshing. To the owners: Y'all created something special here. You've got a spot that feels rooted in community but tastes like it belongs on a national "must-try" list. I'd love to know more about the inspiration behind the menu -- especially what led you to craft a burger that balanced richness and freshness so perfectly. Keep doing what you're doing; the attention to detail shows. I'll absolutely be back -- and I'll be bringing people with me.

He is a burger aficionado. While the hand patted Burger is fantastic, my husband commented that every single time he has been there the fries are lukewarm. I opted for a hand battered shrimp Poboy. The batter was really good. Served freshly fried. If you're weird about veins in your shrimp, these are not deveined shrimp. The problem is that the bread to shrimp ratio is off. It's a really thick bread. The restaurant atmosphere is so quaint and homey. The staff was so friendly. I can chalk the bread thing up to personal preference but they need to do better with hot fries.

Babyyyyy let me tell y'all... I would have gone out HAPPY Saturday night after eating here and that…read moreis NOT an exaggeration ‍ From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was so peaceful and welcoming. And can we talk about the music?! Christian music playing the whole time -- that's all we listen to, so my son was over there having his own little concert knowing every word lol. It just felt GOOD in there. Now listen... they were BUSY busy (Saturday night, so we expected that), and we were starvingggg, so we skipped the appetizers -- which honestly hurt my feelings a little because they sounded SO good And I HAVE to shout out the server/owner -- because baby, my dad is 80 years old and will talk to ANYBODY about ANYTHING. When I say they handled him like a pro... I mean patient, kind, laughing with him, never rushing him off -- just truly good people. If you know, you know Let's get into the food though I ordered the BBQ bacon cheeseburger (no onions) with fries... AND a fresh squeezed lemonade that was absolutely BOMB ‍ Like refreshing, perfect, not too sweet -- I could've had about three of those, easy My dad got the surf & turf burger, my sister got a regular burger, my brother-in-law had the crawfish étouffée with fried catfish, and my son got chicken fingers. We did have a bit of a wait, but honestly it gave us time to sit, talk, and enjoy being together -- no complaints there BUT BABY... when that food hit the table... Not. One. Word. Except "OMG this is the best thing I've ever eaten!!!" That burger?!?! I'm not even kidding -- I would request that as my LAST MEAL. It was THICK, juicy, cooked perfectly. The bacon? Crispy perfection The sourdough bun? Soft, fluffy, just holding everything together like it was sent from Heaven The BBQ sauce wasn't overpowering -- just right. AND let me say this... I am the DIPPING SAUCE QUEEN I normally need ranch, ketchup, something on the side at all times... but this burger?! I didn't touch a single sauce. Not ONE. It stood on its own and didn't need a thing I did not stop eating until it was GONE. No to-go box. No shame. No regrets. I usually can't even finish a burger anywhere, but this one?? I couldn't put it down. And when I tell you EVERYONE cleaned their plates -- I mean EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. Even my son, who is VERY picky about his "chicken nuggets," was tearing those chicken fingers UP and talking about how good they were So will I be back? ABSOLUTELY. Will I recommend it? Already have ‍ Will I start a petition (or boycott ) if they ever take that burger off the menu? Don't test me.
