Having said that, this is a drinking and pool playing bar. We sat at the bar, and the waitress/bartender told us it used to be a strip club. There are no windows anywhere, so my wife had already predicted that. It was Saint Patrick's Day, so most of the patrons, and us, were wearing green. They had green clover wall hangings and other appropriate decorations. I thought that was a nice touch. Lots of locals, who know each other, hang out at this bar. They do allow dogs inside. The mood inside was boisterous and energized. Since it was St. Patty's day and we were in Texas, I ordered a Yuengling Black & Tan. This consisted of a porter mixed with premium beer. A clean, refreshing beer. After downing that, I ordered the ingredients to create a black trash. I poured a Guinness on top of MGD. You could substitute Budweiser for the MGD. This wasn't pairing well and the Yuengling was much better. I ended the night with a dirty blonde, Guinness on top of Stella Artois. Our waitress let me use a bar spoon to float the Guinness on top of both these drinks. The dirty blonde tasted better than the Black Trash and was more balanced. If you want some cheap drinks, friendly service and relaxation, than visit this local, "real" bar.

The menu comes from Toscana Italian restaurant upstairs, and we enjoyed every dish. For appetizers, we had the spinach artichoke dip and pretzel bites--very creamy, and the pretzel bites were warm and delicious. We also tried two salads: the BLT Wedge Salad and the Shaved Brussels Sprout Parmesan Salad. Both were hearty and very filling. We finished with the chocolate pistachio cake, which was a delightful dessert. Happy Hour: Their website advertises $6 liquor Monday through Friday from 5-7 PM. However, the bartender didn't seem to honor it, saying happy hour is upstairs--though that's not what the website states. He did make it right by charging only for two drinks, which equaled the price of the three drinks that should have been on happy hour. Hopefully they begin honoring the posted happy hour pricing. Every Tuesday night at 7PM they have pub trivia. This is what has kept me coming back week after week. The set up is simple, easy, and free to play. First and second place get gif cards ($50 and $25 respectively). It would be cool to see third place get something small but I'm not complaining. Any tavern that looks like a Country Kitchen with a neon Truckers Welcome sign out front is for real. I still don't know the smoking rules in Texas after all these years but it doesn't matter here either way: you're gonna walk outta here smelling like Grandma's ashtray. Hey, the place was clean and reminiscent of the mobile home I grew up in, wood paneling and all. I got a couple of stiffies here for a good price but they were top shelf at least, I might have been getting the stranger treatment. Nice bartender though. When I was there it was just several dudes talking loudly about their guns (they all seem to think they are imminent victims of attack) but the vibe was actually chill and full of mirth as it were mostly. There was a black dude wearing a Confederate flag straw cowboy hat holding court who was mostly pretty funny. I mean, WTF but whatever, right? I don't know what to say. It was exactly what I expected. Would I personally go there every day? Probably not. Would you avoid it like the plague? Maybe. It is exactly what you would expect. Give it a go.
