fine EVOO, balsamic vinegars & epicurean market…read more Oli + Ve is my favorite place to explorer high quality global EVOO and finest white and dark balsamics. They are located on Canton in downtown Roswell. Look for the green house on the right a little past SALT on your left. I've been frequenting OV for the past 13 years. Originally, I shopped at their Vinings Jubilee location until the close and since then I've been shopping at this Roswell location. ++ Ambiance is a warm, intimately organized high end EVOO, fine balsamics and epicurean market. It's a gourmet cooks', especially Italian food lovers' dream food shop. +++ High quality variety of northern and southern hemisphere EVOOs and aged 18 years balsamics from domestic and global sources. OV's balsamics are CLEAN, made in the traditional solera style with no extras. They offer many fine infusions that are pretty much drinkable. My favorites are their Mediterranean blend and Cobrancosa EVOOs, grapefruit white balsamic and espresso dark balsamic that is absolutely incredible on vanilla ice cream. Their grapefruit white balsamic is delectable on salads. You can taste all the vinegars and EVOOs with tiny plastic cups so it's easy to figure out what you like. Beyond the oils and vinegars, they have a good size market. Much is from Italy such as fine dish towels and specialty pastas. More over, they sell silver and gold pour caps, hand blended seasonings, accessory dishes, jams etc. They also sell local artisan foods such as Mission sourdough breads and Voga gelati. On this visit, I brought a friend who recently moved to Atlanta and is needing to stock essentials for his pantry. He scored many oils, vinegars, pastas, pour caps and gifts. I discovered their white truffle infused oil and couldn't part without taking a large bottle home. It's my first white truffle infused oil I've liked enough to buy. It's made withOUT any extracts and is a smooooooth yet intense white truffle flavored EVOO. I've already got a recipe in mind for this finishing oil :). My friend also got a bottle as well. Oli + Ve is one of my favorite places for hostess gifts and for holidays. +++ Service is friendly and helpful. The owner is often present and is warm and informative. She has an amazing attention to detail and I think even Martha would have a difficulty finding faults. For example, they sell candles but each sample has a glass cover so they wouldn't overwhelm your sense of smell for customers who aren't interested in them or comingle scents for those who are interested. Since the closing of their Vinings location, they offer free deliveries to The Front Porch Market (Mountain St.) if you order online. = / + Price is high...though it's in line with high end gourmet food shops. + Parking is a designated spot / driveway in a private lot. Add'l parking can be had on street and other private lots nearby. YOLO Enjoy! MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

We just give him a cooking class with Chef Kyle! He raved about the classes so much that we decided to send our daughters to class too! It wasn't until I was in New Orleans and took my first cooking class there that I realized I had a thing or two to learn as well! I was so happy when Sur La Table opened a location near our home and that my husband's favorite chef moved from Phipps to this location! In the last month or two I have taken 5 classes with my neighbor and with my husband. I have learned so many tips and cooking techniques from Chef Kyle Shankman in that time that I am finding myself wanting to take every single class offered! He is a wonderful teacher, clearly very gifted as a chef but also just a natural born teacher. He clearly has a passion for what he is doing and we are lucky to have him at our Sur La Table. Their school motto is Learn. Eat. Laugh. You will find yourself doing all of that and more. We just got home from a "Date Night - Romantic French Dinner" class with our neighbors. I am still thinking about the Caramel Pear Pot de Crème. All four of us could have eaten 4 servings each but the great news is we can, we know exactly how to make them. In the past if I had seen this recipe in a cookbook or on a blog I would have passed it on by. I just wouldn't have trusted my skill level with any French sounding dessert. Chef Kyle made me realize there is really nothing I can't cook. The confidence I have gained is priceless. And the crazy thing about it is I am an experienced cook! The more I write the more I remember to tell you in this review but it's getting a little long-winded (which I am known for lol) so I will try to sum up the rest. When you take a class you will get an additional 10% off your purchases on the day of class with no product restrictions. If you are a new cook and you take these classes - lucky you. You will be light years ahead of your peers. If you are an intermediate or even an experienced cook, these classes will renew your passion for cooking delicious meals. Kyle taught me to make just a slight adjustment in how I hold my knife and now believe it or not, I am enjoying slicing and dicing. This comes in handy since I am an avid cook. Sign up for a class and don't be surprised if you see me there too! Bon Appetit!

This turned out to not be too great. While I am sure that many people learn a bit when they go to…read morethese classes, I did not. Couple specifics: (1) they had a pastry chef doing a "date night" class...the "regularly scheduled" chef had "other things to do"..and when I pay $70 for someone, I want that someone...so bad on Sur La Table for allowing that to happen. BTW...the pastry chef did an ok job...not her fault (2) The meat...the chef or assistants butchered the meat...and not in a good way! Beef Tenderloin is quite easy to butcher correctly...but this was hacked up...and...they had several really nice pieces...but..."those were for the staff." Hmmm...customer service anyone? This did not work out...probably will not be back for any classes here...

The food is unique, clean, well thought out with flavors that interest both the traditional Korean pallette, and those who are looking to dip their toes into the Korean cuisine. The coffee and baked goods weren't too sweet (which is a compliment to the korean baked goods industry) 2. The environment felt personal, thoughtful, and intentional. From the Art on the walls, to the chair socks on the feet of the chairs, you knew that care was put into everything. 3. It is truly a family run business as every employee seemed to be connected in one way. The owners, Jeanne and Julie stopped by to ask how we were enjoying our meal, and a quick stop turned into a 10 minute conversation about their history and passion of this business. I had the Pork Belly toast (Braised Pork Belly, Soft Scrambled eggs, arugula, and gochujang mayo on a really good Sourdough toast). Not greasy or gamey, and just large enough to have for lunch. To drink it was the Iced Hojicha Latte. I added some sweetener which balanced out the earthiness of Hojicha. My wife had the OG Bibimbap with Beef and Purple Rice (Purple rice FTW). It too was a great balance of traditional and modern Bibimbap. She had a Citron Tea that warmed the "Heart and Seoul" I can't wait to go back to explore the other items on the menu. Updates to come.

What we ordered: Apps: * Fattoush salad - Fresh and full of flavor with crisp radishes, cucumbers, tomato, and a nice hit of sumac. * Dill labneh - Flavor-packed and delicious, though a bit thick, which made it harder to scoop with the soft pita. Mains: * Chicken barg - Phenomenal. Incredibly flavorful and easily the star of the meal. The house dressing on the side was addictive - I was literally scooping up extra rice just to dip into it. I substituted the rice for grilled veggies (up charge of +$7 felt extreme esp considering the entree was already $30) but the veggies were absolutely delicious. Squash, zucchini, peppers, onion, pineapple. * Honey harissa chicken - Disappointing. Lacked flavor, cook wasn't great, and didn't compare to similar dishes elsewhere (DelBar) * Adas pollo rice - Decent with a nice crunchy exterior, but overall just okay in both flavor and portion. Also doesn't compare to DelBar's. Service: We sat at the bar. Our bartender seemed newer and struggled a bit, but her teammate stepped in and really elevated the experience with great service and humor. Overall: Great vibes, strong bar, and some truly delicious food. A few misses, but the highlights make it easy to recommend.

It was kind of a lot, but that's also due to the menu, which took me awhile to decide on what to eat. Our server was attentive and helpful. We had questions, and he answered to the best of his abilities. He also brought out chips and sauces while we were looking through the menu and described each sauce. We liked the jalapeno and garlic ones the most! The arepa tour was a nice way to try different flavors without having to commit to one choice. The arepas tasted good, though I definitely preferred some over others. If you are not a savory and sweet enjoyer, I would not recommend Pabellon as you can taste the fried plantain in each bite. I liked it, but my friend found it an odd combination. I wasn't the biggest fan of shredded chicken, but that's bc it's typically dry, and while this wasn't super dry, it wasn't exactly as flavorful as the other options. For the main course, the asado negro sounded right up my alley as the arepa version went into detail with how the beef is braised in red wine and sugar cane. It left much to be desired when I ordered the big plate non-arepa version. Just off looks, it wasn't as visually appealing as others' dishes were. Eating it... well, the meat was very, very dry. The sauce was fine, but it didn't help with the dryness of the meat. I most likely ordered wrong since everything else was great. I got quesillo for dessert, which was described as flan, and I found it pretty good. Thicker than I'm used to and not as smooth but with a lovely cinnamon flavor.

The sauces are a real highlight, especially the gochujang-based one, which was absolutely phenomenal. They're generous with the sauce, too, which adds even more flavor to an already well-executed dish. That said, it's hard to ignore the price point. This is easily the most expensive Korean fried chicken spot I've been to. While the quality justifies the cost to an extent, it's still a noticeable jump from other similar places. And while the chicken is very good, it's not necessarily the best in Atlanta--though it's definitely in the top tier. Another thing that stood out was the lack of lower-cost or smaller portion options. There were only half and whole birds available, with no quarter bird or sandwich options, which makes it difficult for someone looking for a more affordable or lighter meal. It feels like they're missing an opportunity to appeal to a broader lunch crowd. In short: it's pricey, but you're getting high-quality, expertly prepared Korean fried chicken. Just be prepared to spend a bit more--and maybe come hungry.

I was excited to support a Black woman entrepreneur, since the landscape of Black-woman-owned franchise ownership is thin. But, oh well, it was founded by two American brothers, Kevin and Keith Mahan, and the cafe was recently sold to Denny's. Which brings me to my next point, it tastes like Denny's! That's when I discovered this was not Black-owned because the food was so basic, no soul, no flava, no trace of a Black woman made this food. I immediately pulled out my phone to look into the restaurant's history. And most of us can agree that Denny's is only good when you've been on the road for three hours, have to pee, and you're like oh-kay, "I guess I'll go in here and get something to eat before I get back on the road." Additionally, it's priced like it's something more, but it's not. Like I REALLY could have spent that $105 on my cooking, which actually slaps! Charging $5 for a potato needs to come with some onions, peppers, garlic, rosemary, or at least some salt and pepper. Sheesh. The bacon was gross, like how do you manage to make bacon gross? Well, Keke's nailed it. No flavor on anything, and by the time you finish piecing together your bland a-la-carte order, expect to pay about $22+ per person. Sigh, but on a lighter note, our server, Shandria, was sweet as pie and served us in a timely, friendly manner. Kudos to you, girl! Looking back, Zero STARS. Would not recommend unless you've been on the road for 3 hours and need to pee, there's nothing else but a Waffle House, and even then, I'd choose WH, and I don't even eat WH. Sigh...
