We walked over and were delighted to see the enomatic wine dispensers, with lots of wine in them. We started doing our own little wine tasting and started to like the wines we were tasting. Given that this was my son's 21st birthday and now legal to drink, I called him up and told him to finish his arcade experience. Since he doesn't really like drinking (I've tried to educate him at home at times) the tasting would be a good entry into wine. We had him drink a sweet moscato which we all liked. This is now his favorite wine . Not bad for a first timer. Elvis, I think he was the owner, heard our celebration and offered a bottle of Prosecco for the group. We all enjoyed a good toast and continued to go down the rows of wines. I love tasting flights of food and drinks so this place really was heaven to me. If you're thinking of hanging out and not sure of what wine to drink, definitely check out this place. You won't be disappointed.

When we arrived, what appeared to be the owner was greeting guests at the entrance. Since he was welcoming everyone and dressed differently from the rest of the staff, we assumed he was the owner. It was a great touch and immediately raised our expectations. Unfortunately, the experience did not fully match that first impression. We started with drinks: a glass of wine for me and an Old Fashioned for my wife. As happens too often in restaurants, the stronger drink was automatically assumed to be mine, and the drinks were delivered incorrectly. It's a small detail, but one that reflects attention--or lack of it. Bread arrived quickly, followed soon after by the food. I ordered the gnocchi with meat sauce. The dish was acceptable, but nothing extraordinary. My wife ordered the house seafood salad, which was very good--fresh, flavorful, and easily the best dish we had that night. Our waiter spoke limited English. Once he realized we also spoke his language, the service became noticeably more relaxed and somewhat overly familiar. He immediately tried to guide us toward the most expensive items on the menu. When I declined coffee after dinner, he responded by saying something along the lines of: "Well, that's your choice, but the coffee here is very good," which felt unnecessary. We also had a small issue with the Old Fashioned garnish. The orange peel looked unusual, so we asked for the drink to be replaced. The waiter did replace it, though he first tried to explain that what we thought were worms were simply marks on the fruit peel. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu, which the waiter promoted heavily as the best dessert to try. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. Instead of the classic layered presentation, it arrived more like a cup full of cream with a few pieces of soaked bread and very little coffee flavor. The issue was not just the dessert itself, but the expectations created when it was described. Bareli's is a beautiful restaurant with a great location and atmosphere, but the service details and execution didn't quite match the level suggested by the setting.

There was a bit of overcast and a potential for some drizzling rain, so the host placed us at one of their picnic tables under a canopy. The restaurant was not super crowded, so we were able to sprawl out across one of the larger tables. Though we would normally have had prime seats for people watching, there was a lot of construction going on in the area, so there were fences and barricades making up the bulk of our views. Regardless, the rain held off, and we enjoyed a nice meal with friendly and efficient service. While Bin 14 had always had some good cocktails, their wine list was their true star. I had often discovered some real winners from their list. Before I decided on my selection for that particular evening, I went back to my last review and saw my raving feedback of the 2019 Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. Shockingly, they still had that same vintage on the menu, two years later! Well, I immediately requested a glass of that, and the server nodded with a smile as if she knew I had found their secret gem. The wine was just as delicious as I remembered; it was well-balanced, fruity yet woodsy, robustly bodied yet easy to drink like a Pinot Noir. It was simply divine! My friend also asked me for a red wine recommendation, and I told her to try the 2021 Ratti Barbera D' Asti from Piedmont, Italy, as Barberas tend to be versatile and largely approachable as a varietal. She took the suggestion and was shocked at how much she enjoyed the wine. In terms of the food, I was very tempted to order a pasta dish, but decided to get two appetizers to enjoy in place of a singular main course. Their House Made Meatballs were good, but did not seem like they were all beef from a flavor perspective. Meaning, it seemed like there might have been pork or veal included, but I could not say for sure, as it was not noted on the menu. Either way, they were fine, but not amazing. I did like the marinara sauce that the two large balls were in, but the included pecorino cheese was way too strong and funky. I would have preferred milder ricotta or parmesan instead. The Mexican Street Corn dish, however, was fantastic! The kernels had been taken off of the husk and tossed with feta, cilantro, pickled red onion, and lime. Some of the cheese had remained in chunks, while other pieces melted into the corn. There were a few perfectly grilled shrimp placed on top of the delicious kernels. My friend had ordered the Grilled Hangar Steak Frites with a whiskey cream sauce, salted French fries, and crisp arugula. She, unfortunately, said it was just mediocre. It was nice to go back to Bin 14 after so long, and I was ecstatic to see that my favorite wine was still on their list. They have a good selection of craft beers and bitters so I picked up plum, as I already had grapefruit and some of the other. I will be back to get their Black Walnut. I also picked up Barr Hill for the Hubs, which the owner allowed me to taste prior to purchasing and it's beyond delicious! It sings in my mouth. We're usually Hendricks folks but we may have to share our taste buds. The store's beautiful. Dark wood, sleek and contemporary with hints of industrial accents. It's NOT pretentious but classy and sexy. It's laid out super easy & friendly, even if you're a novice. They also have a humidor room. You can even splurge on caviar if you're feeling fancy. It's the ideal place to take a break between sprees at Prada and Hermès (kidding) but mostly just to escape the noise of the rest of the mall. You'd never guess this place is in the same building as an amusement park and a water park.

It had all of the flavors of Peruvian-style ceviche and had a lovely presentation. My entree of skirt steak with polenta fries was seamlessly executed. Unfortunately, the service at Drift was very poor, compared to Blu. Although the large restaurant was fairly empty inside and not at full capacity outside, service was slow and absent. Our waitress barely came by and neither did the bus boys - finally when I got up to refill my own cup of water, he darted over. There were multiple times my water glass was empty and no one in sight to offer a refill. Even the manager got a little attitude with me when I asked him to bring out new utensils (ours were cleared with our appetizers). We'd had already been waiting a while for our entrees to come and I could just anticipate all of our entrees coming out and us having no silverware to eat them with. Moving to the food, I thought the food was generally good, although not the best value. The rice balls were tasty but on the smaller side - they come 4 to an order. The whipped ricotta was yummy but the small plate of 4 pieces of focaccia is not sufficient for the amount. It's $2 for each extra plate of 4 slices. The rice cakes weren't as good as the ones at Blu. The beet salad was less of a salad and more like a plate of Greek yogurt with garnish around it - would not recommend. For entrees, several of us ordered sushi rolls. I thought the happy ending, Miyazaki and aloha rolls were good. My friend did not like her king California roll. The branzino and sea bass portions were small for the cost. We didn't order dessert since the meal moved so slowly and it was already late by the time we finished our entrees. We had to wait a while to get our check and then we got out of there. They also should have someone who checks the bathrooms regularly and tidies them up - the stall I went into was out of toilet paper in both dispensers and instead of replacing the empty rolls, they left the new one the dirty floor. All in all, I don't think I'd come back here again when practically the same restaurant is next door and I had better experiences there.
