Very disappointed in our experience tonight. We are new to town and some friends highly suggested Drake's. We joined them for dinner a few weeks back and had an enjoyable experience. Tonight was nothing short of a disaster. Food was mediocre but service was off the charts awful. We were there with our young kids and another family with young kids, so we're hoping for a quick dining experience. For starters, we weren't given kids menus and had to ask for them. Then, after ordering drinks, it took over 30 minutes to just get our waters. When we asked our waitress a second time for the waters when we saw her pass by, she just said "ok." To our surprise, there was no apology for having already waited 30 minutes. Kids were naturally getting incredibly hungry and wiggly by this point and we asked for crayons but were only given one little packet of crayons for the 4 kids to split. But alas... that was just the start. We ordered 2 sushi meals and 4 kids burgers. Nothing elaborate.... yet over 45 minutes after placing our orders, there we sat without our meals and watching the tables around us (who ordered much later than we had) have their food arrive. The added sting was that we weren't even give any updates on our meals. My husband, who is never confrontational, stopped our waitress and was clearly agitated when he asked her to check on our food since we had watched tables around us order after we had and they were already getting their bills and leaving the restaurant. She walked away to check (or at least I assume that's where she went...?) but never returned to give us any update. At this point, we are truly baffled. Close to an hour after ordering, my sushi arrived but since no one else had their food, I let it sit. About another 5-10 minutes later, a manager brought everyone else's food out and we were told that the kitchen was backed up. I pointed out that other tables around us didn't seem to have the experience of their food being delayed in the kitchen and she mentioned that she would comp the meal (or at least that's what we believed we had heard). When we asked for our check from the waitress after quickly gobbling down our incredibly average meals, she said she would issue 25% off our bill. This was different than what we all thought the manager had said but we now had 4 very tired and fussy kids and we just wanted out of the restaurant. When the bill came though, it appeared the 25% off wasn't even for the entire bill but just one meal!! In summary, although we had a nice experience during our first time dining at Drakes, tonight was so incredibly disappointing with the major delay in getting our food (clearly the order was forgotten about and never put into the system) and complete pack of apology, that we will not be eating here again. What a nightmare. At the end of the day, we all agreed that accidents happen but we would have appreciated any of the following: 1. An honest apology or acknowledgment to the major mess-up 2. A decent discount on the bill 3. A comped appetizer or something to tide 4 very hungry and active kids over for the hour while their burgers were taking so long to make. Oh! And one more thing... we went to the restroom and in both of the 2 bottles of hand soap at the sink, both just had a small amount of watered down soap inside. Drakes is second to none in my opinion. Their food and drinks are always exceptional. Tonight was different than other nights there. The fireplace caught fire and was sparking on the roof. The entire restaurant was evacuated before first responders even got there. The staff at drakes did an excellent job by being proactive and then even went as far as to comp our entire meal and all of the drinks. our server Jeremy, had done an amazing job, even prior to the incident and was always very attentive and friendly. Drakes will forever be one of my favorite places to go to in this area. They went above and beyond in my opinion. read more

First off, let me just say WOW. This was the first restaurant I've been in that has taken all of the preventative measures they could. My wife and I were very impressed. When you first walk in the staff is wearing masks and they check your temperature before seating you. They have every table lined with plexiglass on both sides of you as well as having it around the bar. I was very impressed by this. Some businesses complain about installing plexiglass but Drake's made it look easy. We ordered the Crab Rangoon Roll and had it as our appetizer and it was delicious. My wife ordered the Sriracha wings as a meal and they were probably some of the best wings we have had. We took the first bite and immediately looked at each other like "". She said they were the second-best wings she's ever had which are saying a lot! I ordered the Mimi Juicy Lucy burgers with sweet potato waffle friends it was amazing! We both order two flights of beers which you got four for $5 which is a really good company to some places. Overall, our experience was phenomenal and we'll be back again! read more

I already know I'm the odd man out in Nashville when it comes to my expectations of businesses taking COVID precautions, seeing as how mask-wearing and pandemic awareness now seem to be things of the past in this town. Other than Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, I have yet to see another business who actually has the confidence and consideration to truly enforce COVID guidelines. (And by the way, putting a giant sign on your door doesn't get you any brownie points, especially when the sign isn't reinforced.) Tonight, a friend and I placed an online order at Drake's (as first time customers), after bailing on our first-choice takeout restaurant, when we drove up to that one and saw not a mask in sight. With fingers crossed, we put our order in online at Drake's and drove over to the restaurant, hoping we would see a safer restaurant environment. As I pulled into the curbside delivery parking spot, I was relieved to see many staff members sporting masks. And in the instant that I let out a sigh of relief, I watched from the car as the bartender and two other servers ripped off their masks, behind the bar. Another female staff member pulled hers down past her chin and walked into the kitchen. Then I noticed that the server who was handling the outdoor seating area was wearing a mask, but with his nose fully exposed. As I sat there starving, my stomach immediately dropped, imagining that the food I was about to take home and eat was likely being prepared with the same disregard for protective gear and sanitary handling. This isn't a post to debate with the restaurant about whether COVID is real or not. Everyone is free to have that conversation on their own time, and I don't condemn anyone for believing what they want. But With COVID-19 still rampant, vaccine or not, it should be a no-brainer that PROPER precautions be taken in a food establishment, especially when your big screen TVs are broadcasting the COVID-19 headlines of record-setting numbers! It was equally hilarious and frustrating to see those news headlines scrolling by as I watched multiple servers and the bartender removing their PPE while on duty. My friend called the restaurant and asked that the order be cancelled and refunded immediately, due to what we had witnessed. Warren, who I'm guessing was the on-duty manager, happily obliged to issuing the refund and made no issue about the reason for the cancellation, which, as a businessman, I appreciated. However, the kicker came several minutes later, when Warren called back saying, "Hi, I'm wondering if you could tell me who you saw that wasn't wearing a mask. I just walked out into the dining room and everyone seems to be wearing their mask. Who did you see that wasn't wearing one?" My friend replied with our exact account, including mention of the outdoor server whose mask was not on correctly. Warren responded, "Oh, yes the bartender I see isn't wearing hers. But the server on the patio is wearing his." Friend: "Yes, he's got a mask on; but his nose is fully exposed." Warren replied, "Oh, so you prefer that the servers have the mask over their noses." Speechless is the only word to describe our reaction to that. YES, we do prefer that masks actually be worn the way they are designed to be worn and the ONLY way they have been proven to prevent the spread of COVID. This isn't rocket science here. If you're running an establishment where you're handling or serving food, during this pandemic, all guidelines should be followed, particularly the most basic and easiest one. Otherwise, don't be open for business. If patrons want to dine in at their own risk, let them take the risk. But you should be doing everything in your power to eliminate every risk possible on your end. Tonight, Drake's didn't do that; and while I'm glad to see management issued the refund, it is intensely disappointing to see so many businesses taking the pandemic and the health of customers so lightly. Moral of the story: train your staff to follow guidelines, or don't hire people who can't handle wearing a mask for a few hours a day. Not that hard. read more

Drake's is a perennial favorite for happy hour for my coworkers. It's always packed! While I think the seating arrangements leave a lot to be desired (not super flexible for groups, especially the rigid booths in the back), they do have a big menu, including sushi! Some might be wary ordering sushi at what seems to be a sports bar, but they do a really great job at it. They also have killer tater tots. I like that you can dine in the front bar area almost like a covered patio when the weather is nice. Parking can be a nightmare though, especially if the Starbucks drive-thru line is insane around the block. 3.5 out of 5 stars for me, A-OK, I don't choose to come here but I won't say no if I'm meeting up with friends. read more

Our recent dining experience at Drake's was horrible. After my beer was gone I waited 10 minutes and finally whistled to get the bartenders attention. She said "I didn't hear you for all of the noise". That's a bad excuse. I never called out. It was not loud. There were only a few patrons talking. I whistled after trying to catch her attention as she passed by us over and over and over again without ever looking in our direction. We were sitting at the bar so we were maybe 3' from her face if she would only look with her eyeballs or turn her head in our direction. My husband said both bartenders worked really hard to ignore us. I give them kudos for that. The BEST part of our horrible experience is that after ordering beers and the fried pickle appetizer the bartender said she would bring us plates and silverware. I found one napkin 2 stools down so I ate off of the napkin because, you guessed it, we never got silverware, plates or napkins. We ate our entire meal without silverware. I had to whistle to get a water. I don't enjoy eating without some type of liquid drink. I sat there for 10 minutes after getting my entree just waiting on one of the bartenders to look at me so I could beg for a drink. Congratulations to the two WORST bartenders ever at Drake's. Let me start by saying as a bartender. This was by far the worst experience that I've ever had. My husband and I were the only people sitting at the bar and not only did we get terrible service, but the bartender rolled her eyes at me when I asked her for silverware. Nina M was too busy on her phone and sitting down to even wait on my husband and I. Again we were the only people at the bar. I had to ask for a refill on water not to mention she stood at the computer in the middle of the bar, and basically had us yell our order out to her because she was too lazy to ride it down and walk three steps. It was very uncomfortable. Then she proceeded to chat with her friends and not check on us one time. I had to ask two separate waitresses for silverware and to get the check. My husband and I were late to the movie because we were waiting on her to check us out. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband ordered a steak and we sat there for five minutes waiting on silverware or even a napkin. None of those ever became available until I had to get up and ask her while she was sitting down on her phone if we could have some silverware. She said "ya in a minute." Again as someone in the service industry I was absolutely appalled. By the way we were disrespected. She also ran out of champagne, which is understandable on a Sunday, but gave me a glass that was not even half full and said oh, we ran out and then charge me full price for the half full drink. Finally two more patrons came up to the bar and were treated just as disrespectfully. As this is our first time at this establishment, the food was good but thanks to Nina we will never be back. She was absolutely atrocious and writing. A review is not some thing I do often but being treated so poorly calls for such. Disgusting is an understatement. We always go here for lunch. I love the relaxed vibes I get from this place. So, the ambiance is 10/10. You have plenty of parking too. Now, the main part....food: I just love their burgers. I have tried most of their burgers and, they just taste amazing. Always had tater tots on the side. I'm not into sushi but, I heard they are famous for their sushi. DON'T ever order their tofu soup or whatever that is called. I had my doubts when I was ordering it and, I should have listened to my gut feeling. Overall, this place is awesome. Beer, burgers and sushi! I mean that like the three main food groups right? The burgers are excellent. Great beers selection. I love the juicy Lucy's. They stay open late have a full bar. The front and back are like two separate restaurants. Upfront versus comfortable chairs and fireplace as well as high tops. In the back is a more traditional bar but then numerous booth for dinner. They have traditional bar games. I like that they are open late. Mainly that the kitchen is open late. I think the tater tot's are some of the best in town. I haven't had the sushi roll so I can't comment on that. Burgers and sandwiches are all excellent. read more

Hold your horses guys and dolls -- there's 2 menus! I settled quickly on Sushi - a Tempura Shrimp Roll ($7.50) which was good, but my buddy got the crab rangoon roll ($8.95), which was amazing and in an even more amazing sauce. Little did I know there is a whole second menu with everything from burgers, salads, tacos, and fish & chips! I enjoyed this fun and energetic environment! There are 2 rooms, and both are centered around a bar ("Matilda...get the tequila! It's a party!"). Asked the bartender to put the election on one of the 8 TVs above the bar. After she spoke to her manager she informed us he made the decision to not put politics on tonight. First time dining, since I just landed in TN the same day... PHENOMENAL service, great management, and great food! We had the mushroom Swiss burger, the patty melt, and crispy fish tacos with the chips n dip's and a free cookie for desert. (WARNING: portions are HUGE!!) The manager and waitress were surprised to hear that we were from Vegas and offered the cookie in place of the fried Twinkie we wanted to try... 10/10 best start to a vacation!
