Kung Pao Shrimp, DISGUSTING! & No peanuts. Frozen nasty shrimp. They charge u extra for this!
    Elizabeth L.

I ordered Kung pao shrimp, paid extra for it. I got it with chow mein noodles, and fried rice. I also ordered eggrolls. The shrimp was the most disgusting I've ever tasted, it was obviously frozen shrimp, and the sauce was very spicy, no peanuts. I only ordered this because I like the crunch, which there was none. I would've rather had a cup of noodles. The eggrolls were so tiny, it's like the size of a finger. Way too expensive, everything was mushy inside. I will never ever ever order from here again, and this is my second time ordering. Also the chow fun noodles are a joke. Seriously, a cup of noodle taste better than this place.

    That's the "chicken wings"

First and last time ordering at this place. Ordered two orders of fried chicken wings, each $4.99. Well, they weren't wings, but two chopped up drumsticks that were fried. Yuck, it was literally all bone. Just gross and wasted $10. The BBQ pork tasted like it had sat for days, dried up and cardboard texture, waste of $9.99. Shrimp chow fun, at $9.99, was over salty, and was made using cocktail shrimp. Who does that? The only good thing was the steamed dumplings.

Here getting a Postmate order. This Place is HOT AS HELL. But it was really nice at the people came and brought the food outside because I was about to give them a bad review.

It really goes to show how the surrounding community that has a balance of different ethnic group comes to appreciation the good flavor and quality of this Chinese cuisine. The services here are very friendly and attentive. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you come in an hour before they close they will let you know that in advance. I think the intent is so you order fast and don't linger. Not a negative for me since my family usually is pretty quick about eating and going. They are also pretty good with customizing their ingredients. My wife is gluten free so we would ask that they not add in soy sauce or oyster sauce in some of the dishes that we know can still work without those two ingredients. You would need to know how to customize it yourself as I don't think they would know what to do if you simply say no gluten. Overall, I really don't have anything negative to say about this place. We walk in hungry and happy and we come out full and satisfied.

I should've taken this gesture immediately as an unwillingness to seating us. I responded with no, party for 2, and another lady comes running over and says "but we close at 9" in which I responded, I'm well aware, but can we still order? they both responded with yes so i said okay can we seat? in which she responded with again, "but we close at 9." really not sure what's up with the people running this restaurant, but if you don't want the business or if you just want to close earlier, then do that. there are plenty of sichuan places in the SGV (and quite honestly probably better tasting) than this place. take your business elsewhere. PS - also seeing recent yelp reviews about trending terrible service, please just run from this place. if they don't want your business, don't force your time and money down their throats. i'm not interested in eating bloody chicken anyways.

I want to say there had been at least 10 orders before I finally set foot into the restaurant, only because my nephew's birthday was being celebrated there. The place looked like it had been newly remodeled/refreshed. It was nice and clean inside, but as lots of restaurants did during and after Covid, they ended up using some of dining space for excess storage, so there was a little section that was a bit cluttered, but that didn't bother me. I was there for the food (oh, and a birthday party...hahaha!) The food here is solid, and consistently delicious, even after they changed owners. Some of my favorites that I order on repeat: Orange Peel Chicken Honey Walnut Shrimp Salt & Pepper Pork Chop Salt & Pepper Fish French Style Filet Mignon My only gripe, is when it changed owners, the prices jumped quite a bit, so I had to cut back on the frequency of my orders. When I was shopping around for catering party trays, they were higher than all the others. Still though, the food is that good, so while I may not be willing to spend the money on party trays, I'll continue ordering from here for regular meals.

My favorites were the Shanghai spicy shrimp and pork wontons and the beef tenderloin udon with black pepper. Both are considered spicy dishes but I have a weak spicy tolerance and I did not think that they were spicy at all! The pan fried dumpling skirt was crispy and instantly melts in your mouth. The sesame peanut noodles have been disappointing the last three times I've ordered them. They barely add any sauce anymore, so the noodles taste bland. Instead, they throw in a ton of minced garlic and especially minced ginger, which completely overpowers the dish. It doesn't taste anything like it used to. The service has also gotten worse. I asked an employee in Spanish if I could have a straw. She acted like she didn't understand me, so I asked again in English, and she still said she didn't understand. I just said never mind. But a few minutes later, my aunt asked the same employee in Spanish for more water, and suddenly she understood perfectly. That honestly left me confused. The employees also come off as rude and unfriendly. Then, when it's time to pay, they practically shove the tablet in your face while standing there watching you. We were a party of four, yet there was a $16 gratuity added, and on top of that they asked us how much extra tip we wanted to leave. It feels like you're being pressured into tipping twice instead of it being your choice. It's honestly sad because this place used to be so good. I've noticed fewer people eating there lately, and if the food quality and customer service keep getting worse, I can see why. I hope management takes this seriously and brings Thumbling back to what it used to be.

The kung pao chicken had a great savory flavor with just the right amount of kick and a good crunch from the peanuts, while the orange chicken had a really good, tangy sweet glaze to it. The minced chicken lettuce wraps were fresh and super flavorful, and the egg drop soup was pure comfort in a bowl and came out piping hot. The absolute standout was definitely the deep fried fish fillet. The batter was super light and airy, and the fish inside was perfectly flaky and tender. We paired it all with the vegetable lo mein, which was loaded with veggies and the noodles weren't mushy at all, which is always a win.
