My brother needed to play a round of Star Wars Imperial Assault for a school class, and I had been wanting to try it out, so I came down and played it with him and a few other people. We went downstairs and had a nice big table and chairs available to us. It was nice to have space to play where it was nice and quiet and we could all easily hear each other. You can bring your own games to play or also borrow a game from their game library to play. It's a good idea and obviously brings in potential customers. After playing the game I felt like I should probably buy something to support the store that had let us use their room for 2 hours. I ended up picking up a Spider-man dice master set as well as some boosters. Prices on these items were good, slightly above Amazon. Buying small items is never an issue and usually worth the price. The issue at small local stores like these is the price on larger items. Star Wars Imperial Assault was $99 + tax here. I can get it on Amazon for $60. I know, I know, we need to support local businesses and all that, but for a $40 price difference I have to go to Amazon on things like this. I'll buy the expansions from my local shop. They've got a good amount of tournaments and game nights going on, definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and like playing games.

Walking around the Gateway District in downtown Salt Lake City when we came across this comic…read morebook/hobby store. We actually found this place unexpectedly right after parking the car in the nearby parking garage and my LTP, who enjoys collecting comic books, wanted to pop in and see what they had here. If you're a comic book nerd, then this is the place for you. They have a lot of awesome stuff in here. All their comic book selections that they have available are in boxes located in the back of the store and are listed in alphabetic order for easy browsing. They also have comic books that are permanently sealed and can't be opened. When I was little, I was a huge, huge fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, and seeing some of those here brought me back to my childhood. Along with comic books, they also have puzzles, trading cards, board games, and a collection of the world's smallest things, like the world's smallest Godzilla and the world's smallest Barbie doll. They had the world's smallest Magic 8 ball as well and I tested one while it was in the package. It was so small that I couldn't read the text after I shook it. We love working on puzzles in our free time and we would've bought one if we weren't working on one back at home right now. This was a cool place to step into. Very spacious and lots to choose from, you could spend hours and hours in here.

Jacob and Lee are fun as they run the board game league. They also have casual play night on Tuesdays where people are welcome to come and play games for free. Available games to play are downstairs. They are attached to a Mexican food restaurant so there are sometimes food smells that waft in to the game side, but it is not bad. If you come for game nights you are welcome to bring your own food as long as its not messy. I recommend you bring your own drink as there isn't fountain as part of the store. They have a pretty good selection of games.

Everything you'd want in a game/comic store. Plenty of selection, helpful staff (more on that…read morelater), snacks, places to play different games, sensible layout, and a bathroom :) What stands out most however is the staff. So many other stores the staff can be condescending and/or ignore you. They're helpful without being overbearing. I've brought my kids (ages 10 to 4) and without exception the staff has always been kind to them and even occasionally given them free comics and things. On the not as positive, it's a bit dark, but I've never been to a comic or game store that was brightly illuminated, and I'm sure for some that's a positive. It's not so dark that you can't see the products, I just wouldn't mind it a bit brighter. The location is on state and the street is kind of busy, but I've always been able to park in front, I'm not sure what they do when they have events. They do daily events like Magic, Star Wars RPG, mini painting, etc. It's MY game store, and I couldn't be happier.

Later on, when things got hard in our family, he would always take me here to buy new yugioh cards and help me build a deck, so that he could take our minds off of everything. I will always be grateful to this shop for those wonderful moments with my brother, and even though we don't talk much anymore, I still play with the cards that he helped me get. Honestly walking in, it looked like a normal book store until she walked me to the back. Walking through the gate door is where the view changes. I was in awwww! How cool is the set up of this place. I had no clue it was a 2 leveled book store. It was neat looking at the lower level. The shelves prettily speckled with color cause of all the books. I was able to look at all the old school historical books when we were walking in and out. How neat to have so much history on your shelves! We were in a time schedule so I wasn't able to really dig into them. I have seen some pretty neat places while I'm here in SLC for a bit. I'm happy I got to add this book store to that neat list. I'm hoping to make it back so I can check out the lower level.

Found a good art book. Felt like my college days. Totally beats shopping books online! The staff isn't very friendly; they are more like librarians with attitudes. But friendly staff isn't what I look for at a place like this so it's all good.
