I had a very disappointing experience today. I walked the store multiple times trying to find a picture frame and eventually asked an employee for help. She said staff at her American Fork location are unable to look up or help locate items, even when I showed her the SKU online, and suggested I go to another store instead so workers can help me physically look there. When I asked why no one could help physically look in-store, I was told they were short-staffed and that someone was "at lunch" at 6:15pm At checkout the cashier scanned my ceramic vase and set it on tissue paper. One of the most annoying things about Hobby Lobby is their timing for seasonal items. If you want anything for Halloween for example, you will have to go in September. By the beginning of October it's all Christmas and a little bit of Fall, (they actually start putting Christmas out in August, which seems crazy). By the end of October it will be all Christmas. This chain in general is the cat's pajamas for anyone into basically any kind of craft. They have supplies for sewing, fiber arts, dioramas, jewelry, paper arts, painting, dyeing- you name it. In addition to that, there is a great selection of home decor items including several furniture pieces. (The home decor is mostly shabby chic/ country but there are plenty of boho and industrial pieces as well.) Ooh, it's an awesome source for basic party supplies, too! My favorite thing about Hobby Lobby, however, is the markdowns. Everything in the store is on a constant 50% off sale rotation. Sometimes, it's everything made of glass. Sometimes, the baskets. Sometimes, ceramics. It's a penny pincher's dreamland. The American Fork location in particular is not quite as well stocked as some of the other ones I've been to. I am a REGULAR here I have a craft business and have to go numerous times a month and sometimes weeks. They are by far the most organized location I've been to (American Fork) and super helpful! The one thing I wish they were better on was labeling their sale tables Better. There have been by unwrought occasions where I'll go buy something and am expecting it to be on sale because there is a discount sign above it, but it's not correct. So fixing that would make things perfect! read more

TL;DR: I was overcharged for an item and had to wait 40 minutes for them to review camera footage to confirm I bought the item, so that I could return it. I was treated like a thief over a less than $13 return. Won't be back. I just bought a new house and have been buying hundreds of dollars (actually, probably closer to $1000) of decorations from Hobby Lobby. I'm the type that likes to buy everything I love, then try to find a place for it in my home. If it doesn't work out, I return it with my saved receipts. The American Fork Hobby Lobby is closest to my home, so that is where I chose to do the returns. Whilst gathering my returns, I noticed that I was overcharged for one of the items I was returning. (Because Hobby Lobby is in the Stone Ages and doesn't have individual UPCs for products and the prices are all manually entered by employees, it's easy to see how I could have been charged incorrectly.) But instead of simply making a return, they made me wait for 35-40 minutes so they could call another Hobby Lobby where I bought the item and review the purchase footage to make sure I actually bought the item for that price. Twenty minutes would have been excessive, but I was made to wait FORTY. After the 40 minutes and me repeatedly asking the cashier to just get my receipt back, the manager came back out to apologize for the wait, said it was taking longer than expected to review the footage, and offered to take the item from me and I could come back later after they finished reviewing the footage. Seriously?! I was at the point where I said I'd just skip the return and leave with my item. I was told I couldn't leave with the item because they weren't sure I purchased it in the first place. I was basically being accused of being a thief over a less than $13 item. Ummm... are you kidding me?!? That's crazy on multiple levels, but if I was a thief, would I return with the item I stole?... and then wait 40 minutes to be caught in the act?... No. It's absurd. I painstakingly tracked down every item and price on my receipts to make sure that that I was returning on the correct receipt, at the "correct" price (read: incorrectly overcharged in the first place). At this point, I was mad and called them out on their terrible customer service. The manager then bent and decided to help me since other customers could see my outrage. She was going to give me a $1.07 credit, and when I said the item was worth more than a dollar, she said, "I didn't do the math" very snarkily. She apparently thought I wanted a price adjustment and not a return, which makes the 40 minute wait even CRAZIER. They were going to check camera footage for a $1 credit?! Anyway, I made the return and there was no apology for treating me that way. They didn't tell me I was right; they just did the bare minimum to appease me. Definitely won't be back to this location EVER. read more

Lacking in customer service. while standing in line for custom framing the employee at the desk looked about about 5 minutes later and stated "I'm going to be a while here. Do you want to come back?" Um no I don't. I live in Draper so driving to AF is already inconvenient. So complaint without a suggestion is Just whining. How about you call another employee to come help me? Maybe let me know how long the wait actually is? Have a ticket system like the fabric department? I guess I'll try Michaels or another home store. That's the beauty of competition. I love Hobby Lobby in general but I prefer the AF store to the Orem store. I prefer the layout of the AF store more and the parking lot is more accessible. They always have super cute decor, doormats and lots of other items. The service here is always super helpful and quick, I will be back. :) read more

This review just has to do with the 9 foot Christmas tree we bought yesterday. I was all excited because it was pre-lit so I didn't have to string too many extra lights. Well, as I'm adding a few more lights because it isn't that bright, I start to notice like 1/2 of the lights that came on the tree do not work. So now I get to string even more lights than I expected which is a tad overwhelming and very annoying. Now I'm believing the rumors that "Black Friday" products are made crappier than when items are at regular prices. I would pay more to not have to string more lights, not worth it. read more

I really like hobby lobby. It is a fun place to go into and just browse around. I have gotten a lot of decorating supplies here and they always have unique things to choose from. I enjoy all of their uplifting quotes on decorations or wall hangings. They have a fabric section which is limited but useful. They have some things for children that make good gifts. Their silk flower and wreath selection is very reasonably priced. Well, especially when they are on half price. It seems that every other week 1/2 of the store or the other is on half-price sale. So, figure out what you need and when it's going to be on sale. I had a large picture framed there. They did a very good job on that. It wasn't inexpensive but may have been for what I got. This is a great place to get holiday and party decorations as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, I really appreciate having this store available to me. read more

TERRIBLE custom framing job and the most AWFUL CUSTOMER TREATMENT by the manager on duty. Three pictures that I got framed all fell off their mat boards within a week. This was an original and extremely valuable artwork handled by undertrained framing staff. When I came back to get a refund for something that fell apart so quickly (not by my fault), they didn't want to give me a refund and made a HUGE deal about it. After a very long wait time they gave me the refund, ripped the tape off my paintings and then proceeded to take the custom mats back (and most likely threw them in trash afterwards because they were custom and they can't resell them). Nobody apologized for doing a crappy job framing our pictures and inconveniencing us by having to come back.The manager gave me and my mom a dirty mean look when we were leaving. I used to love shopping at Hobby Lobby since I was a kid. We are talking about long years of business. Now I will choose to shop somewhere else. This was beyond bad customer service.
