I hired Landmark Computer in the spring of 2010 when my 4-year-old Dell up and died one morning. I…read morecalled several computer fix-it places and decided on Landmark because the person who answered the phone (who turned out to be the owner, Bud Stolker) took the time to talk through what had happened in the computer's last moments, seemed like he knew what he was talking about, gave a reasonable-sounding price estimate, and said he would come to our house on a weekend to pick up the computer. I was incredibly happy with Landmark's service. It turned out our hard drive was failing. The backup system we thought we had set up was not working right, so we were looking at possibly losing all our photos, music, etc. But Bud was able to recover all except a few files. He then installed a new hard drive, brought the computer back to our house, re-set it up, installed a free program to automatically back up our files onto our external hard drive, and installed an updated virus protection system--all for I think $325 for the labor and hard drive plus $40 for delivering the computer. I was reminded to write this review because just now, almost a year later, our computer was running slowly, and I wrote to Landmark again. Bud had us do something where we logged on to his website and downloaded something so he could look at our computer from afar as though he were here. (As you can see I am not super computer literate.) He confirmed that we had a reasonable amount of free disk space and did not have any viruses, then deleted something unnecessary that had been running automatically when the computer started up. Now the computer is running much faster. This took him about 20 minutes and didn't charge us anything--he said he would only charge us if he had to do something more time-consuming. All this is to say, I heartily recommend Landmark Computer!

He went to his supplier and got one there. No extra charge. All in all, friendly service that goes the extra mile.

First, apparently, he DELETED ALL OF THE PHOTOS I HAD ON THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. I hired him fix a thumb drive gone bad; lots of travel photos that I wanted to keep. I gave him an external hard drive to put recovered photos on. I already had a slew of travel photos on the external drive as well. Aside from accidentally charging more for the deposit and more for the remainder of the payment, I just realized that he deleted ALL of the photos I already had stored on my external drive. I had travel photos from Iceland, Greenland, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Italy, Greece, Colombia, Egypt, and Jordan. Gone. All gone. I'm trying to recover these files now on my own. Something I wish I did the first time. Why in the world would you just delete 10 folders holding thousands of photos? As far as I'm concerned, dude just walked into my house and set fire to all my photo albums. Worse, I have no "negatives" from which I can reprint them. Gone forever. Thanks a lot.

Disappointing that I have to walk the owner through his own website huh? For the record, that is where I found my quote from your website that you are now claiming does not exist. So for the record, I posted an annotated screen shot of your webpage so there is no more confusion about this issue. And it is indeed false advertising. For the record, I was prevented from using your technical services because you or your employee rudely hung up on me. However, I did experience your terrible CUSTOMER SERVICE and saw your true colors. Do you even have any employees or was it you who hung up on me? For the record, nine years in business does not correlate to good service. It means a lot of one-time customers keeping you afloat. Most of those 9 years were also before Yelp took off and became popular thereby exposing your true colors.
