I am very, very irked by Brooklyn Banya. We traveled approximately two hours to get to BK Banya…read morebecause it's one of the few places that allow those under 18 into the baths. We called ahead and spoke with a gentleman who assured us (1) they were open on Yom Kippur; and (2) they were happy to accommodate my children and friends of mixed genders. When we arrived, the extremely unpleasant older woman at the front desk told us that Thursdays were for men only and turned us away very, very rudely -- despite the fact that the website says that men's only hours begin at 6 p.m.!! We were there around noon.) From the website (https://www.brooklynbanya.com/m): Men only hours: Tuesday 11am-11pm $60pp Thursday 6pm- 1am $60pp From what we could see and smell from the lobby, the place was dark, threadbare, and dingy, with a funky odor of mold mixed with perspiration and other unpleasant, unidentifiable things on top. So perhaps it was a cloud with a silver lining to be turned away. TLDR: - Awful communication. Info posted online is not honored or accurate. Info given verbally is not honored or accurate. - The space -- what we saw of it -- seemed dingy and dirty. - Staff are uninformed and extremely rude.

I visited World Spa during my trip back to Brooklyn over Memorial Day weekend to celebrate my…read moresister's 47th birthday. It was my first time, and overall, it was a fantastic experience! There were a few minor hiccups that were completely out of the spa's control. Apparently, the entire system went down on Memorial Day. Honestly, I thought they might close for the day, but instead they stayed open and made the best of a difficult situation. They went old school--writing everything down on paper! Despite the inconvenience, the staff remained professional, organized, and did their best to keep everything running smoothly. I really appreciated the effort. We purchased the VIP Experience (Monday-Thursday, entrance between 12-1 p.m.) for $138, and it was absolutely worth it. It included unlimited access to all of the spa amenities for the entire day, plus access to an exclusive private lounge on the top floor. We could order food and drinks, and the staff delivered everything directly to us in the lounge. I believe there are 14 different spa experiences, and we made it our mission to try every single one--multiple times! We spent the entire day there and enjoyed every inch of the facility. My favorite experiences were: The Grand Banya The Cold Plunge The Snow Room The Himalayan Salt Room And my absolute favorite--the Event Sauna Ritual The Event Sauna Ritual was incredible. It's a 30-minute aromatherapy experience that promotes circulation and relaxation using hand-tied oak leaf bundles and snowballs infused with essential oils. This group experience was very invigorating and therapeutic you leave the room feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. It was honestly one of the highlights of the day. According to their website, the herbal steam rituals are offered: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 1 PM, 3 PM, 5 PM Friday: 6 PM Saturday: 4 PM (Grand Banya), 6 PM (Event Sauna) Sunday: 1 PM, 3 PM, 5 PM Now, let's talk about the food--because it was surprisingly delicious! Since we spent the entire day there, we had both breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, I only took photos of my breakfast and then my phone went back into my robe. I was there to technically relax not review. For breakfast, I ordered the Countryside Breakfast Plate, which came with fried sausages, eggs, crispy home fries, toast and a fresh salad of arugula, tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers. They even brought out an assortment of jams upon request, which was a nice touch. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. Because the system was down, they were gracious enough to give us our breakfast for free. By the end of the day, the system was up and running. For dinner, we shared the Korean-Style Crispy Fried Chicken Wings with the sweet chili sauce on the side. They were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. We also ordered a side of fries. For my entrée, I had the Miso Salmon. It normally comes with asparagus and quinoa, but I substituted the quinoa for mashed potatoes. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the entire dish was delicious. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would absolutely return the next time I'm back in Brooklyn. Between the relaxing spa amenities, the excellent food, the attentive staff, and the way they handled an unexpected technical issue, World Spa made for a memorable day. If you're looking to spend an entire day relaxing and recharging, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Great amenities, but atrocious customer service and billing management…read more I booked an 80-minute couples CBD aromatherapy massage with hot stones for my sister and me over Memorial Day weekend. This place came highly recommended, but when we showed up, their systems were completely down. No one called us beforehand because they had no access to their system. To their credit, the front desk team was kind and allowed us free access to the spa facilities for two hours to check out the saunas, steam room, and snow room. We made the best of it and had a good time bopping around. However, their customer service recovery is nonexistent. It has been over a week since that visit and they are still holding onto my $700. Every time I call, I am routed to a call center agent who doesn't understand the situation and has no power to help me. Two emails to their billing center have gone completely unanswered. Keeping a customer's money for services you couldn't render due to your own tech failure is unacceptable. Since nobody there seems to know how to run the business or process a refund manually, I am moving forward with a bank dispute to reclaim my money. If you go here, pray their system doesn't crash, because you will never see your money again. UPDATE: Unbelievable. After blasting them on here, a manager named Claudia called me. But instead of taking responsibility, she tried to gaslit me by claiming I was being "combative" because I am frustrated. Let's get the facts straight: your business took my $700, failed to provide the services, ghosted me for a week, and now I'm the combative one for wanting my money back? She literally called me to play reindeer games, asking me to explain "what happened when I arrived." Girl, get out of here with that. You work there, you know your own systems were down. It is completely crazy to interrogate a customer about a tech failure your own business suffered. When I refused to let her talk over me or railroad the call, she tried to act like she was the one refusing to have a "combative conversation." It's pathetic corporate deflection. She finally said she would process the refund today because I wouldn't back down, but dealing with this level of unprofessionalism just to get a refund for services never rendered is ridiculous. Management here is trash.

This is a place for healing, where they take time to learn your body. You're never pushed into painful unnecessary massage techniques too early. Every massage was so thoughtfully done and catered to my current state, I can recommend their massage specialists enough! When looking for post-op after care you want it to feel like home, and this is exactly what Magic Post op was for me! Did I also mention their healing herbal tea is amazing? The recommendations for the supplies I would need such as rajas, foams and boards were spot on. The ones I originally got were not the best but based of their recommendations I as able to get the exact level of compression I needed. They also referred me to alteration specialists to adjust my faja as my size changed during the recovery. The attention to detail, the quality of the oils and just the overall atmosphere was such a healing experience. I think this might be the best post-op care in NYC and I'm grateful for everybody on their expert wellness team who worked with me.
