I love this place! Both the Chinese and the pizza. We ordered their Chinese for the last couple of years and have only had a few complaints (a little to much breading on sweet and sour chicken, things like that). We recently ordered the pizza, we were a little worried since it is a Chinese place, but we immediately regretted not ordering pizza from them before. They load the pizza with toppings and the crust is awesome. The family who owns this place are always friendly and even deliver after 5 PM. We love this place. read more

I don't normally make reviews but I moved from the east coast a year ago and since then have been having a hard time finding Chinese food that's similar to what we have back east . Every spot I have tried out here has sucked in all honesty but this one was the closest to back home we have found . Even the ambience is like those back home . The service was great and the place was pretty clean. Price wise way more affordable than those around since they have combination plates . I've came back twice in a week . First time had the salt and pepper shrimp which was amazing and yesterday shrimp fried rice with chicken wings. This place is not good to say the least. The szechuan chicken is like no other Chinese food I've ever had. It's really... I'm not sure how to describe it but it's not good. We've had this place twice now because it's close and this will be the last time for me. It's not good. They really go overboard with the carrots and I've never had any Chinese food in actual China with carrots. This place is... not good. I'm going to dump my main dish in the trash again. Oh where to begin... Firstly, the girl who answered the phone was rude. She was clearly annoyed about having to answer the phone. Having a bad day? Ok, been there. The huffed and sighed after every item I asked for and even argued with me when I asked for one of the dishes to be mildly spicy and not very spicy - like the menu said, "spice level to your taste." The phone conversation ended with her asking if that was everything and then hangin I'm up on me when I said that it was. The young guy behind the counter was very nice when I arrived to pick it up. This was the only good thing I have to say about dragon Express. The food was, in summary, inedible and gross. A few pieces went to the dogs and the rest in the trash. The sesame chicken was somehow dry and soggy at the same time with several grisly chunks of chicken The kung pao had a fish flavor to the sticky sitting-in-bucket-at-room-temperature gravy-like sauce that seemed old. Like it seems like it was make us sick the next day gross. The fried rice... hmm, well here's the best way for me to describe it: It seemed like they tried to make yellow rice at some point several days before only they overcooked it so it was slightly mushy. Then they tried to save it by pan frying it - the way you would make fried rice I guess. When that didn't work they decided to put it in the fridge for a few days and mull over whether or not they should throw it away. Then they nuked it right before I got there to get my order. We also got the pu pu platter for some reason... should I even bother to keep going? Burnt shrimp toast. Chewy spare ribs. Old tasting egg rolls. Nice place to order from if you are in the neighborhood and crave some comfort food for takeout. The service was very polite and lightning fast. The portions are great and reasonably priced. The crab rangoon was tasty and fried to crisp perfection. The wonton soup had a comfortably salty broth and came with a generous amount of crispy strips. The only complaint I had was that the wonton dumpling had a strange "off" flavor which wasn't very appetizing. Everything else was wonderful. The General Tso's chicken was delicious. It had that sweet tangy sauce with a mild spice. The orange beef was also pretty good. The broccoli sides were amazingly fresh. We had both the combination pork and beef fried rice dishes which yielded a decent result. They contained a fair amount of ingredients. I have lived about 2 miles away from Dragon Express for the past 6 years. They have no delivery competitors out here and take full advantage of it. They don't really have seating, so people mainly pick up or attempt to order delivery. Their pizza tastes like they buy it prepackaged and defrost it upon receiving your order. Same goes for their appetizers. Their Chinese food is edible, but I have had much better. My biggest complaint with this place is that the availability of delivery is very inconsistent. About 80% of the time I call, I am told that there is no delivery available. This annoys me for 2 reasons: (1) if you advertise that you deliver you should actually deliver, and (2) if I felt like going out to eat, I would have, and it would not have been here. As a consequence, we try not to order from here unless we are starving and are too tired to cook or go out. It, therefore, makes it extra annoying when I am told "sorry, no drivers today." On the rare occasion that there is a driver, they are very courteous. I have to give them that. read more

Given the location, this might be appropriate for the area as it's an outlying area of Austin that is primarily Hispanic. Taste is bland. This is one of my favorite Chinese take out and pizza place, the owners are always so friendly and charismatic, never in a bad mood and service is fast. Their pizza is really good! The cheese is really milky and pizza dough is amazing as well however the pizza sauce needs just a little more flavoring since that's what gives pizza its taste but other than that it's awesome also their Chinese food is super good!!! Thank god for these folks. Living out here, it's difficult when you don't feel like cooking or have anything. They have saved me many times from starvation. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing food, but it's reliable. I know if I get schezuan tofu and rangoons, I will enjoy it every time. They used to make really great donuts till some Turd started making some busted ol excuse for donuts across the street (rude). I wish they still made those dang donuts. read more
