I politely asked them to give me one minute to get out of the pool, cover myself, and grab the homeowner (my 75-year-old aunt). Instead of waiting even 60 seconds, they grabbed their gear and stormed off without a word. The real nightmare started when we called the service number. The woman answering the phone -- who I later found out is the wife of one of the guys -- is the most unprofessional, aggressive person I've ever dealt with in any service industry. She started yelling, swearing, and flat-out contradicting the info we were told earlier. At one point, she said she didn't need to deal with us and hung up. This is not a professional business -- it's an unorganized, disrespectful, and borderline abusive operation. No repairs, no communication, and no accountability. I'm now stuck with a broken heater and less money in my pocket. This is not a real business -- it's a joke. Zero professionalism, zero respect, and zero work done. They took our money and left us with a broken heater and a screaming match. Steer far, far away. They're completely unhinged - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!! They should receive less than zero stars!

This was the second time I've used Monk's for painting projects at my home in Morris Plains, and…read moreonce again I was extremely happy with the results. The first project, several years ago, involved painting multiple interior rooms and crown molding. Most recently, I hired them to paint three new structural porch columns and my front door. While that may sound like a straightforward job, it really wasn't. Black structural columns are not something you see every day, so preparation, product selection, and attention to detail were critical to getting the look I wanted and ensuring the finish would hold up to the elements. Bob came out to provide the estimate. He was professional, easy to work with, and, most importantly, took the time to listen to what I was trying to achieve and the concerns I had about the project. He was also able to get the work scheduled within the same week. I worked closely with Ron, who I believe was the lead painter on the job. He was incredibly knowledgeable and detail-oriented. I supplied the INSL-X primer recommended for fiberglass columns and discussed paint options with him. He agreed with the approach and helped ensure the project was done the right way rather than just the fastest way. The work took two full days and exceeded my expectations. The crew took great care to protect my brand-new porch, covering the decking and railings thoroughly so there was no risk of paint getting where it didn't belong. What really stood out was the follow-up. Both Bob and Ron checked in independently after the work was completed to make sure I was satisfied. They also made it clear that if any issues came up, they would come back and make it right. The pricing was fair, the workmanship was excellent, and the customer service was outstanding from start to finish. It's refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in doing quality work and standing behind it. I plan to use Monk's again next year for additional interior painting projects and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I had a water damage on my house due to a burst heater pipe inside the wall during winter of this…read moreyear which affected the wall from the first floor up to the 2nd floor into the ceiling, I called MDR Home Improvement and Michael was the one that responded to my phone call and was available to assess the situation immediately compared to the other companies that i called that didn't even called me back or I have to wait days or more than a week for an assessment. When he came to the house, he was able to personally check the situation right away that afternoon and has given us his input, in which he was really very helpful to our situation. Since the damage affected the second floor as well as the first floor, We also decided to do the renovations for the 2nd floor bathroom/living room as well as the entire kitchen on the first floor including 1st floor main living room space. The process from getting rid of the damaged areas, demolition and to the renovation were consistent, efficient and done with quality work in mind. His staff/workers were very respectful, friendly and really knowledgeable on their craft. Special mention to Steve, the project manager! And to Matt and Jason , plus the painter and the tiler that are so meticulous with their work! And the good thing to point out is that Michael will work with your budget, your design ideas and input and will also give you suggestions/pros/cons that will help you decide on design plan, materials and products to be used on your project. The ability to have that kind of communication between you and the contractor is important to make the project a success. It was definitely a big project on the house but it's all worth it. The house looks much spacious, clean and modern. I would definitely 100 percent recommend this company.

This company is very difficult to get a hold of. They do not return calls. Once you do get a hold…read moreof them, you will have to call them back for a response to your issues. I was referred to this company last year 2024 for a liner install. After the installation I discovered lumps in the bottom of my pool. There was also something sharp sticking out from the bottom of the pool. When they installed the liner they did not apply sand. My pool is over 15 years old. They dug around my pool, made a mess of the dirt and the rocks around my pool and said I had to put it all back and clean it up. I called the company with my complaints about the lumps and the object sticking up from the liner. After some time someone came out to inspect. They took care of the object in the pool. I asked about the lumps in the pool and was told it was the straps, and they would let the office know. I called the office and was told what would have to be done and advised to wait till before closing the pool. I was told it would take at least two days to drain my pool. I explained to Maria that I didn't have what was needed to drain my pool and she said that someone would drop off a stronger pump to drain my pool. NEVER HAPPENED! I called several times after, left messages, and NOTHING! I closed my pool! Opened it this year 2025 and still no results. My pool was still not retaining water. I called and someone finally once again came out and claimed I didn't have the sand filter cap on tight. Pool still was draining water after that. I called the pool company that referred me and was told I had to deal with NJJ. Later the company that referred me to NJJ Pools, after continuing to complain, told me that I need to detect if there was any leaks. And referred me to another company. At that point I didn't feel like I should have spent anymore money. I had no issues with leaks or lumps in my pool before NJJ Pools worked on my pool. I called the owner of the company who referred me to NJJ Pools and explained the entire situation and he did his due diligence to help me. The results were there were no holes in the liner. The discovery was that the water was draining from the skimmer and return. I went to another company to have a new one installed and was told nothing was wrong with the old skimmer and return valve. There were no cracks or holes in the old skimmer or return valve. There was no evidence of water drainage outside of my pool. So the water had to be draining between the wall and liner. I called NJJ and was told the owner stated that my skimmer and return valve issues had nothing to do with the liner and no one was coming out to fix it. Which is not true they had to reattach the skimmer and return valve to the liner after they installed it. I then asked about the lumps in the bottom of my pool and was told, again no one was coming to fix it. I would not recommend this company to anyone, under any circumstances.
