I interviewed two contractors to renovate an aging backyard wood deck. All of the screws had rusted and were broken and many of the decking boards had split. One contractor gave me an off-the-cuff estimate in a few minutes. In contrast, Peter Ziec of Decks by Ziec told me that the deck would have to be replaced but the existing footings and beams could be reused with additional ones for stability. On the spot, Peter measured our existing deck and meticulously drew a scale drawing of the deck that Decks by Ziec would build. He gave us a price based on demolishing the existing deck, carting away the old materials, adding additional footings and beams, and installing a beautiful design based on Fiberon composite decking lumber and Trex aluminum posts and railings that we selected from samples in his truck. Peter's brother Andrew, with two assistants, did all the construction in the middle of winter. They even had to shovel snow away from the work area. Snow and cold weather did not bother them. Andrew's measurements and work were as meticulous as Peter's design. The bottom line: We could not be happier with the terrific work that Decks by Ziec did for us. I highly recommend Decks by Ziec for any deck construction. Their web site has lots and lots of pictures of past projects. read more

We are so happy that after doing extensive research online and in-person meetings with various companies, we selected Decks by Ziec for our deck remodel project. Our first meeting was with Andrew and we appreciated how much time he spent talking with us about our ideas and also offering suggestions. We had an idea of what we wanted and needed to incorporate, but greatly appreciated his input and expertise. They were quick to give us a quote and always very responsive in returning calls and communicating with us. Thomas and Brian started on our deck and showed up as expected each day. They were great! There were a few times we were not sure how something would look or not sure if we were making the right choice so Thomas would stop to walk me through it or give me input. The deck was finished in a timely manner and exceeded all of our expectations. We incorporated a hot tub and decorative privacy wall and really love how it all turned out. In the past (on other projects) we often experienced delays or would never hear back from contractors, but this was not the case with Decks by Ziec. Their workmanship and customer service is amazing and we will continue to highly recommend them to anyone looking at deck project. read more

I recently had the pleasure of hiring Decks By Ziec to repair and install stairs on a deck for my home. From start to finish, their service was prompt and professional. It wasn't a brand new installation, so the project was more challenging and required more creativity in order to meet my expectations. They accepted the challenge, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. Brian and his team were incredibly efficient, completing the job in a timely manner without sacrificing quality. They demonstrated a keen attention to detail and craftsmanship that truly exceeded my expectations. Not only did they complete the project on schedule, but the end result was absolutely fantastic. The deck work is not only sturdy and well-constructed but also beautifully designed. It has quickly become one of my favorite spaces in my home. Overall, I would highly recommend Decks By Ziec to anyone in need of deck installation or repair services. Their excellent job, professionalism, and efficiency truly set them apart, and I am grateful for the outstanding work they did on my project. read more

I highly recommend decks by Ziec. I needed to replace several sets of rotted stairs to my deck. Peter arrived promptly for our appointment, provided a quote on the spot and did not try to upsell me into work I did not need. While there are always surprises when working on a 100 year old house like mine, Peter and his crew worked hard to limit any cost growth to me and we agreed on all changes before they did the work. They were able to start only a few days after we gave our deposit and once they started they worked every day until they were done even when the work took a few extra days beyond what they planned; no leaving us half-finished for days on end so they could juggle other jobs. As for their work, it was impressive. Where other deck builders quoted 4X4 posts, they used 6x6s. Where others might have used two stringers for a staircase, they added a third down the middle. When we found a tight corner which had to be redone, they accommodated. Their work is incredibly solid and neatly finished and should last for decades. read more

Glad I chose Decks by Ziec after researching so many different deck contractors. My experience from start to finish was exceptional. They listen to your Ideas and they sketch to show you how your backyard would look like. They also educate you with the different type of materials and colors that would look to perfection. They show up as promised and keep you updated by a phone call or text. The team, Thomas and his helper, worked extremely very hard under the most difficult heat wave weather conditions. They did not stopped and kept working. Thomas is an expert in building your deck. The experience and knowledge is amazing. You will not be disappointed when the project is complete. Ratings are usually from 1 to 5 stars. Or, from 1 to 10. I give them 100 stars. Thank you for the great experience and making my backyard look like a resort. read more

My wife and I always wanted a deck in our backyard. We decided to hire Decks by Ziec to design it and build it. It was a great choice. From the time Peter and Thomas came over to measure the property, design the layout, and throughout the construction of the deck, their professionalism, organization and knowledge stood out. All I can say is absolutely amazing. The work and craftsmanship performed by Decks by Ziec is unmatched. I couldn't be happier with my new deck and hot tub enclosure built by the team. As you can read from the other reviews, their design and implementation are top notch so I thought I would comment on a few points that I found outstanding and weren't mentioned previously. 1. You know the work is of excellent quality when even the town inspector is impressed and comments on how great it looks. 2. Clean up. When the team was done, my property looked exactly is it did when they started except there was a gorgeous deck left behind. No mess, no garbage, nothing to clean up. They took care of everything. 3. The hard work and dedication even during a brutally hot august. Great job guys, you have a fan and customer for life. read more

Our deck was at least 25 years old and falling apart. It was an eyesore and dragging down the value of our home. Decks By Ziec to the rescue! We did get several estimates but based on our meeting with Peter (and later Andrew) we were sure we had chosen the correct contractor to make this house our dream home again! The deck is beautiful beyond words. To be clear, when we moved in 28 years ago the original deck was a nice addition, but now, the deck is so much more than an afterthought. In fact, it could be the centerpiece of the home. You can bet that in the warm part of the year it's not even close! You can stop looking for deck builders once you have found Decks By Ziec! read more

Decks by Ziec are the BEST.... My experience with brothers Peter and Andrew has been 100% positive. They are both true professionals and craftsman, and their attention to detail is amazing. They return phone calls, emails and texts in a timely fashion --- this is rare in today's world. Peter is passionate about his job and cares about the customer. At the end of the day, he wants you happy. Peter and his team will make sure you are thrilled with the end result. Bottom Line === if you are looking to build a new deck or in need of repairs, you would be foolish not to call Decks by Ziec. Call Peter on his cell at 908-275-7075 for ideas and to get an estimate. You can thank me later. read more

Peter and his team just rebuilt our front steps. From the first time Peter came to look at the job and give us an estimate, he was professional and courteous. He had barely shaken hands with my wife and I and he was already giving suggestions to improve our stairs. Something none of the other contractors we spoke with had done. He had plenty of pictures from previous jobs and references. We were quickly able to agree upon a fair price and timeframe for completion of the job. Our new steps are beautiful and we are already dreaming of the next project that we will have for Peter and his team. Don't even waste your time talking to other contractors. read more

We are so pleased with our new deck from Decks by Ziec. When we first had Peter to our home to discuss the project, we had some ideas of what we wanted to do. The team was there every day getting the job done. Any issues or concerns we had during the project were quickly addressed to our satisfaction. Decks by Ziec are true pros! Started off with a very detailed and competitive estimate. Very open to using the materials I was interested in and stated involved while I pursued a variance request with the town which was a lengthy process. They showed up to work on the deck as promised and were complete within the time frame given. The only thing which stopped them from working was the inspection process which was in my town's control. The deck itself turned out beautiful. Exactly the design I had requested. Very impressed with the quality of their work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to family and friends. read more

From the time Peter and Thomas came over to measure my property for the precision drawing plan, they are very knowledgeable and made the whole process very easy and stress free. Thomas is kind, honest, reliable and pleasure to deal with. His team is professional and their craftsmanship cannot be beat. We have never worked with a contractor who cared about the finished product as much as we do. Their customer care and attention to detail were excellent. Look no further! Peter from Decks by Ziec is one of the best deck builders in New Jersey. They do beautiful work and I would definitely recommend them. read more

I called Ziec to help repair a deck that my previous contractor refused to come back and repair. Our steps started to sag only two months after the deck was finished. He told me the steps were level when he left so he's not coming back. That's when I called Ziec, he sent over a gentleman by the name of Marcin, who was extremely professional and helpful. He took on the challenge of repairing my deck steps by completely and redoing them. His craftsmanship is amazing and second to none. I'm so pleased with the work that he's done. I wish I would have hired him to build the whole deck from the start. read more

We absolutely love the deck built by Andrew and Thomas. Thorough professional work by Ziec. They are very responsive when your needs and respond back with any queries almost immediately!! They were in and our in 2 weeks with our entire deck incl. lights and customized trims. We did reach out to a couple of other deck builders, but no one could come even close to their work product and quality of service. Their prices are competitive as well. Would very highly recommend them for your deck needs. Andrew and Thomas, thanks very much for giving a wonderful deck to enjoy our summers for years to come. read more
