They lied more than once. They stole money. They failed to give proper installation. They damaged my home. They caused more damage to our lives. We paid more than $14,000 for a new hvac and even signed up for their monthly membership. All of this was to make sure if something happened we would be taken care of, or so we were told. They did not properly level the new hvac. The system did not trip to prevent an overflow. It dumped water and damaged our home. They even tried to get us to pay for coming out to fix the mistake. They have refused to pay for anything and will not talk to our insurance. Now, becasue they will not admit their fault and make amends, we could lose our home insurance or have to pay more. Came out to get an estimate on rewiring a connection from the some outdoor equipment equipment to an indoor control. Expensive estimate. Then he said I should consider them installing a house surge protector for $900. Told them I had one installed a few months ago for $250. They hadn't even checked. Got worse. They then said that the sleeve for the power line had slipped away from my meter box after they actually checked to see if the surge protector was there and working and that they could repair the sleeve for $1,100. He knew the price because he had just done that job for someone else. I asked them wasn't that something Oncor would do? The tech said that he was sure that Oncor wouldn't do it. I didn't have them do any of the work because it seemed suspicious. I called Oncor that afternoon. They came out the next morning and repaired the sleeve for free. Called the office to talk to them about this. The manager never called back. Clearly I would not use or recommend this business to anyone. read more

This company did an incredibly great job trenching, laying under ground conduit, installing inside conduit / plugs/ switches, installing breaker panels, etc to my barn. They did this job turn key connecting to a new BEC power line out in Sharp Texas. James kept me posted on the progress of the project and the company as a whole cleaned up - never knew they had done the work there! I would highly recommend them especially on the larger projects! Called Dr. Watts at approximately 10pm Tuesday regarding our air conditioner, leaving a message. Received a call back the same evening, scheduled a tech for Wednesday morning. Tech arrived as promised and repaired the issue. 5 star customer service. The repair involved replacing the dual run capacitor. Total bill for the service was in excess of $600, with $440 of that being for the capacitor. Reasonable price for the labor, excessive price for the part. The capacitor installed has a Global P/N (part number) USA2237. Searching for this on Amazon, a capacitor with the same global part number is available on Amazon for less than $50, sold by Dayton Industries out of Dayton, Texas. Looking on the internet the expected cost (parts and labor) to replace the capacitor should be much less. From bob villa.com in an article published June 29, 2022, "Replacing an AC capacitor has an average price tag of $170. But a variety of factors can push the price to as high as $300 or as low as $60. These factors include the unit type, cost of labor, and even geographic location. Capacitors are fairly affordable, averaging between $9 and $45. " I cannot recommend using Dr. Watts due to the excessive cost of the part. If you need it fixed now and cost is not an issue, use Dr. Watts. The customer service really is 5 star. read more

Just replaced a 20-amp arc fault circuit braker that this company installed, they never gave me an itemize receipt telling me what was installed. After contacting the manufacturer, they told me that this brakers have lifetime warranty and they mailed me a new one. I was charged $9,000.00 for the lousy work they performed. Our house is an old house, and it was not required for arc fault brakers to be installed, nevertheless i was ripped off. I reported them to the BBB and the owner reply was like telling me that it was my problem. I recommend that people stay away from this company. Terrible, terrible, terrible! A tech named Brandon charged me $287.00 for a misdiagnosis for my A/C unit. He said that my Thermal expansion valve up in my attic needed to be replaced, (5 to 8 hrs. of labor). He said a comfort adviser would show up the next day to give me options. The adviser Jerl showed up and said the repair cost would be $1818.00. He then offered to sell me a new complete system from anywhere between $12546.00 to $25455.00. At this point we had no airconditioning for 3 days with a inside the house temperature of 91 degrees. The next day I got another A/C company (All rite air) to check out my system and within the first couple of minutes they said I was low on freon (3 lbs). They promptly filled it and Ive been in heaven for the last 7 days! I have my thermostat set at 78 degrees and my A/C has been working like it should. I feel that I have been cheated out of $287.00 for a wrong diagnosis. I even called the company to voice my frustration and talked to a lady but I havent heard back from them. read more

Beware when setting up an appointment with Dr. Watts They use a slick technique called a money grab, you think your getting a service call as most any reputable company will do but they bill you to simply drive to your location, calling it a "dispatch fee" The do not perform any diagnostics, do not look at and determine anything about your issue, they will however tell you that you owe $65.00! Giving you absolutely zero value for your dollars. Then they say they can check out your issue for more money! My family and I own several differant service based companies over the last 35 years and when we are sent to a location, we have a fee but, we at least listen to the complaint, do simple diagnostics and end with an answer and description of the solution, giving our valuable customers some value for their dollars. Any worthwhile service will do this. I cant speak to the work Dr. Watts performs, but when the technician uses the time to tell you how great he is, all you can this is scam. I complained to the company in a direct email and got a call back from a person who tried to compare there work to a doctor and tryed to convince me how good it is that they charge $65.00 to do nothing. I found another electrician, 75.00 service call, found the fault within 15 min And did not charge more that the service call. Lesson learned, shop arround first. read more

Stay very far away from these guys. No matter what your issue is, the electrician that shows up will try and upsell you. Faulty outlet? Probably time to upgrade your entire electrical box. Coolant out on the AC unit? Time to buy a new one one. They never once left my house without giving me a quote for something that would cost thousands of dollars - it was the only way to get them out of the house. I finally did end up buying a new AC system from them, and during the installation they put a foot through my ceiling drywall and had the audacity to suggest knocking $150 off the price in compensation. Um... no? You're going to fix the hole in my ceiling. It wasn't until after repeated emails and phone calls that they finally relented and sent someone to patch the hole in the drywall. For that AC system we used their "preferred lender" to get a deal on the price, and it turns out it's a predatory lender (GreenSky) with outrageous fees. A $9k system would have cost me $16k at the end of the finance term - and we have outstanding credit. Took out another loan to pay that one off and not deal with those fees, but I never should have made that agreement in the first place. Yes - that's on me for not reading the fine print, but again they use extremely aggressive sales tactics. Stay far away from these guys, like I said. There are better electricians in town that are interesting in helping you rather than gouging every dollar they can from you. If you *do* go with these guys, do NOT use GreenSky. You're better off getting a signature loan from your bank. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have an electrical problem looked at, and after the safety inspection that consisted of walking through my house, I was given the price breakdown. Over $400 to run a diagnostic and repair one issue. The "lead technician" recommended a home restoration option that cost over $2,000, bc according to him there could be more than one issue to repair. I explained to him that my house is 4 years old, and that it did not need a service that extreme. The technician was condescending, and reaffirmed that he recommended his overpriced service. He even countered with a second tier option that was still over $1,000. I decided to decline DR Watts services, and still had to pay a $70 service call fee. Again, all $70 payed for was a technician walking through my house, and an offensive, overpriced estimate of services. read more

Then once that is done, they will consider looking at your actual repair job. Compare this company to the worse auto mechanic you've ever known. He was professional and he explained all he was doing. He did a great job and exceeded my expectations. On top of it all, his work is 100% guaranteed. just had Dr Watts come out and solve another electrical mystery in our older home. They had previously done work for us installing a new panel, and gave us GREAT service.They are responsive and polite. I called 24 hours ago and my problems are currently solved! The electrician was able to diagnose why my cable kept shorting out, which ultimately broke the breaker swItch. He also uncovered a seriously dangerous outdoor outlet ( unrelated to my initial problem) that could have caused a house fire! He replaced 3 outdoor outlets and made them safe. He installed a new breaker switch and he upgraded an indoor outlet to be more powerful and safer. This electrician was on time, polite, efficient and helpful. He was friendly with my two large, barking dogs also! Yes, the cost was a bit high, but I feel it was fair. They provided the service needed! The other electrician I originally called never even showed up for the appointment ! I'm really glad I used Dr Watts! I will continue to use them for all my electrical issues. read more

This place is incompetent. First they installed our AC incorrectly... over and over again... and when it kept messing up they told us they couldn't keep coming out for free to fix it. Interesting... Then just recently a guy came out to fix a breaker problem... he located it in 20 minutes and said there was a problem with our light fixture outside our garage and suggested we buy three new ones (so that they match) and then said he'd give us an estimate to install them. These are expensive outdoor garage lighting fixtures. I said, check the bulbs. He was hesitant and I said well if I'm just paying you for a diagnostic then let's s do a full diagnostic and check the bulbs. Guess what, it was just a bulb. I was told of a $69.00 dispatch fee and that the technician would perform a safety check. The technicians arrived got a little info about the repairs I wanted and then proceeded with the safety check. The lead technician then prepared an estimate for me. He recommended over $12,000.00 in upgrades to my service and quoted over $600. for the three repairs. I thanked them, called another electrical contractor, and had the work done for $141.00 in less than an hour by a real electrician. Will I call Dr. Watts again?? Probably like never. read more

Here is why I would not recommend this company. After seeing their advertisement on TV, we called them to have an estimate on some small work. We needed three outside lights on the house replaced, a ceiling fan replaced, and a light in the kitchen replaced. Pretty simple stuff. After they arrived they tried to up-sell us on $10,000 worth of electrical upgrades!! I kid you not. Not only that, they wanted $700 to do the light and fan replacements. We laughed, declined, and ate the estimate fee. We then called another local electrical company, which will remain nameless because I'm not here to promote them, and they did a free estimate over the phone. They have false advertising and at no time did anyone mention that there was a dispatch fee. It was not mentioned in their ad on TV or when I made the appointment. I dont know what changed about Dr Watts since the last time someone review them, but I hope they keep it that way because it's working. Dr Watts sent Jonathan out to our home for an estimate to replace our 20 year old HVAC unit. We knew it was dead and needed replacement. Jonathan was meticulous in examining our home and finding the best machine to serve our needs. He measured rooms, asked me questions about usage and preferences, etc. He recommended a Rheem system and after giving us plenty of informed options alongside 4 other local companies, we decided to go with Jonathan and Dr Watts. Honestly, I dont know if we would have gone with Dr Watts if it weren't for his competence because they certainly weren't the cheapest option, but he assured us we would be taken care of with their WAM plan and that all maintenance on the machine would keep it in good running condition for the life of the machine. He came out after picking up the system we ordered, and installed it with John. They were both extremely professional and courteous. They cleaned up any messes, kept us informed and updated. The sealed ductwork in the attic and made sure the unit was running in perfect condition before they left as promised. He told us to call anytime with any questions and made sure we had all the warranty paperwork and receipts. 10/10 glad to do business with Dr Watts because I'm currently freezing to death and under a blanket on the couch... just like we like it! read more

The General Manager called me concerning my complaint. I explained to him that I did not want him to adjust the amount he charged, just to change his companies policy and tell customers on their initial contact that unless the problem is immediately obvious and absolutely identifiable to the electrician who makes the service call, that there will be a $286.00 "diagnostic charge". He assured me that their current practice of only announcing the $69.00 service charge is acceptable practice within the electrical community. I called bc all the electricians were busy and I needed work on my security lights. the electrician was courteous, but it took him over 2 hours to find the problem, it was a truly stressful day. first he said I needed a new circuit in the panel box, then he said I needed 4 new light fixtures. My home is only 4 years old for pity's sake! I was a mess! I kept adding up all the cost of the things he kept telling me was needed. I found myself trouble shooting this that and the other. To make a looonnnggg story short. found out it was a loose wire in another light fixture. After that was connected all was fixed. the bill for this needless waste of time was a whopping $495, also, the whole time the work was being done the tech kept trying to sell me a WHAM plan. My issue had to do with one of my breakers. But before they wanted to fix the repairs I asked them to do, The sales pitch began, want to check my smoke detectors and other items in the house. Then they try to sale me a plan for 19.95 a month to check on heating and cooling and other electrical issues. I told them no, I just want my breaker box checked. So now they present me with the real cost just to do a diagnostic would be $169.00 evaluate what is wrong. No idea how much they would charge to fix it. They are lacking in business ethics. Only out they for the quick buck. Recently requested a quote to fix a bathroom switch that had been incorrectly wired. This was a single switch. The technician quoted $310.00 to rewire the switch. When asked why so high, he indicated the diagnosis required checking the lighting circuit back to the electric panel. He also said it was the "book rate" price. My problem with this type of price gouging is that it preys on the elderly and military families. Not the best business model to offer within our community. We paid the $69.00 service fee and chalked it up to experience. We are new in the Killeen area and looking for quality contractors to meet our home repair needs. We are able to find a reputable electrician in the Temple area. They looked at the wiring and smiled, he wiped out a screw driver and fixed the switch in seconds. Worked it hot. DO NOT use this company. They are very expensive, do not communicate well and did not do the work I needed correctly. I had to call another electrician to fix the issues after going back and forth with them. They would send out a technician who could not identify why a ceiling fan (they installed) kept tripping my new breaker box (they installed). Additionally, the new breaker box they installed kept tripping and turning off my air conditioner. After not getting anywhere with them, I called another electrician who was able to identify that Dr. Watts did not install the fan correctly and fixed the issue with the breaker box turning off my air conditioner. Was told on the phone that they would come out for $69, and then if work needed to be done that fee would be waived. After the electrician arrived I stated the issue, and he told me it would be $310--$241 plus the $69 fee--to diagnose the problem. The problem turned out that some wires had come loose and just needed capped. It took him 15 minutes of work, and he still charged me $310. One of his selling points was that they don't charge an hourly rate. Feels like fee roulette and I lost. Seems like a poor business model, which will not net them much repeat business. This company charged me $69 and were at my house less than 10 minutes. The service man told me it was going to cost me $310 to do a diagnostic test to determine what was wrong. I had to pay them $69 just to show up and they did NOTHING. If you have a minor repair such as a defective outlet plug DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE. When I arranged for them to come out, I asked if they were going to charge me the diagnostic fee and the woman that answered the phone told me no. I am editing this post on the following day. I got another company out to check the outlet that I felt had a defective gfi switch on it and that was indeed the problem.
