Very pleased with Ellis after having to replace my entire heat pump unit. I got quotes from two other companies in the area and went with Ellis. They were very quick to set up both appointments, with the installation of the new system the day after Bart was over to give me a quote. The guys who installed the system were right on time, very friendly and were done when they said they'd be. They even swept up the dust in my house after putting a seal around the vents. Bart came back the next day to check on the system and to set up surge protectors on the equipment. The price was well under my other quotes and I really appreciated the "paid in full discount" they offered. I'm going to sign up for an annual service from the company as well. It is a hefty expense, but I'm happy with Ellis Air and I'm glad I decided to give my business to them. read more

I contacted Ellis Heating and Air in Killeen, TX in July 2025 to service my unit. The technician added freon yet advised me there was a leak that he could not find, further advising that my unit was "cheap" and needed to be replaced. Feeling a bit insulted, we ignored his opinion and thanked the tech for his assistance. I called Ellis again September of 2025 because my unit again was not cooling. Ellis sent another technician, who advised again our unit was "cheap" and the compressor needed to be replaced, and we did not have a warranty. Ellis quoted $3200.00 to replace the compressor, or, $3600.00 for a new unit. We questioned this because we just purchased this home in 2022, so we researched our unit ourselves. We scanned the QR code on the back of our unit which immediately reflected a full warranty through 2031. I was able to contact the company who installed the unit. They immediately came out and confirmed the compressor had not failed but we had a clogged filter dryer. $150.00 later our "cheap" unit is working perfectly! CONSUMERS BEWARE!!! read more

We bought our newly built home back in 2021and immediately researched who we should use for our A/C & Heating maintenance. These guys have been great ever since! The 'Cool Club' is perfect for our needs and the gentlemen they've sent out have been thorough and punctual! This last week, I scheduled them to come out on Monday and totally spaced and forgot, they showed up, called, knocked, rang the doorbell and even though we were home, we didn't hear it! We used an annual Air Cool contract for the past 5 years to ensure our A/C was working properly. They would come twice per season to inspect it. We noticed no one had come to do a Spring checkup so I called. The clerk said our contract had expired and it would be like starting over again with an initiation fee of $79 to reinspect the unit. No one contacted us to renew, neither the tech at the last inspection offered a renewal. Luckily we found a National company who offered us a much better deal. Ellis Air doesn't seem to have a very good renewal policy and should be avoided! read more

Did not put everything back that was moved, left screws all over the walkway I had to ask them to pick up and had to ask them to put the vent back on that they left off and they were leaving. This is definitely a 5 star business and certainly not a three. Google Reviews places it a 4.7 with 338 reviews versus the paltry 19 here on Yelp. These guys will not cheat you or lie to you and will do quality work! I've used them multiple times now and it has always been a relatively cheap and easy fix. Certainly I got lucky with my repair needs, but the point is, they could have easily lied to me and made it seem like a bigger problem. read more

Let me start by saying this company did an excellent job with the install. A three man crew showed up at my house yesterday morning and removed my entire original system and replaced it with a brand new system from my attic and the unit outside my house. The three men worked diligently And were very thorough. Raphael (the main person on site I communicated with) contacted me first thing in the morning to let me know he was on his way. I asked a few questions to verify that we were all on the same page and found some discrepancies. There was definitely a miscommunication between Chris, the gentleman who I spoke to in person and took my order and whoever puts the tickets together. So, a few phone calls had to take place in order to make sure everyone was on the same page throughout the day. They started a little after 8 I believe and when I got home around 3 they were still hard at work. Once the job was done Raphael went over all the work with me and I was amazed at how clean the attic was. They did a great job at cleaning up the mess that was made as a result of the work completed. Prior to this install I went with another company, my go to for years, who failed miserably. They gave me advice that resulted in my house being very hot for over a month and failed to effectively communicate with me. I'll do a separate review for them later. They told me to run my fan nonstop and that would help reduce the humidity in my house. Well it went from 60-80 percent in a few days. Chris showed up and told to change that back to auto and my house went back to the third level of hell instead of the bottom. The staff probably could do a lot better job with communication which is why we're at four stars instead of five. Ellis Air is more expensive but they came through when my go to failed. We had a heat pump installed by Ellis 6 years ago and it worked fine. 5 plus years later the AC stopped working, come to find out it leaked all the freon out of the system. 16 lbs needed to be installed. I asked about the warranty, and t hey told me "unfortunately you did not register your AC with the manufacturer so no warranty" I was never told that I had to register the HVAC unit by the technician and on the invoice, all it says "upon registration".. nothing else. I had no idea I had to do it , there were no instructions to go out to the manufacturers website to register it. I've talked to other HVAC install companies and three of the ones I called make sure to register the HVAC so the customer gets the complete warranty. So needless to say, having new HVAC system installed by another company that does register the unit so that we are covered for ten years. read more

[Updated: clarification - this review was for work done on our family's property in Killeen] Ellis said "we don't care about Yelp reviews, we only care about our customers" in a response to my compliant email thread. Look at the series of events and see if they really care about their customer. Ellis used to have great customer service and was always thorough and properly communicated with their customer. USED TO.  This was when we got the unit FEW years ago.  As a matter of fact, we had referred them to family members and friends who also purchased units from them.  NO MORE! Recently, AC had issues. Experience was the worst customer service and lack of communication throughout the process. I will never use Ellis nor will I recommend them to anyone.  Series of events: - Tenant began having issues with AC (blowing hot air). Tenant called for service. - I contacted Ellis on May 25, 2018 to get an understanding of findings from the service visit.  Only time Ellis did something right was when their employee Jerry said he would call back (which he did) after speaking with the technician.  He informed me the tenant told them the unit was turned off for years which was incorrect.  The tenant recently moved in and prior to his move we had the unit on but at a higher temp since the house was shortly vacant.  Jerry then thoroughly explained the issue, what parts needed to be replaced, and informed me the part was under warranty and would place the order.  He said the office would call once the part came in.  No issues here. At this time, I had zero issues with Ellis. - I called on May 31st to follow-up (4 business days later) and the part was not in.   - Still no word from Ellis. Called June 5 (7 bus days later - keep in mind no AC for tenant) and front desk lady (very kind) did not know all the details. She called the manufacturer and called back.  She knew I was VERY unhappy with the service (delay) and I complained about the lack of communication from the office.  Surprisingly, the part would be sent that day due to an arrangement the lady made with the manufacturer to speed up our part.  Why could they not have done this on May 31 when I called? - The repair was finally done on June 6 (this is now 12 days of no AC since service call).  Tenant confirmed AC was repaired and cold air was blowing. I sent my first email that afternoon requesting Ellis to send the invoice via email so it would not get sent to the tenant. - No response or invoice. I called the office on June 8 but was unable to leave a voicemail so I sent ANOTHER email. They called back.  Notice the pattern?? Its the Customer who is constantly calling the office for updates or information.  Invoice was running behind and it would be sent out in the next couple of days. - On June 15 at 11:09am (7 bus days after AC fix and 5 bus days after speaking about the invoice), I sent ANOTHER email.  My concern was the invoice getting mailed to the tenant (trying not to piss that person off) or the concern of late fees since I may not see the bill in time (which Ellis corrected me in their email that they would never charge late fees without sending out the invoice) - On June 15 at 11:56am, I received 2 duplicate emails invoice attached and 2 duplicate emails invoice attached again at 12:58pm.  Again, it was because the CUSTOMER reached out asking about the invoice and status of everything.  - They also called twice trying to "resolve" things - but at this point...I was so annoyed with Ellis. What is there to resolve?  They already provided poor customer service, lack of communication, and the best part - the last email from their office manager calling me a liar.  Wow. The lie they claim is what the tenant told the service technician about the unit being off without speaking to the owner of the house which I explained to Jerry.  The tenant was not aware of who lived before him or how the unit was left on before he moved in.   These are series of events I had to deal with just to get an evaporator coil replaced and freeon added.  The total cost was $225 for labor.  I will send in the payment, my complaint was never on cost. Just look at the ridiculous series of headache ordeal for repair and bill! If you want to deal with headache, chasing them down for information, poor customer service, and delays...go for it. Went to apply here because a family friend had talked to Scott Ellis about needing help and that I should show up at 630 to talk about a job position. I have an education through CTC. I was greeted at the door with by a front desk lady and a worker there. When I inquired about meeting up with Mr. Ellis both the lady and the worker both said that I was and I quote "wearing the wrong skin" in reference to my tattoos. I felt very disrespected at the fact that I wasn't even given a chance to speak with this person and that I was being made fun of the entire time. My main issue is, the day that I was scheduled for them to come out they couldn't give me a timeframe on when they would be here. Had an appointment set up for first thing this morning. Last week, the gentleman said the tech would head this way as soon as they opened. it's 1.5 hours pass and when I call the Office im told it can be between 8-1pm. I had to cancel other things I needed done today to wait on someone. The job will take approximately 3-4 according to the gentleman I scheduled with. Very inconsiderate to tell someone one thing then change the times on the day of. I have little ones in school and my time to sit at home and wait for someone is limited. read more

I had an A/C installed and they did a great job. There was a few workers there and a couple of them were very nice and respectful, however there was one worker that was being extremely loud the entire time my house was being serviced. Towards the end, while one worker was installing my thermostat, another worker was loudly watching Facebook videos and kept exclaiming "Puta!", now I'm assuming he didnt know I understood what that meant, but I feel my home was disrespected. I did not appreciate the loud noises or the fact that I had people just watching videos in my house. I've never had any issues with any other of the staff. Fantastic job identifying the problem, even after I tried to do an amateur misdiagnosis. The technician, Lane, worked quickly and in a thoroughly professional manner. Ellis Air provided same day service, I called at 10 AM, work was complete by 4:30 PM. Lane provided a breakdown of the expenses, explaining that he had to charge the AC unit with Freon. Terrible. I have a 10 year warranty but they didn't do their job to register it. I'm sorry, we weren't doing that back then, that was someone else's job (but not ours for our own system that we installed). This unit has had a repair every year since installation in 2014 and I have just had to pay for it I guess because no one ever checked the warranty registration. They even came out the first year to do their own repairs under their own warranty and never checked that it wasn't registered. Don't count on them to do their own job (I'm sorry, that's someone else's job). read more

I highly recommend Ellis Air Systems for your air conditioning needs. They are prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. I called them to come check my daughter's AC when it quit cooling. I called in the afternoon and they were already booked up for the day, but Bart made it out the next morning and had everything up and running in less than an hour. He even checked the warranty status of her system and found that the part was still covered by the manufacturer warranty, so it saved her $75 on the defective part. While he was there he also did some routine maintenance and checked the coolant levels. read more

So this is the last thing I wanted to do but this company and the owner Scott left me no choice! Ellis air did all the ductwork in our new house, they were contracted by the builder. The vent in my son's room was smaller than all the other bedrooms and the A/C barely worked, so all summer we had to keep the upstairs thermostat at 69 degrees so his room would get comfortable, while my girls froze in their rooms! I called the builder and he told us to call Ellis and they will take care of it. Their tech finally came in October 2019 and he tried to adjust the digital settings and he did but now the whole upstairs is not cooling! The tech also said the duct in my son's room was small and that was an issue, they could put in a bigger duct and it would cost $150, I told him to take care of it since the builder said he was going to pay for the repairs. Well, he said to try it this way and then we can come back. Called back and made another appointment and they show up at my door on the wrong date to fix the vent and I was never told we had an appointment, we were told they will let us know. I called again and no apology or anything. Mario called November 20th to make an appointment for December 5th after 1 pm, waited all day and no show! Jery called December 9th to set up an appointment for December 13th at 3 pm and guess what no show again! I have missed 3 days of work waiting for this so-called great company to fix a damn vent, that they shorted while the house was being built. February 7th I called asking to speak with the owner Scott to give a chance to take care of my issues and give him the benefit of the doubt, he probably doesn't know all these issues are happening with his company. Patrick answered and he said he will give Scott the message, it's been 3 weeks today and no reply from Scott! Damn, how do you run your company, without customers you will not be in business for long! I would not recommend this company to anyone with the experience I've had with them. Not professional at all and they don't seem to give a crap about fixing their screw-ups! At this point, I don't even know if I can trust them to fix it. Update: after writing review, i was contacted by a rep thru email, apologizing and requesting proof of wrong doing, lucky me i had a few on hand, since i took a few pictures to know what wired connected to what. A few days after i reply to the email, a rep once again apologised for the mistake and offered a full refund, a few weeks later i got a check on the mail. I wasn't expecting that resolution from ellis, but i can say i am happy in how easy the process went.. i hope this is used as a tool to get better and for the techs to pay attention to details in the future. Called them because a/c wasn't cooling. They Called the next day in the am and said they call me back after another service call. So they call me back and Jason shows up, identifies the issue, (cable was cut by the weed-eater folks) and repaired it and installed PVC to prevent the problem from happening again. Great service! I had my yearly service a week ago. The tech took pictures of the cooling coils and they were horribly dirty and corroded after only 7 years of service. I scheduled an acid wash the following week. After cleaning it 3 times it's running great. It's worth the money to keep the system running for years to come. read more

I called Ellis to fix a problem with my parents' air conditioner. I arranged with a very nice woman in the office for the caregiver to pay the bill and to call me after the work was finished. She wrote the instructions down incorrectly, so Jerry, in the office, called me for the payment. I told Jerry that there had been a misunderstanding and that he'd need to call my brother for payment since the caregiver hadn't been presented with the bill. He actually argued with me about getting the payment that minute, rather than having my brother call him with the payment. He was so rude and inappropriately aggressive that one would think I'd had the bill for years instead of minutes. They may have done a great job, but I'll never call them again because of Jerry. read more

I have been doing business with Ellis Air Systems since 2008. I have never had any problems with their service, promptness, professionalism or trustworthiness until this year. I have scheduled two Fridays in a row to have someone service my AC unit. I requested this well in advance enough to be a first thing in the morning visit. Instead I was scheduled 8a-12p. I explained both times that I work 7a-7p and I was altering my work schedule and had to leave for work at 12:30p to work a 1pm to 1am shift. I was courteously told' "no problem, we can do it." Both times I had to leave for work and no technician showed. When I called to ensure someone was on their way around 9am I was told "the technician has your packet and is on his way." On my way to work I called them AGAIN to try to reschedule AGAIN....I was sent to a dispatcher who said, "I apologize for this - let me call you back in a few minutes." I never received a call. I am very disappointed in how this was (OR WAS NOT) handled. If the company is so overwhelmed that they cannot handle the requested time frame the customer is asking for then be honest about it and allow them that time to look elsewhere instead of not following through with your word. read more

The customer service in the office is the worst I have ever experienced! My parents called on Labor Day with no A/C, they had no problem with paying holiday pay!!! We kept getting calls says the guy was on his way, well they never showed. My parents went and got a hotel for the night. The very next morning they my parents called and the company said yes they were on the board and would be serviced today. At 3 pm after waiting all day for a call I called this company and asked where the technician was. I spoke with Chis who was of no help at all, she said they had no one in the Harker Heights area at this time running calls and was not able to tell me when they would have a tech in this area to running calls, I then asked where on the list they stood to be serviced again no help she could not even tell me if they would be serviced at all this week. I was floored by this answer. She did however promise me that no matter what my parents would receive a call from someone today. Well that never happened. I called on Wednesday to speak with a manager and who other than Chris answers the phone and I am meet with nothing but rude comments from her. I restated that yesterday when I got off the phone with her she said no matter what we would receive a call yesterday and she had nothing to say to that. I did speak with the Office Manager finally about how they we have been treated by this company and how we called someone else and now have A/C and that I would never allow Chris to speak to any customers because of her negative attitude. The owner has been family fiends forever, we are at a loss to the treatment we have received. I do not recommend using this company unless you can sit around all day for at least a week and wait for service. I feel they do not care that Senior Citizens were without air for two days while they sat and waited for a call that never came. read more

I called Ellis Air System, because my AC unit was not cooling the house. The tech came check the system and told me he put 2 pound of refrigerant, he told me lets see how long this last, if the problem continue its a leak the tech never told me before he put the refrigerant in the system, charge me for putting refrigerant in the system without my authorization, The Tech knew it was a leak. He didn't want to be bother because it was 5pm toward the end of the day or he was over work. I don't mind paying for my service call, but not for refrigerant I did not need because he was to lazy to check for the leak, and I have to pay to for refrigerant again. Call another company found the leak in 30 minutes order the part done. I need to be refunded for the refrigerant, he knew they were a leak just wanted a quick fix, it is illegal to put refrigerant when you know there its a leak, Ellis Air Systems Tech should be aware of this law, refrigerant does not just evaporate for no reason, Ellis Air Systems need to re train there Tech. read more

It is apparent that Ellis Air doesn't know their customers because the statements Fred E. Ellis made in his rebuttal to my review are untrue. They have never told me to get in touch with any install contractor for my A/C system due to a "Shotty", whatever that is, install. The fact is, nothing was wrong with the install. The issues with the air conditioners has been with the units themselves and not the install. A knowledgeable A/C repair company would know this which is why I will not use Ellis Air Systems again. Shooting from the hip to find a solution to an A/C problem is not the way to do business. As he stated is his rebuttal, they PATCHED up my system and kept PATCHING it up rather than fixing it while getting paid each time. They did not do any tests on my line set as I stated in my earlier review but yet they somehow determined that the line set was leaking when it was the evaporator the entire time. They did a leak test on the same evaporator twice but could not find the leak, and tried to charge me for replacing the line set that they never tested. After finally finding the leak and replacing evaporator, I have not had any problems with the unit, so the line set is NOT leaking Fred! I have never talked to you, so you apparently don't know who your customers are as well as not knowing what happen during the year that I used your company to PATCH my A/C system rather than fix it. Your analogy about the Ford and Chevy dealership is not a smart choice either because you are basically stating that you cannot fix different brands of A/C units, if this is true, this explains the issues I had with your company. There is no difference by the brand of evaporator or condenser in an A/C system as in the Ford and Chevy analogy, they both do their respective job, even if they are different brands. As far as you stating that I wanted something for nothing, all I got from your company was nothing but hip pocket diagnosis and over charging. The sad thing, is that you got paid for it. So if you think for one second that not having you working on my A/C system is somehow a bad thing, think twice buddy! I would rather pay more to a good company that will fix my system the first time than to pay less for PATCH work from Ellis Air Systems. To sum this up Fred, you should not lie and say that I refuse to pay you. I have all the paperwork showing that I paid you for all your PATCH work as well as the paperwork where you had to pay me back for over charging me over $300 dollars. Be honest in your statements because what you are showing is that anytime a customer has an issue with your company, you will lie about them to make your company look good and that does not work well. As far as your claim of over 50,000 customers, only 4 left reviews one being a 1 Star. So I'm not sure how happy the rest of them are with your PATCH work. read more
