I contacted Ellis Heating and Air in Killeen, TX in July 2025 to service my unit. The technician…read moreadded freon yet advised me there was a leak that he could not find, further advising that my unit was "cheap" and needed to be replaced. Feeling a bit insulted, we ignored his opinion and thanked the tech for his assistance. I called Ellis again September of 2025 because my unit again was not cooling. Ellis sent another technician, who advised again our unit was "cheap" and the compressor needed to be replaced, and we did not have a warranty. Ellis quoted $3200.00 to replace the compressor, or, $3600.00 for a new unit. We questioned this because we just purchased this home in 2022, so we researched our unit ourselves. We scanned the QR code on the back of our unit which immediately reflected a full warranty through 2031. I was able to contact the company who installed the unit. They immediately came out and confirmed the compressor had not failed but we had a clogged filter dryer. $150.00 later our "cheap" unit is working perfectly! CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!

In addition, I wasn't offered any change even though it was only about .30 cents. I figured that since I was paying the already expired online listed price, then excepting a .30 cent loss was no big deal. After 15 minutes total doing that, they will try to "switch" you to an expensive accessory. In my case I fell for it, allowing them to install an ultraviolet light inside my duct work for over $400 as a mold remediation device. Only after installed did I notice that the light is labeled as a bacteria and virus remediation only. Installer still insists it kills mold, Internet sites say that this only works very expensively in a HOSPITAL setting with MANY lights and mirrors! Do not use these guys services. They are bait and switch artists.
