The manager had no idea what the speakeasy was, so she had to ask another employee, which mentioned that they were closed? It seemed like nobody knew of the speakeasy that was supposedly located in the restaurant. Just save your time and hit the spots downtown. Pretty disappointing.

They also have a nice patio area where you can order hooka and watch the game. There's tables and booths in the patio. I had a couple (3) old fashioned with different whiskey each time and the bartender that night was in point . They have bites and a cocktail menu as well. Where it falls short (IMO) of a true speakeasy is with the signage (the sign says "lounge") and the entry (they don't require any sort of passcode or reservation). I'm not mad at the laid back feel, but it doesn't meet my definition of a true speakeasy. The Throne is more on par with Off The Record. There's a store front, and a hidden bar, but the business is basically broadcasting that it is a speakeasy which sort of defeats the purpose. When we walked in, we were greeted by a security guard who may have been a MO City police officer. He was really nice and told us a little bit about the barbershop. Barbershop customers can grab a drink while they wait. The lounge opens at 4 pm W-Su so the lounge hours actually overlap with the barbershop hours. I don't know anything about the barbershop or the barbers, but they do offer a variety of services. The vibe of The Throne is loud nightclub. The DJ was spinning some good tunes, but it was hard to have a conversation without yell-talking to each other. The patio was quieter and they did have heaters. Patrons are allowed to smoke cigars and hookah on the patio, however I didn't notice anyone smoking while we were there. The patio area had some TVs as well, so it could potentially be a cool spot to catch a game. They do have a food menu, however we did not order any food. I'm not sure how late the kitchen is open, but they offer items like pizza, sandwiches, and wings. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio which I enjoyed. The Throne is in a shopping strip a few doors down from B's Wine Bar. The parking lot is large and there are plenty of spaces, but you may have to park a bit further out and walk. Though it may not meet my definition of a true speakeasy, it's really nice to have bar options outside of The Loop that are open late, and aren't too far from home.

I got the Tuna Tower and it was not only picturesque when presented, but absolutely perfect! Also Dave's Mushroom Swiss Burger and Fries was thoroughly enjoyed! Restaurant has both tables and booths and noise was nonexistent. We ordered the crab cake (it's two pieces) and it had a Texas flair with black beans and corn adornments with a slight jalapeño kick. It was delicious. One entree was the Leslie chicken with pasta. Very tasty and very creamy. Another entree was the pistachio crusted sea bass served over a bed of creamy risotto. It was cooked perfectly and was devine. The table shared the grilled mushrooms and onions which was very good. Will we go back? Without a doubt.

Our server did inform us that everything is homemade from scratch. But it was an hour between when we ordered and our meals came out. That wouldn't have been a problem if I was halfway through my third Dirty Horchata, but it was my lunch hour and time is short. So that knocks it down a star. On to the food- Shrimp Quesadillas- good, the cheese was gooey and had a great pull. It was buttery and fried perfectly, the shrimp were crisp and well cooked. Rice- it was super! Loved it. Refried Beans- one of my coworkers didn't get her beans with the meal. So I gave her mine, since we only had an hour I had to take the beans to go. Don't ask about the guac because I gave it away!
