Downtown Flavortown -- Pigeon Forge, TN Great Concept, Horrible Execution I really wanted to love this place. I met Guy Fieri once at a food festival in Atlantic City, and let's just say he didn't leave me with the greatest personal impression. That being said, I'll always give credit where it's due. I take a Carnival cruise about once a year, and Guy's Burger Joint makes an absolutely phenomenal burger. So when I found out Downtown Flavortown was in Pigeon Forge, it immediately became one of the places I was most excited to visit on this trip. Deep down, I'm a big kid, and I LOVE a good adult arcade. We headed straight for the arcade, but before buying a game card, I wanted to see what kind of prizes they had. The games looked pretty good--mostly the same type of stuff you'd find at Dave & Buster's--but then we walked into the prize redemption room. That completely killed it for me. There was literally not one prize I wanted to win. Everything seemed geared toward little kids, and I think they're completely missing what makes an adult arcade work. At Dave & Buster's, I've won a really nice poker chip set in a metal briefcase and a crystal whiskey decanter set with matching whiskey glasses. These aren't generic prizes either. They're covered in Dave & Buster's logos and insignia. They WANT me taking that stuff home, displaying it, and showing it off to my friends. When somebody asks where I got it, I get to say, "I won it at Dave & Buster's." That's brilliant marketing because now another adult wants to go there and win something cool too. Same thing at Gateway 26 on the Wildwood Boardwalk. I've won signed NFL helmets and other legitimate collectibles there. Those are prizes that make a grown adult look at the ticket requirement and think, "I want that. Let's play." At Flavortown? Nothing. We were standing inside this massive adult entertainment complex looking for one cool prize that would make us want to drop $50 or $100 playing games, and there wasn't one. So we didn't even buy a game card. They literally lost our arcade business because there was nothing worth winning. And that's crazy because the possibilities with the Flavortown brand are endless. Give adults Flavortown poker sets, branded barware, automotive memorabilia, quality glassware, signed sports merchandise--something cool enough that I'll put it in my house and tell my friends, "I won this at Flavortown." Feeling disappointed, we headed over to the tiki bar, which I will admit is a really cool setup. Since I can get a beer anywhere and it was Sunday morning, I ordered their BBQ Bloody Mary. Now, if you're going to call something a BBQ Bloody Mary at a Guy Fieri restaurant, I'm expecting you to go completely over the top. Give me a rib hanging out of it. Brisket. A thick piece of bacon. Something! Instead, I got a Bloody Mary garnished with vegetables. It tasted fine, but come on. Don't advertise a BBQ Bloody Mary if the garnish looks like it came from a salad bar. There was one big bright spot: the pretzels were phenomenal. Bacon-wrapped pretzels sitting in a skillet of cheese sauce, and they were easily the highlight of our visit. I would absolutely order those again. That's what makes Downtown Flavortown so frustrating. The building is impressive, the concept is fantastic, the tiki bar looks great, and there's enormous potential here. But a place bearing Guy Fieri's name should be anything but boring. It should be excessive, ridiculous, memorable and completely over the top. Instead, I left thinking the best way to describe Downtown Flavortown is: Great concept. Horrible execution. read more

Came in excited to try this place cuz of Guy Fieri. Lots of things on the menu sounded good so we got the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, the steak sandwich, chicken sandwich, and a side of mac and cheese. When I tell you... everything was absolutely shockingly flavorless. My steak sandwich had donkey sauce (garlic aioli) and I couldn't even taste the garlic. The mac and cheese was worse than boxed stuff. It didn't even taste like cheese--it just tasted like plain noodles. We were thoroughly disappointed in the food and won't be returning. Bland food aside, our waitress was sweet and very friendly. She kept our drinks full and checked on us appropriately. There are lots of arcade games and things to do. Downtown Flavortown is a super-fun, semi-wild, family-friendly place for lunch or dinner in Pigeon Forge. This is a Guy Fieri establishment and every inch of the place has all of his flair! The atmosphere is crazy!!! There is an arcade, duck pin bowling, a tiki bar and fantastic dining area. The vibe is retro while being modern. There are spots for couples all the way up to large parties. The menu has some wild options. We tried the Fat Boy pizza and Ol' School Steak Sandwich. The pizza was good, but a little too crazy for me. The steak sandwich was incredibly delicious. There are options for everyone! The service is stellar. We love Caesar...he was friendly and efficient. When I had a question about the sauce on the pizza, he had a chef come out to speak to us. He was equally awesome! We would recommend Downtown Flavortown on your next Pigeon Forge vacation. This place was a lot. A lot in terms of you can eat there, play games, watching sporting events or just kick it at the bar. I like that it offered so much because it can be family friendly or group friendly depending on what you want to get into. My friend and I are there and had chicken wings and a chicken sandwich. This place used to be fantastic, we would go yearly, feast like kings and have fun in the arcade, but it has taken a steep decline. The food is no where near as good as it used to be, it went from great food, to not even good. Our server took 40 minutes to give us any drinks and had to remake food with 1 minor adjustment more than once. The service was bad up until the birthday celebration, boy can they celebrate. Don't plan on eating the ice cream tho as it's not good either. The ambiance is still awesome and the theme and concept are really cool but overall quality has taken a STEEP decline this past year. First, the restaurant/arcade feels like a casino. I can't explain it, but it doesn't feel like a Dave and Buster's and the games seemed very expensive. The restaurant itself was just okay. My cheeseburger was decent but not as good as I remember the burgers being on our Carnival cruise - oh, the irony. My kids ate their food without argument, so I assume their meals were okay as well. The restaurant had a 20 minute wait, so it must have been a little busy. Our food took quite a while to make, but I was understanding. The service overall was not great, though. Our server brought the wrong drinks and wasn't interested in refills while we waited. My son's meal came out wrong (he got macaroni and cheese instead of chicken fingers) and no one checked on us. We had to hunt down a server so he could get the correct meal. I also didn't think there was much chicken - it was like 1.5 tenders. Last time I came to Downtown Flavortown it was a few years ago and it was just as good as it was then as it is today. It is nicely decorated and well lit. We were seated pretty quickly when we arrived. Our server was friendly and very attentive. We ordered the kids chicken tenders, kids burger, pretzel bites, and a doughnut burger to share with my husband. The pretzel bites were smothered in cheese which is always a good thing and gave it extra flavor. Both kids meals were really good and had a home cooked vibe to them, which the kids ate it all up. The doughnut burger was the perfect combination of salty and sweet. We also had a strawberry margarita bowl that was huge and tasted great, even though it took us a couple of hours to finish it. Once dinner was done we played a few games which was fun and the kids got some pretty decent prizes from the shop. Our server said it's enough for 2 to share as a meal and enough for 4 to share as an appetizer. It cost 21.95, and it's a heaping of nachos.They bring it to your table served in a metal container that resemble a little trash can. I liked the pickled onions so much, I requested more (I was charged for extra.) Same with the Donkey sauce, but I liked it so much, I purchased a big container of it from the gift shop. And, little secret... The Donkey sauce is labeled Secret Sauce (that's the real thing.) Although, they have a "Donkey" sauce in the gift shop, it's not what is actually served on the Nachos. Anyway, you'll probably be like me and purchase both of them (or more) because they are sold at such a good price, $4.99 each. My wife had the Ceasar salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was overcooked and underseasoned. Our son had the wings. Wings very tasty. Sauce was tasty. I had the ribs, Mac and Cheese, Cole Slaw. The cole slaw was terrible. It was very warm. It needed some vinegar. The Mac and Cheese was creamy, tender but flavorless. It needed salt. It was served on a piece on bread. Why? The ribs were somewhat tender. Not as tender as I would like. The sauce was decent but the ribs themselves were flavorless. I've had better ribs at Ruby Tuesdays. Table for 4 for lunch We approached the restaurant and noticed the huge shared parking lot and a massive Flavortown mural on the side of the building. The restaurant itself was located at the end of the Mountain Mile mixed use complex. We entered, without a reservation and were greeted warmly. I put my name and phone number in the system and was informed it would be about a 10-15 minute wait. While we were waiting, we walked into the gift shop just to browse around. Next thing we knew they were calling our name. We were led to our table, provided menus and our server came over very quickly. We reviewed the menu with the goal of ordering light and/or sharing. We started with drinks. I ordered a Yuengling, and Wifey chose one of her favorites, a Blue Moon. My oldest daughter ordered a sweet tea, and my youngest was happy to see root beer on the menu. Our server then took our food order. My oldest ordered the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls appetizer. Wifey and I shared the Double Barrel BBQ wings with a side of fries that everyone could snack on. My youngest kept it simple with a side of mac and cheese. While we waited, we enjoyed the holiday music playing in the background, and I took a good scan of the interior. The place was huge and had a lot of good energy. Most of the staff was dressed in festive attire, including ugly sweaters and blinking hats.I noticed a full bar located in the center of the restaurant, along with a connected interior game room for the kids that included many of the usual carnival games. The food arrived quickly, and we all started digging in and sharing. My youngest mentioned the mac and cheese could have used a little more seasoning, but overall, we were very happy with our choices. Our table was directly in front of the kitchen, separated by a floor to ceiling window, which gave us a clear view of all the activity inside. The kitchen, restrooms, and entire interior were very clean. Johnny, our server, was very friendly, took great care of us and even told us about the surrounding area and local attractions. Before heading out, we wandered around the interior and discovered some additional lounge areas. I visited this location during my birthday trip. We had a group of 6 and I made a reservation beforehand hand. Once we got there we were told it'll be 15 minutes but that turned into an hour wait for our lanes. The were not very attentive and I had to keep tracking people down to ask them about our lanes. Once we got to our lanes we had to wait for a while for our waitress. I had to ask another waitress to send someone to take our order. A waitress came and took drink orders and that took 20 minutes to receive. Then she came back with the drinks, we finally placed our food order. That took almost 45 minutes to receive our food. The food was OK. The pizza we had was not appetizing at all. The nachos were good. I tried the wings and wished they had more seasoning. We were really looking forward to our time here but unfortunately it was not a great experience and we do not plan to return. read more

What an unexpected place. When I think about a Food Network star's restaurant, it would not look anything like Downtown Flavortown. Instead of being very cuisine-focused with (at most) a kitschy theme, Downtown Flavortown feels more like an arcade with upscale food and drink options. It's really neat, but it's definitely not what I expected! (Protip! If you're going to eat or drink here, plan to do it at a standard table or while duck bowling. It's very very hard to do it while at the arcade!) PROS: -Lots and lots to do here. You can enjoy a sit-down meal, duck pin bowling, or play in an arcade. There is also a gift store and a few photo backdrops available. We didn't actually eat any of the food (only drinks and activities) and still spent 3 and a half hours here. -The place is beautiful. It's clearly newer, but even so, the choice of decor really helped make the place. There are a lot of bright (static) colored lights in addition to reds and woods. It has a bit of a casino feel to it. And of course, the word "Flavortown" is pretty much everywhere. -Gigantic parking lot right outside. Really, it's a mall-sized parking lot. Considering how much difficulty we've had parking a few places in the area, this was a really welcome sight. -"Duck bowling" lanes were pretty new, and they operate flawlessly. We didn't have any issues with miscounted pins or unfunctional hardware. The employee who seated us was also privacy-conscious, and he was seating teams one lane apart since they weren't at full capacity. It made for a really great time. -"Duck" bowling lanes also come with prizes to work towards. You can win a little duck (100 points) or big duck (200 points) if your bowling total is high enough. I'm sure the ducks cost them next to nothing, but it was definitely a deciding factor in whether we wanted to play more games. -Drinks were heavily poured and flavorful. The staff understood their offerings, too, and could offer suggestions based on what flavor profiles you enjoyed. -All of the arcade games worked. While some of them were a little sketchier than others (a ball-tossing game had wet balls that made our hands sticky after playing it; I'm guessing someone spilled a drink in it), all of the games did function as we expected them to. -Arcade games are on a plastic card system. You'll need to head to a kiosk (self-service) to refill them and see how many tickets/points you have, but it is way easier to manage than coins or tickets. -Bathrooms were really clean, and it was cool to see complimentary mouthwash here as well. I can't say I've seen that in a restaurant before. -They have a single room "Family" bathroom in here with children's needs, toilet, and urinal for any families traveling. CONS: -The arcade is missing tables or flat surfaces for drinks. While you're free to grab a drink at the bar and take it into "the" arcade just steps away, the lack of flat surfaces makes this difficult. Since a lot of adults would want to play arcade games with a bit of booze, this does keep the arcade relatively child-heavy. -Prize-to-ticket ratio for "cashing out" your winnings were a bit high. Despite three adults playing the games (versus children who may get lower scores), our $25 of playtime didn't even help us qualify for a movie theater sized box of Skittles. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was definitely surprising. read more

My sandwich was a generous portion, but had little flavor and was very, very dry, even after I put massive amounts of mayo and finally resorted to ranch dressing.
