This is a nice little shop with extremely friendly staff and a great selection. I also was very impressed with the organization of the back issues. Everything was in complete order and well organized. I do think some of the pricing is quite a bit higher than other shops, but there's something to be said for nice Staff and not having to search too hard for what you're looking for. read more

I love Downtown Comics North and have been a loyal customer for years. Heck, I've been a loyal customer there for decades at this point, I think. The store is organized, the staff are knowledgable, and it's a safe haven for all things nerdom. So why the 2-star review? The smell! In the last couple of months there's been some kind of accident with their plumbing or something. It smells like raw sewage in there! I thought it was an isolated incident the first time. But it's been going on for weeks and weeks now. They at least need to get a scented candle or something to cover it up because it truly makes going into this awesome place a dismal experience. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I am 27 years old now and take my son here. I absolutely love this store. They have a great selection of comics. Also, they have a wonderful kids selection as well. It's a great place to take the family and create some memories. The staff also gives the best service and makes you feel welcomed. They always answer my questions or concerns which makes you feel valued as a customer. I would 100% recommend Downtown Comics to anyone looking for a comic book store. read more

This is a great little comic store. They have a lot of comic books and graphic novels. (Including a graphic novel about To Kill a Mockingbird. Who even knew that existed?) There are also a good selection of posters, action figures and Funko, and lots of other fan-boy stuff. You will find things for the superhero fan in your life. The lady who worked here said hello and then left us alone to browse, which was perfect. There's nothing worse than an overattentive clerk. read more

I enjoy visiting different cities comic book stores such as DT Comic North, the store is organized well and what I enjoy the most is the back issues selections that I missed in the past. The customer service was awesome as they gave me what I asked for and their own opinion on what they thought, which is what I value from that. I travel all over the country and at times I want to read something before I can go to my local store to get my pull list. So I stopped into Downtown Comics North today. The good: Huge selection, decent prices The bad: Horrible customer service skills. The tall guy behind the counter was WAY too busy to help or to even try and gain my business. I'm really happy that they have enough business that they dont need to earn new customers. I feel really let down and won't be shopping there ever again. read more

I love this place! I came in to just Chem it out one day and see what it's all about. It was smaller than I'd like but it still have a ton of selections! It's clean, staff is friendly, and she even helped me out by giving me a handful of suggestions to check out! They answered all my questions. Awesome place and I will be going back. read more

This is a good place to visit if you are looking to add to your comic book collection. I stopped by the location on 86th street in Castleton and was pleasantly surprised with the inventory they have on hand. They also have knowledgeable customer service and if you are unable to locate what you are looking for they will lead you in the right direction. One of the best comic shops in the state - a combination of collector's dream store and new comic fan's best buy. Do not skip the massive figurine selection of 1,000's of DC/Marvel characters in multiple sizes from Apocalypse and Darkseid to the Super Friends. One of the few places to find all of the Mouse Guard series plus titles from Image, IDW and more. The store features in-store appearances from Marvel, local artists and well as hosting annual comic events such as 24 Hours. Great staff of hard-working, nice people! read more

I've never really had a comic shop that I always go to till I started coming here. I'm sure part of the reason is because it's the closest one to where I live....but that's definitely not the only reason. Everyone here is always way friendly, and no mater what it is you're into, they probably know every single thing about it...and the 200 stories that came before and after. The best part about comic book nerds running a comic book shop is that they know their stuff!! If you do the whole smart phone thing check out their app. too. It's pretty handy for reserving any of the new book releases. If you've ever wanted to learn about any super heroes, or have never been to a shop and just want to see how fun they can be, come check out Downtown Comics. So happy to have discovered this place! We were in from out of town for a graduation and my daughter was upset she was missing free comic book day at our local nearby comic shop in Kingsport, TN. Luckily, my Indy sister found Downtown Comics online and we were pleased to see cosplay and free comic books! (We of course bought some as well.) Had an awesome time! They deserve more of a 3.5 stars. I have definitely been to better shops. Staff is not all that helpful. I would have loved suggestions. They definitely need more apparel merchandise as well as figurines. They didn't even have a monster section. Which is a bummer my book. #Godzilla read more

Downtown Comics in Castleton is a very friendly and welcoming comic book store. I always feel comfortable with approaching the staff with questions. They have an excellent selection and a staff happy to help you find what you are looking for. It is also family-friendly with the all ages comics found right up front. It is also very clean and pretty well organized. They also have other comic book related merchandise like action figures, trading cards, magnets, t-shirts, and more. One time I went in there and the guy was just standing there playing DnD. and did not help me at all. I love the selection and the friendly customer base. However, one of the managers (not sure of his name, but he is tall, white, and bald) is quite rude and not helpful at all. He consistently left titles from my pull list, and never apologized when I pointed it out. Literally, every week I would have multiple books missing. As for the shopping experience. There are tons of books to choose from, and they have quite a selection of figures as well. read more

Customer service here is pretty great, and the selection seems greater than what many other stores offer--even better than the downtown location, in my opinion. Unlike many other comic book stores in town, this one seems friendlier to new readers, women, and children. read more

DOWNTOWN COMICS in Indianapolis sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday was the release of Superman/Wonder Woman #1. With all new #1's these day there were variant covers. Although I am very loyal to Hero House in Fountain Square, they just don't do the volume to get the 1:25 ratio variants, not even close to 1:100s. So after picking up the regular copy of the book at HH I drove over to the D-C location next to the circle. The girl behind the counter, although friendly (which is a change from D-C's normal arrogant customer service), was totally clueless about there being any variant covers. She finally found both 1:25 covers behind the counter. They were not in bags and boards so they were not priced up, so I said I would take both of them (I didn't expect them to have the 1:100.) When she range them up she said, "That will be $42.85" (they had a $3.99 price tag.) It took a couple of minutes for the price to register in my brain and I asked for the amount again. She gave it to me and said, "These are variants and all variants are $20.00. I asked what the ratio on them was and again she was clueless. I thought to myself for a minute and decided that I really wanted to get them for my wife and paid the amount, even though I knew I was most likely over paying. The point of this very long post is not that I knew I was over paying and bought them anyways. The point is that at $20 a book, that is a 1000% mark up. Really?? I know they need to make money, but that much? When I got home for the day I checked ebay and the 1:25s are going for anywhere between $6 and $12. Sheesh I even found the 1:100s for $25. This is why my pull list is somewhere else. These guys are just d-bags because they think they put Rangeline Comics out of business and forced Comic Carnival down to one store. When really in both cases it was because the new comic book market went south over the last 15 years. They have no place to gloat about being the best with poor customer service because of arrogance, a lack of respect for golden and silverage buyers, and knowingly gauging prices. They are just jerks that were in the right place at the wrong time for others. I will never step foot in any of their shops ever again! read more

I am continuing my post form earlier: First my complaint is about the female employee at the register. Actually, it's all about her. First, she was rude and unhelpful to my girlfriend, (rolled her eyes and grunted when being asked to show where some comics were located). Second, another visit there with my mom, again she was rude and creates a very unfriendly environment. As soon as we left the store my mother commented on how they weren't very friendly in there. Third, on my visit there this past weekend I had a charge of $29.92, used my bank card, the woman behind the counter charges me $299.92 on my card. Now, the manager there did immediately refund the amount back on to my card. He was very polite and apologized several times. The woman just stood there and actually laughed and smiled about it. That left a very bad taste in my mouth. I had several checks out in the mail (mortgage, car payment, etc.) so was hoping this would all clear through my account quickly. Otherwise, I'll be bouncing checks and receiving overdrafts fees from the bank. Thanks to the mistake of their employee. It has caused a mess for me, trying to get money into my account in time to make sure my checks in the mail clear. The refund, I was told, could take up to a week to clear. Point is, 3 bad experiences means 3 strikes and I will not be returning to this store again. which is sad, because I did like the place. Until they take care of the woman who is ruining the environment there, I will continue to stay away from there and recommend to everyone to do the same. read more
