I love old bookstores, especially ones like these where books are just stacked everywhere. I found what I was looking for here and the cost was very reasonable. I went up to pay and he also told me I could pick a bookmark that his girlfriend made to take home with me. Right up my alley. I looked around at some of the other book types and picked up a couple extra books I thought I would like. He definitely had a lot of interesting books, records, posters, etc. Also to note the parking lot that was behind the store had signs that the parking was only for some insurance company and you would be towed, I asked him about it and he said the building used to belong to an insurance company and yes it was the parking for the bookstore. I will be going back to check out other items as I did not have enough time this trip.

Sip N Read is a new bookstore in Cumberland, on the east side of Indianapolis, and it's the cutest little bookstore you ever did see. It's right next door to The Green Bean, a coffee shop and gift store. So, you can visit both places, and literally sip and read. Sip N Read started off as a bookmobile, but has since expanded to a brick-and-mortar bookstore, selling all sorts of books, from children's books to romance to nonfiction. They sell both new and gently used books, as well as "blind date" books that are wrapped and you don't know what they are until you purchase them and unwrap them. How fun! The bookstore is small, but there are a couple of chairs to sit in and read your books. Or, you can just pop over to the coffee shop next door and read, I suppose, if you purchase something. Parking is behind the building and is shared with The Green Bean, so it can be a little crowded.

If you loved the musty charm of Red Dog's Greenwood spot, you'll love this somewhat inaccessible but still charming little place with friendly employees, a ton of books adding up to literary chaos, a non-profit spirit, and the best prices in Indy for used books. Take that HPB. I believe this spot used to house auto repair. You can tell Red Dog is fixing it up and cleaning it up. It's still musty. It's still a bit divey. The books are stacked high and there are sales galore. If you're looking for strict organization? You won't find it here beyond a few sections clearly designated within genre (very loosely) and some sales areas where you can get $2-3 books. They also carry DVD's, audio books, and even VHS. Yes, I still have a VHS player. This is a women-owned, disabled owned shop. They really are a non-profit organization, as well. They offer curbside pick-up - I'll admit I'm not quite sure how that works unless the books are secretly organized way more than I believe they are. I will utter a word of caution as a wheelchair user. Accessibility lacks a bit at the front entrance. There's a small step to the sidewalk in the parking lot - there's no designated parking (I actually had to move my car over when someone parked next to me unexpectedly). I was able to jump the step myself, however, if you have mobility issues just be aware. When you go in the front door, there's also an unexpected step down. It's a slight step that I initially missed - fortunately, my wheelchair could handle it. As I left, the employee noted that there's another option that is more accessible and they're happy to assist if you call them. While they didn't help upon entry, this same employee did help at the front door as I was leaving. Super friendly. Once inside, I found the aisles surprisingly accessible with the exception of a couple corners. I think a larger chair might struggle, however, most manuals should be fine. I found the selection really solid, though they had rows and rows of romance novels and I couldn't find a single nurse romance novel. Yes, I collect nurse romance novels. Leave me alone - you try having almost 100 surgeries and not getting a massive thing for nurses. Seriously, though. They're still getting organized and straightened out. I already love the place and have a feeling it will only get better. I do know they're struggling a bit as they get settled. I'd love, love, love for Yelpers to show up and give them some love. If you can't find a used book here, you probably can't find one anywhere. The eastside really needed a shop like Red Dog Books. There was a fairly steady stream, though certainly they could use more to help spread the word. Definitely a thumbs up for me and I'm going to do what I can to give them a boost!

First time, I tried visiting on a Saturday morning, an hour after they were supposed to have opened. No one was there. I waited around for half an hour, still, no one showed up. Second time, I was dropping off donations, since they listed themselves as a drop off location. I arrived an hour before their close time. No one was there!! Don't list your business as a donation drop off point if you are not going to be open during the hours you've told people to come by! Absolutely ridiculous and a terrible business model.

We have been shopping at Saltire for 4-5 years occasionally. My son did their Pokémon summer Camp…read moretwice and loved it. They had so many crafts and activities for those kids that weren't all the way engaged and wanting to play for long bursts of time. They were accomodating to all kids and my son really loved it. My son recently got into My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, and peaked interest playing Dungeons & Dragons. The selection of merchandise is fairly priced and they have such a wide variety. But the best part is the staff. They're so accomodating, flexible, not condescending or arrogant. They're understanding and break things down for you while remaining honest and not trying to upsell you. We recently went to an Adventure League for D&D on Wednesday nights at Saltire games and had a blast. The gentleman, Gregory, who ran it was very knowledgeable and helped me and my 11 year old as it was our first time playing D&D. Everyone in the group was kind, appropriate, and helpful. It was really a wonderful experience. I'm thankful that Satire hosts these game nights so I can grow closer with my kiddo while learning something new and fostering his imagination.

This place is awesome! We stopped by before heading to dinner with family, not knowing what to…read moreexpect. There is such a large selection of comics, games, and other really cool items. I ended up buying a new comic compilation to read for the plane ride back to California. I am sad this store isn't in Cali, because I would be there every week. The staff was really nice, as the guy at the front counter showed my boyfriend how one of the display games worked. They had a practice match and he took the time to explain the rules and give a couple of tips on strategy. It's great to see someone who really enjoys their job. I didn't have enough time (or money) to grab all the things I wanted, but this store definitely was a high point for my visit back to Indiana. It's going to be somewhere I visit each time I return.
