My brother and I were shopping at the flea market nearby and decided to stop in on a whim. This place is cool! I was expecting some games but they had merch, books, and pretty much everything related to games you could ever want. Plus a bunch of tables to gather and play with others. My brother and I immediately both started texting our friends we knew would like it that they needed to check it out. I did not know so many different games existed. EXTREMELY predatory business practices. Other reviews on here talk about poor online business practices - it is also poor in person. If you request a card pull, they fully expect you to purchase the entire lot despite condition, price, or edition (in my case a 13 quantity card pull). They will not divulge any information about price or availability over email. They don't care about customer service at all. Verbatim, I was told that they price explicitly off of TCG player, so I wouldn't waste your time getting finessed here and just go through TCG Player. read more

This was a very disappointing first experience and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I called the store on Friday and asked if booster boxes could be held. I was told no and that it was first come first serve. I even asked if just one box could be held since I live a fair distance from the store and was told no again. I came in today shortly after opening and was told the product was sold out. While at the counter, I could see two sealed boxes behind it. When I asked about them, I was told those boxes were on hold. I explained that I had called ahead and was clearly told holds were not allowed. A woman named Amy came out, said the store does allow holds, said she was not sure who I spoke with, and blamed a new employee. There was no ownership of the situation and no attempt to make it right. I was not even offered the option to purchase one box. As a first time potential customer, this was enough for me to walk away without buying anything and they had other selections. I will be sharing this experience with friends and would encourage others to consider this when deciding where to shop. read more

DO NOT do business here online. YOU CANT order more than 5 booster boxes per order so DO NOT try, cause they are a small business and CANT handle it. PRICE GOUGE on shipping rates. CHANGE TERMS in realtime for online customers. SCALPER business tactics from what I experienced. Was planning to place a large order of booster boxes. I called and sent an email to confirm product and shipping price because they price gouge on shipping. Someone named ADRIENNE said the $165 shipping estimate was correct and had no issues with the order I was about to place. I responded asking if I'm able to provide my own shipping label that included insurance and tracking. Only asked because I was able to get shipping quotes for half the price. When I received ADRIENNE's response, my order was no longer okay and changed the sales terms. All of a sudden product limits were placed, could no longer ship more than 5 booster boxes, and they increased the price like a bunch of scalpers. All due to me inquiring about this item. From ADRIENNE's email, "We aren't able to use third-party shipping labels. As a pretty small business, we handle shipping through our own system and aren't equipped to process large bulk orders for shipment at this time. Additionally, there is a purchase limit of 5 booster boxes per order." The limit of 5 booster boxes were never their and all of a sudden they decide to remove the sale and price went from $60 to $70. You're a shady business and treat potential customers like CRAP! read more

I am a big MTG fan. I used to play it a lot back in the 90's but quit for many years. I recently met a group of friends who play it, so I've started playing it again and I really enjoy it. I have so much to learn because when I used to play it, it was much simpler. It has evolved so much. One of the players in our group who comes here a lot brought us here. We live in Crawfordsville, so it was a bit of a drive. It was worth it though and I hope to go back soon. We have two comics etc. places here, but not like Valkyries. It's like a candy store for gamers. I love the couch. I posted a picture of it on my Facebook when I checked in and a lot of my friends remarked on how cute it is. The whole store is adorable and so fun. I could spend hours there. There are several tables to play cards and other games. I was pretty sure I was going to see a lot of things I wanted to purchase. I ended up buying a pre-con Aether deck. Another guy in our group bought Blood Rights. That is a powerful evil deck. There were several other things that I would have purchased if I had the money, like a game pad and a set of dice. I have no complaints other than I'm poor. I could've spent so much money there. You know those memes that say, "If I win the lottery I won't tell anyone, but there will be signs."? There's a big bowl of dice that is fun to run your hands through. I heard they have a shop cat, but I didn't see one while I was there. The people who worked there were very nice and very knowledgeable. I was checked out quickly. I really wish we had a place like this in Crawfordsville. It's part of an outdoor mall, so there was plenty of easy access parking. We made it a point to check out 5 Below next-door. I was not as impressed with it as much as I was with Valkyrie's. Make sure you make a lot of time to go through the store if it's your first time visiting. My friend said this place was amazing. I traded in some rare Pokemon cards, and they gave me a REALLY GOOD price. I also got a really good price on some Pokemon ETB's.

It's very lovely the cats are wonderful and it's all just a good vibe. I got there for pokemon though so whenever I go I usually only see Phantasmal flames stuff which gets old. read more

I pre ordered a collectors set last year and released day come out. This "hobby shop" unseals your products or makes you pay scalper prices. They do not then sell the unsealed product for the unsealed price. They claim this prevents scalping but it really doesn't. Anyone can reseal the boxes with shrink wrap, it is well known in the Pokémon community, if they were actually apart of it, which they are not. They are just looking to scalp actually hobbyists. And WOTC products are even easier to reseal. I brought up the complaint in a discussion forum and was just harassed and told to shop elsewhere. Then banned from the forum because they claimed to be victims. I was looking for an honest discussion and I was met with manipulation and bullying. Which considering the demographic of to whom I was speaking was quite ironic. I've dealt with a lot of bullying growing up and to see this happen in my community is really sad. read more

I've been to this place a couple of times to buy some single cards for my collection. the owners are nice and all of the cards (at least the ones i have purchased) have been reasonably priced. they have a huge inventory of cards. They have tons of binders of Magic and Pokémon cards, and the entire place has a nice vibe to it. Will visit again. read more

This store is great and the owners are awesome people. Whether you're a diehard card collector, shopping for a gift for your grandkids or just looking to try out a new board game you can't find at the big box stores, you'll find something at Valkyries Vault. They have a fairly comprehensive inventory of Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! And a bunch of other card sets along with those Pop! figures, comics and a limited selection of retro video games. When my kids do chores, they will want to spend their wages here and I can always hang a trip to the store out there as a reward. read more

My husband and I have stopped into this shop a couple of times. On our first visit the young lady working showed us around and answered allnof our questions. Tonight we went in and tried a few of the demo games. It is amazing that they allow you to try the demo games. There are a few we really want to go back and try when we have more time. One of the employees tonight sat with us and walked us through the game called Munchkin. He was super helpful! He also stopped and helped customers and remained very engaged with the activity of the store. We ended up buying a game that my husband has played in the past. read more

Awesome selection and friendly staff, great prices on mtg singles and boosters. Also have a great selection of high end cards that you would have a hard time finding elsewhere. A wide selection of board games, DND miniatures, and assorted collectibles are available as well. The store cat was also a cute surprise :). Looking forward to returning soon. read more
