As an Elder Millennial raising little 90's wannabees, this shop has quickly become a family favorite. Everyone working there is really friendly and helpful. There's always been at least one employee that will geek out with us about our favorite characters. I recently purchased a Coraline doll for my youngest from The Toy Pit, and she was so thrilled. I visited The Toy Pit at their new location on College Avenue. You can't miss it -- just look for the amazing mural painted all over the building, which includes pop culture and comic book icons, and ... MF Doom?! Wow! I love this place! The space is huge, and they have everything from Star Wars to Barbie to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Funko Pop to LEGO. Plus lots of other things I'm forgetting. So many toys and collectibles. It's a collector's paradise. The Toy Pit also has a good selection of vinyl records, which was surprising to me. I found many that I would have loved to add to my collection, if I had a vinyl collection. They also have several pinball machines on one wall that are 25 cents to play. This is a cool place to not only find collectibles, but hang out for a while and play some games. read more

Nicely decorated building, super easy to spot, though if you miss it, look for the Rally's, it's right by that. Inside, there is plenty of space. They could probably add a gaming (of any kind) and/or comics area and they would still have extra room leftover. The toys are a decent mix of some vintage items and a lot of re-releases. And it's a little bit of everything. Funko pops, Star Wars, Wrestling, a bunch of 80s IPs, Barbies, Legos, small selection of old video games, etc. They could probably do with a bit more organization and maybe find one thing to do really well. I believe they're fairly new, so hopefully it's just a matter of still getting the place ready. But there's a lot of potential there. read more

I will admit that considering the side of town where The Toy Pit is located that I may very well have been expecting a different kind of "toy" pit. That was before I saw their dynamic mural, of course, and before I turned my car around and had to check it out. Whoa. The Toy Pit is, well, a toy pit. You're talking vintage and modern toys, action figures, familiar, unfamiliar, comics, vinyl, pop culture t-shirts, the biggest collection of Funko Pops I've seen, LEGO, Marvel, DC Comics, WWE/WWF, Video Games, Music Memorabilia, comic books, and a heck of a lot more. The Toy Pit buys stuff - leaning toward collectibles - and has created an atmosphere that manages to feel both welcoming and like it's a little bit closer to nerd heaven. You've got a row of $.25 pinball machines and quite a bit more. You notice how I keep saying more? That's how it feels here. I didn't see any Paddington (Yes, I'm a 50+ year old dude obsessed with Paddington. Deal with it). I love horror collectibles (and Paddington). The prices are fair, trade-in prices are reasonable for the most part, and employees are friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't have a lot of time when I stopped in, however, once I spied the sign I knew I needed to check it out. My only regret is visiting here the same day as Yelp Elite Nicole S. and not running into her! Seriously, I've been on a nostalgia kick lately and The Toy Pit, an Indiana-based shop now with 13,000 square feet, is an absolute blast with lots to choose from whether you're a hardcore gamer, collector, newbie, or simply curious. The new store is a substantial upgrade and seems at least twice as big. The mural on the outside is on another level. Inside, there is so much more on display, it will give you pause. Give yourself at least an hour to browse and visit often as their collection of toys and memorabilia is always changing. For me, looking at the Star Wars and G. I. Joe toys from the 80s was like a stroll down memory lane. They have something for everyone and is absolute must visit. read more

The Toy Pit is a place I have been wanting to see since they moved to their 38th and College location. It was closed the last time (Monday) so I took advantage of having a meeting in the area and visited today. Location is LARGE which allows for many display cases and shelves full of new and used toys, posters, masks, records, video game, dolls and figurines, models, comic books, clothing, board games, cards, etc. etc. there is a bank of pinball machines on the right as you enter. I can't believe I now just discovered this place!! I started getting into collectibles this year after going to a few conventions and man I wished I knew this place existed. But all is well and I have a new go to for my new addiction...err I mean hobby, yes hobby. The Toy Pit is located right by I69 and 96th street so it was fairly easy to get to. Once I stepped inside I knew I arrived. This place is kinda big and filled with toys, figures, collectibles, vinyl records, comic books and more. I spent what seemed like a good hour just hunting through all their merchandise. I gotta say it was so much fun doing it as well. They even had 2 WWE Funko Pops I've been looking for (Sasha Banks and AJ Styles), which were at reasonable prices!! They also had so many genres to choose from: Pro-wrestling, Star Wars, Marvel, Anime, video game characters, Simpsons, Star Trek, DC, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, GI JOE, Transformers, rock stars, heck they even had Buffy The Vampire Slayer figures. I could keep going really. Did I mention they have pin-ball machines? Yep, 4 of them!! I really had a good time toy hunting here! The staff was awesome and it didn't break the bank either. Out of all my trips to the area, how have I never been here? Stopped in for the first time today and was floored by the selection. They had toys from all eras as well as a small selection of vinyl. While I left empty-handed, that was just due to looking for some items to round out a collection I'm working on. Definitely saw some items that piqued my interest. I'm such a toy nerd that's why I was shocked that I didn't know about this place. I recently got into collecting childhood toys and I was wishing my little girl heart out that there was a store nearby that I could peruse for hidden childhood gems. I look up food and services on Yelp..why not toy stores? (Ty Yelp, you know why I love you.) The outside of the Toy Pit is very understated. The inside made me stand in awe for a few. It was truly mind boggling to me at how many toys are in this place. Practically floor to ceiling. I saw a lot of favorites like Transformers, Star Wars, TMNT and Thundercats. The Gundam selection is also pretty impressive. Picking through the Funko Pops was fun..there were a lot that I didn't know existed. Like the jumbo Deadpool Squirrelpool we purchased. My handsome flocked dude is watching me type up this review. I'll be returning soon to pick up some Littlest Pet Shop figures to repaint (my other new hobby) and I have my eyes on some of the anime figurines too. 100% recommend the Toy Pit. They sold my husband a fake Labubu after he was trying to surprise me, and once this was realized to be fake, they refused to refund us. My husband had asked if it was authentic because they sold some out of box ( people sell their duplicates to them)- and they had said they are authentic as others were confirmed, and some story about how older versions may not have a QR code... well this was the most recent series and obviously fake if you know anything about Labubus. Taking advantage of someone who didn't know better is gross - you sell toys and collectibles at a higher price than they are at Popmart, you should really take the time to know ! Really disappointed they wouldn't refund us 45 bucks knowing that it's fake (and I explained how it's fake ) and I've given this place plenty of business by buying Funko Pops in the past few months... when I called, the manger was too busy to talk and only offered in store credit- which is annoying because just give me my hard earned money back ??? just so tasteless and disappointing :/ I won't be giving them any more business and wanted to warn others who might be trying to get Labubus. read more

They must not know the collectible prices have gone down on most all action figures. Tons of funko pop at this store which I'm not a fan of. I didn't see an employee smile once while in there. Not willing to offer cash for my trade in only store credit! I'll be hard pressed to return. Especially when there are so many other toy shops in the city. The largest toy store in the Midwest has come to College Ave! If you are looking for something niche, collectible, or just looking for something cool then this is the place. The vibe is chill, not trendy, and the staff are awesome. Everyone is chill and super helpful. You can visit a hundred times and see something new. That's the point, right? They are always buying, selling, and trading. It's a revolving door of whatever you may like. I saw some tiny Dragonball figures I haven't seen since I bought them myself in the 90s! If I didn't have the set already, I would have jumped on it. You'll find yourself saying, "I can't believe they have this!" a lot. I think the prices are fair. Somethings are rightfully expensive, whereas many things are cost-effective. You really can find anything here. The art outside by local artist Kwazar is so well done! When I first saw the Goku go up, before anyone knew what store was coming, I knew it was going to be a welcomed addition to my block. The inventory of this place is amazing. There are so many gaming and action figures that my head was spinning. So many cool things for collectors of fantasy themed pieces that I have to admit it is the largest collection I've seen. However, it looks kind of like a teenager's room when you walk in. Boxes of stuff clutters the walkways and the place could use a good cleaning. Maybe that appeals to the normal clientele, but I found it distracting. I wasn't able to discern any sense of grouping for some areas of the store. This place could be so much better with a bit more effort to making it organized and maintained.
