It's not a big store, but they make use of every square inch of the space they have. They had a huge array of everything. My cousin found a book he was interested in so he was very excited and happy. So I appreciate when I can just ask, "What's good right now?" and have them suggest some books for me.

Coming from San Francisco, where most shops aren't much bigger than Mage's restroom area, I was absolutely blown away by how massive and spacious this store is! The variety of comics was refreshing. You'll find all the week's comics easily. As for back issues, there are drawers that pull out so you don't have to reach all the way to the back of an old long box. They had plenty of long runs of titles which were reasonably priced. Notably, there was a display of the old Mirage Studios TMNT which brought me back to the days when I was an avid collector of Independents. I felt like a kid again! Between the incredible comics, the massive selection of toys and games, and the lineup of arcade machines, I truly felt like I walked into a time machine and was transported back to a time from my fondest memories. If you get a chance, stop by and relive your own childhood. Just make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy every inch of this wonderful comic book store!

This place works great for me because it's really close to my house and it's locally owned. That way I don't have to drive a long way to find what I need for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. The Hero's Emporium has always had a great selection of brushes, paints, and miniatures that I have come to rely heavily upon as a Dungeon Master. I am always able to find the miniatures that I am looking for whether that be a female gnome paladin or several packages of gnolls that I can paint and throw at my party. All the miniatures are very reasonably priced too, so I can get even larger miniatures like a storm giant for only around $15. For as long as miniatures take me to paint, this is well worth the money. I also want to mention that they offer a decent selction of dice sets to choose from, which is important for any D&D campaign, especially when your dice are fickle. I also love that they offer both old and new sourcebooks for D&D as well as official Nolzurs paint sets, and Icons of the Realms. This gives me a large pool to choose what will be most exciting for my party. Finally I wanted to mention that this business has also done tabletop nights. Although I personally have not attended one of those events, I support the space this business is building for the tabletop community. The staff has also always been very welcoming and helpful, making sure that I am finding everything that I am searching for. I am also occasionally able to find expansion packs for a bit more obscure card game called Smash Up here, which is delightful considering that it's so hard to find in just a regular store like Target. I will continue to come back and support this business in their mission to help the tabletop community thrive.

There are stores you visit and stores you have history with. Game Time in Castleton falls firmly…read moreinto the second category for me, which makes writing this review feel less like a consumer report and more like a transmission from a long time ally. Pre-COVID, Game Time was the premier MTG destination on the north side of Indianapolis. Double digit attendance weekly across multiple formats, Regional Qualifier events for the Pro Tour, the kind of competitive scene that made this place feel less like a local game store and more like a Jedi Temple for Magic players. I played in those events. I remember what this place was capable of when it was operating at full power. I came in on a Saturday for the MTG Hobbit prerelease event, which drew eight players. Eight. The play area that used to hum with the energy of a full Rebel fleet now has half its tables cordoned off indefinitely, like a wing of the Temple that nobody talks about anymore. It is noticeable, and it is a little melancholy if you were there for the golden era. That said, the eight of us who showed up had a genuinely good time. The event ran smoothly, the staff kept things moving, and cracking Hobbit themed prerelease packs at a table with fellow players is still one of the better ways to spend a Saturday regardless of headcount. The store itself remains worth visiting for TCG singles and sealed product. The collection is large, well organized, and if you are hunting a specific Magic card for any format, this is a reliable place to find it. The rewards program is solid and worth using if you are a regular. The staff is nice, knowledgeable, and treats you like someone who belongs there. Four stars for a store that was once the Death Star of competitive MTG in Indianapolis and is now rebuilding. The foundation is still good. Here is hoping the play area opens back up and the Rebel alliance returns in full.
