I can never resist a comic book store, or any nerdy store in general, so when we happened upon Comic Carnival, my husband and I had to stop. They had lots of comics, ranging from new to older and cost only $1. They also had heroclips, d&d books, dice, funko pops and even some manga. The employee was chill and chatted with us about comings and trading cards while we looked around. I ended up setting on a Jughead comic because I grew up on Archie comics. That of course started the Riverdale tv show conversation. The employee was definitely someone who is perfect to work at a comic book store. He's not overbearing with asking if u need anything but also keeps up the conversation. I am hoping to come back soon.

Need something specific? Like Walking Dead Book 3, or a copy of Walt Disney's 101 Dalmatians? Yeah, they have it. Don't see it on the shelves? They'll order it for you. Great for gifts, graphic novels, new and old comics, magazines and even a few figurines and games, Comic Carnival is a must for any comic fan in Induanapolis.

By far my favorite comic book store in the city. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be "authentic." It feels like an old school comic book store. The sort where everyone is welcome, the smell of paper wafts at you the second you walk in, and the staff knows their stuff. If I want something special, I call or tell the guys at the register what I'm looking for. They do their best to track it down. I prefer this over searching for a book on Amazon. Not only could the Amazon product be not as good as advertised, but I want to support a local business with local employees. The staff here is crazy nice and fun for geeky chats. We discuss the latest antics by Marvel, what happened this week on Arrow/Walking Dead/SHIELD, and more!

I've been to all the comic shops in Indy area and this is the best one. Tons of back issues and keys behind the counter just ask.

Been getting comic books here since the 80s and they were next to the post office. It's your friendly neighbourhood comic book store.

Ask the Community - Comic Carnival

A gentleman associated with Carnival Comics named Ron Hon visited Filippi's Pizza Grotto (where I waitressed) when in San Diego for Comic Con. Haven't seen him since 2007 and wondered what happened to him? An update would be appreciated.

I worked there with him at comic Carnival back in 1991 till 94. He was a good guy.

Updating my review of Luna Music and bumping it up from four stars to five. This is because a) Luna…read moredeserves all five stars; and b) it's been nine (!!) years since my last review. In my last review, I think I complained about being a tired mom with macaroni and cheese stains on my pants. Well, nine years later, I'm still a mom but fortunately less tired, the stains on my pants are from red wine and vegan tzatziki, and the kids I made macaroni and cheese for have grown up and are very interested in music. And they ask me to take them to Luna Music. I'm always happy to oblige. My oldest kid love Luna Music because he can find albums for the bands that he listens to. Bands and artists that are not on my radar at all (Blood Orange? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?), but he loves them, and it makes him happy to find them here in vinyl. Luna has a lot of new music on vinyl. This is the place to visit in Indianapolis if you're looking for any kind of new music. They are on top of it. In fact, I subscribe to their weekly newsletter just to keep abreast of the new music that drops every week. Luna Music keeps me young and able to relate to my children, who have astounding musical taste for their age. Luna skews toward records, but they also have a smaller selection of used CDs, as well as a collection of used cassette tapes that are smaller still. You can also find zines, local artwork, greeting cards, record players and other fun things. The people who work here are super friendly and not at all snobby. There are no Jack-Black-from-High-Fidelity people here!

Had an occasion to make a return trip to Luna Music and it was as rewarding as our earlier visit…read more Chill vibe and friendly staff. Even helped us with a lunch spot recommendation. . Hope this business continues to thrive.
