This store is phenomenal. It had a great selection of comics, aswell as volumes and compendiums on the shelves. The prices were good too, with comics being pretty cheap, especially compared to prices in other stores. The man running the store was very nice and talkative aswell, helping you if necessary. At a recent Yelp Event, I had a brief conversation with Stacy P and Niki B about vanishing communities that draw people in just for the experience of being there. Maybe you'll find something that you don't find elsewhere. With Nashville, IN undergoing a huge property sale, we were trying to think of places that are similar that could carry on. I think with more shops like the Hero House, Fountain Square could become one of those places. I know, it's a comic shop and it carries all the current titles as well as having an inventory of graphic novels, clothing, and merchandise. But, having this clean and organized business right in the heart of Fountain Square gives locals access to this type of entertainment as well as offering visitors something to do during the daytime. I mean, although I can eat a lot, I want more than just bars and restaurants if I am going to drive 40 minutes into the city to grab lunch or an early dinner. I feel that getting a wide variety of independent shops to fill in the spaces between the places to eat would make Fountain Square a place to visit and stay awhile (other than just drinking in a bar.) Between Virginia Avenue, Shelby Street, and Prospect, there are lots of spots that are just a short walk from each other that if business owners wanted to take a chance, there could be a ground swell of visitors to the area. And Hero House is a great example of what a community needs: Friendly staff who know their products and have a solid inventory of items available. I found free street parking out front and around the corner. Plenty of room inside without feeling like it was overcrowded. It made for a pleasant shopping experience. This place is small, but with big treasures! Its in a prime location at Fountain Square, right in the middle of bars, restaurants and even the delicious coffee shop, Funkyard. This comic book store is chocked full of awesome t shirts that range from $10.00 to $20.00, current cult classic books, graphic novels, every major comic book series along with plenty of local artists and some of my favorite books (Bongo, don't judge you bunch of nerds, haha!). They also have lots of Pop! figures, collectibles and other knick-knacks. The guy working while we visited asked lots of questions and offered suggestions. He was pretty friendly and even offered to stay open late for us (I could not get my freakin' boyfriend out of there!) We ended up buying about $40.00 worth of merch after we searched every nook and cranny of this teensy shop. Also, they have a great check in deal! You can get one free comic book from a huge selection with any purchase. Don't forget to check in so you can take advantage of this awesome offer. :) We would definitely shop here once a week if we lived in the area. Great little comic book shop! It's small and the selection is somewhat limited, but it's a cool little space and the staff/management are super nice and are genuinely interested in helping you find what you need. I've always wanted to come check this place out, and just haven't made time. When I planned to spend the day in Fountain Square for my birthday though, and I saw the awesome post they put on my Facebook wall wishing me a happy birthday (I'll upload a screencap), I made sure they were the first stop on my list. The owner/manager (not sure which, but he seemed to be in charge, and that he was the one who did the birthday post) recommended some new comics I might like, and even though he didn't have what I was looking for in stock, he ordered more on the spot and encouraged me to come back. He also answered some burning questions I had about individual issues vs. trades vs. compendiums and how they're organized. I walked out very satisfied, with a few issues of something new, and the latest volume of Saga. I wasn't so in love that I'll ditch my neighborhood shop (I live up in Castleton), but I'll gladly give them my business the next time I'm in the area! If you find yourself shopping around in the area, and you have even the tiniest inclination toward comic books/graphic novels or even kitschy, nerdy toys/apparel this place deserves a spot on your list! read more

We visited from out of town and went to three other disappointing comic book shops before finding The Hero House. I immediately liked the shop; it's clean, well organized, a great selection of new and old comics, and Dale who was working the counter was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. This shop was a breath of fresh air compared to the other shops we visited that day. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again the next time we're in the area. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see this comic store while I was walking around the hipster area of Fountain Square. I came in because my niece wanted to check out the store. The place is small but has the comics arranged neatly & in alphabetical order. I haven't read comics in years and was surprised that an employee named Dale knew about Milk & Cheese when I asked if they carried that old comic series. Dale is a walking encyclopedia of all things related to comics. They took down my name/phone number in notebook and informed me that they would call if they had any Milk & Cheese in the future. This store also sells a limited amount of clothing. This is a great comic book store. read more

A store after a geeky girls heart. I always get excited to see what rarely seen Star Wars action figures I can find for my fanatic boys. I personally drool over the t-shirts and buttons. The array of comic books and graphic novels is enough to keep you busy for hours. And don't forget to look up! You never know when there will be a communicator from Star Trek or a Pokémon stuffed animal hanging above your head or sitting on top of a shelf. And their prices are fabulous! If you've got a question, they've got the answer. If not, they'll do there best to find out. I love having a comic book shop in the neighborhood. There's something about it that kinda makes the Square even more unique. Like something would be missing if it wasn't there. Visit them frequently is my solid advice. read more

We stopped by here today while hanging out in Fountain Square. Great shop. It is hard to find a comic book store anymore so it was fin to go in and look around. My daughter was happy to find a Manga section and their little pins are cute and they make them there. The person working was very helpful and super nice. We will return. read more

It's a great little space, I previously reviewed it and gave it a poorer review because it never opened on time. I haven't been back at opening since then, but the times I have been back I have found the books I was looking for and am always greeted by a kind staff member. Went in to buy a Deadpool hoodie on display in the window. They only had one for sale, and it was not the one on the manaquin. Cashier in the Mega Man shirt was not willing to help at all and followed suit with classic cliche comic stores. Why put something on display in the window and then say it's not for sale? read more
