I can always find something that I didn't know I needed at Books-A-Million. This location is convenient for me and I was running a few errands nearby. I was looking for nice writing pens, but I could not find exactly what I wanted. I did find a couple of books that I purchased. They have some unique gifts in their gift section that were tempting as well. The clerk was super friendly and engaging. We asked if he wrapped and he thought we said rap, and we all had a good chuckle. Anyway, checkout was quick. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot including accessible parking. read more

Who doesn't love to randomly stop into a bookstore when they have a few extra hours on their hands? Who enjoys going to spend those extra hours in a bookstore that doesn't have coffee or a sitting area? Funny background on this location, I used to work here when I was 19 and pregnant as the barista in their now demolished cafe area. At "Joe's" we used to have maybe 3 small round tables with two chairs each & 2 cushioned chairs in the corner with a small table between them. They brewed hot coffee round the clock and also offered a large variety of tea & two slushy type drinks. There was also a food case that had a variety of pastry's & typically one or two savory options. Who made the decision to enclose that area, build a wall & put more books there? Terrible idea & drove me to try and find elsewhere to read in peace and quiet. Although I found quite a few books I wanted to pick up - the atmosphere gave rushed & "DON'T stay awhile" anywho, check out the photos I add- new reads for you all to look into! read more

I really like this book store! I came and based for 20 minutes and really enjoyed it! It's about a 30-minute drive from home, but I totally don't mind it. They have a great selection of books and other things. I need to return! read more

They have a really good hot mocha latte here at their coffee shop. I don't know if it is still here.

LOVE books-a-million! They always have a great selection of manga and pretty good prices! Nice staff as well :) read more

I did a pick up order at Christmas time and forgot to pick it up but went in there one day late and they honored the online price. Everybody in there was super helpful and friendly. read more

Good store good business good co workers uhhhhhhhhhhhhh what else can I say to say how good this store is??? Uhhhh, really good selection of items. You think "oh this is just a bookstore that sells books and that's a little bit boring." But no. They sell EVERYTHING. You want vinyls?? They have it, you want book bags and legos and plushies and random Knick knacks?? They have it. They even have puzzles ands stuff. Dude this store literally saved me so many times with Christmas gifts. And the membership, saves you money aswell. I spend 100 and get 25 off on top of the 10% off everything (besides trading cards and legos) but that's still everything. I sound like a big ad for the store but isn't that what yelp reviews is? you definitely gotta come try it out yourself. Def better than Barnes and nobles in my opinion. And the customer services are so likeable and helpful. read more

This books store is awesome. There so few books and gift shops left and I'm happy we support our local store. They have a Joe's Coffee Cafe plus a large assortment of gifts from kids to adults and games/puzzles. If you need a magazine OMG the whole back wall is ALL magazines. There's plenty of parking too. read more

I'm here at least once a week to spend my hard earned monies on my favorite vinyl toys (Tokidoki FTW!), magazines, manga and duh, books. ebooks are great, but sometimes my senses need the touch and smell of good old fashion book. Seriously, there's nothing like the sound the paper makes as you turn to the next page or the smell of ink on paper. I recommend signing up for the Millionaire's club card: you'll always get 10% off your purchases and you also get some awesome discount coupons to use with your card. The only thing I don't like is that there is never a barista whenever I go in there. I always have to ask an employee to find someone and sometimes I wonder if the person making my latte is an actual barista. read more

It's nice to have a bookstore right around the corner from both home and work in order to pick up things, or just to wander and browse in between life. They do have some nice values on their their "Deal Carts" stationed outside the store and many great deals inside, too. I also find that they have a really friendly team willing to step in and help when possible. read more

If you have to buy a NEW book, and don't have time for Amazon, and you live on the West Side, Thank Heaven for Books-a-Million. Luv it for keeping the pretension to a palatable level, having actual helpful, and knowledgeable employees, and a decent bargain rack! Kudos Well Done BAM! read more

Either I'm super-cheap or all chain bookstores are over-priced. My things to buy here are their $1, $2, $3, and $5 close-out specials. You can see them on mobile racks out front on nice days. Their 10% discount club costs $20/year. Which means you have to buy at least $200 of books per year to make it worthwhile. "But we give you so many coupons!" they say. However, the coupons are not for free books, they're for dollars-off or %-off new releases or other high-markup items. Meaning I have to SPEND even MORE money to "make back" my $20/year membership. No thanks. I just don't buy the kind of stuff that their coupons are for. But it's a good bookstore as far as brick-and-morter chain bookstores go, as long as you can avoid the over-priced impulse-buy junk. They also have an over-priced coffee/snack shop. I guess I'm just too much a Big Lots/Dollar General/Family Dollar/Aldi kind of guy to get excited about this type of place. read more

I love Books A Million. I realize it's a chain but it's a in a perfect location for me ...about five miles from my house and there is nothing else with such a large, organized selection. If they don't have what you need in the store, you can go online with a free shipping code and have it delivered to your house. I LOVE THAT!! It is average "bookstore" pricing, and the membership to get larger discounts (a standard 10% but more on special books) is only $10 a year! This is better than the $25+ at Barnes and Noble. Great place for finding just the book you are looking for, gifts for any book lover, cute non-cheesy birthday or anniversary cards, fun games for kids, extensive magazine selection, incredible/knowledgable staff and inexpensive membership fee. Can't get better than that! LOVE BOOKS! read more

Bookstores are quickly going the way of the dodo bird if you haven't noticed. This is a cheaper alternative to your typical big box bookstore. However the trade off is the yet lack of selection. Don't go expecting to find your obscure title. Go to explore. And enjoy the fine coffee shop inside, Joe Muggs. read more

I love all bookstores, especially independents. However, Books-A-Million is a great chain store that carries a HUGE selection of magazines. I love their great prices and all the fun stuff up front in the store. It's a neat place to go when you need a gift for someone because you're sure to find something! It was a good day when Books-A-Million opened on this side of town because it's one of the only large-scale stores around. It always has a steady stream of customers, but it's still a quick in and out. Good location. read more

Books-A-Million is convenient if your in Park 100 area or at St. Vincent and need a new book to kill time. I find most of my purchases are made at Amazon who is almost as fast as Jimmy Johns, freaky fast! I do enjoy browsing the books I want to order online and looking for good sales. Sometimes you just need a quiet spot to flip through pages and relax with a coffee. I often find cute gift items for my niece and nephews while browsing. read more

I know the rage is having e-books on a Kindle or tablet but for me there is something quite special about owning & using a physical copy of a book. The crisp smell of a new book, how the pages feel underneath my fingertips & knowing that this is a piece of the past that seems to be slowly fading away along with newspapers. I can only stare at a computer screen for so long before needing a break but I can spend hours reading from an actual book. The only way a person can browse through a book & see if it is something they actually want to purchase to continue to read further (& possibly refer to later on as well) is to go to an actual bookstore. Sure I can get online to read a blurb but it's a blurb that Amazon or the publisher has chosen to share. I like to flip through the pages/chapters to find a little morsel & if it catches my eye then I'll probably end up buying it. Even if it doesn't end up being a very good book it can still be useful...everyone needs something propped up now & then & books have been fulfilling that need for a very long time :-) Though BAM is very similar to B&N (complete with coffee shop, WiFi & various non-book items) there doesn't seem to be as many choices on the west side to go to. The employees greet you & ask if you need assistance without being overly attentive. Today a woman needed help & the man working in the coffee shop was able to help her find the section she was trying to find...that's good cross training of employees! He then asked if I was finding what I needed & after I replied yes, he went back to the coffee shop to resume his work. Granted it was the middle of the afternoon & it wasn't really very busy but it showed he was paying attention & cared enough to help. If you're someone who prefers to order your books from online you should try to see if a physical store has the copy first...esp. if you are out & about anyway. No matter how fast ordering from online feels, nothing beats having book in hand if you're paying the same price as you find it online & being able to enjoy it immediately. read more

The layout was very familiar...seems like Barnes and noble to me. Their prices seemed similar as well. I was only look for some cheap books to read to a baby. Here, ever the sales items were a little pricey. Sorry, but I'll go to another book store...or Barnes and Noble if I need one of those. read more

On 12/26/19 I went to see if they had Christmas cards on sale. I also found calendar and ornaments at 50% off. As I was checking out at the register, I asked the young lady if everything was ringing up 50% off (because I couldn't see the prices on my side of the register). She said yes and that I was getting some great deals. I got out to my car and checked my receipt and noticed one ornament rang up full price at $8.99. I walked back in and asked for my 50% discount back. She called the shift manager who came and scanned one of the same ornaments and said it wasn't 50% off. I said, it's on the same display with all of the other ornaments and a big red sign saying 50% off. She said she can't just reduce the price. I questioned why since she was a manager and said that it was false advertising. Since she refused to compensate me, I then walked BACK out to my car to get the ornament to return it Then they wanted my phone number (in order to process a return), which I refused to give and they indicated that was an issue, then they wanted to put the refund on a gift card but I told them I wasn't coming back to their store, and insisted they put back on my credit card, which they reluctantly did. I asked for the shift mgr name and on 12/27 I called their corporate office to issue a complaint. By 1/6/20, I still hadn't heard from a member of management so I called Corp customer service again. Finally, I got a call from the GM and she left a message asking me to call her back. I called the next day and after explaining the whole scenario to her again, she said, well you got your refund, so I don't know what else I can do for you. I mean, she could have offered some sort of additional compensation (maybe a discount on another product since the ornaments were all gone by now) to impress a consumer so they'd want to patronize their store again, but she failed. Everyone in that situation failed and I will NEVER step foot in that store again! Poor management all around! read more

Can't really go wrong with tons and tons of books. Quite honestly, the one thing I can complain about was that not ONE employee spoke to me. Not when I walked in. Not when I almost bumped into one in the spiritual books aisle. Not while my wife tried to get an adult coloring book out of me; we stood in that section for 10-15 mins... Wow... I think I need to take away half of a star. Sheeeesh... Great space. Great selection... Hope you get some employee interaction when you visit. read more

It has been awhile since I've visited a bookstore. I've moved to e-books except for my cookbooks. I still love a traditional hardcover cookbook. I stopped in here looking for a particular cookbook one evening. I passed two employees before I was greeted. I did find this a bit odd, as I'm accustomed to being greeted and asked if I need help. The third employee who was on the ground taking inventory, did greet me and ask if I needed any assistance. By this time, I was at the back of the store after having no luck finding the cooking section. As soon as I turned to reply to her, I saw my intended target. I informed her I had found it and went to browse. There were 3-4 shelves filled with cookbooks. While they didn't have the particular book I was looking for, I did browse through others so all was not lost. While looking, an employee was coming down the aisle pushing a cart. I did step back so they could easily pass. No "excuse me" or anything was offered from the employee. I usually say excuse me if I block someone's viewing, but that's just me. I passed the clearance section on the way out of the store, and stopped to take a peek. Store seemed pretty well stocked with books and other items. I left empty handed, but would stop in again. read more

I went here today looking for a Piccadilly Dot Grid Essential Notebook, which, according to the Books A Million website, was in stock at this store (teal color). I drove from Noblesville to this location after finding that this would be my only luck - can't seem to find it anywhere else. We rolled up to the store. Honestly, it didn't even really look open. It was open, though, so I went in and began searching for the journal. The employee at the cash register did greet us when we entered. I am usually good about finding stuff on my own and don't like asking for help due to anxiety, so I spent a little bit searching before finally deciding to ask the employee at the register for help. I showed her what I was looking for, as I had it pulled up on my phone. The employee took me to the journal section that I already perused and grabbed a dot journal that didn't seem to have a name and wasn't teal in color. I told her that I was looking for the Piccadilly brand. The response I received was basically that the website says a store has something when the store actually doesn't have it. What's the point of having a website where you can find this information and even reserve products, if the store isn't guaranteed to have the products? I was bummed out, especially after driving out there to find the journal. I settled for another journal. I will say that the store seemed to be a bit messy, and no employees asked if I needed help finding anything. I had to approach the employee at the register. I don't know if I'll return to Books A Million or not. The selection of non-book goods (pop culture, gifts, et cetera) is sufficient, for anyone who may be interested in that sort of stuff. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend unless this is the closest bookstore. Thanks for reading my review! read more

Great store for me as I work close by and love to spend my lunch breaks here, where I don't get the prententious vibe I would at a Borders or Barnes and Noble. I've turned into a big graphic novel guy lately and they have a superb selection. If they don't have it, then they offer to get it. The staff is very helpful but they do not hover. I wish they didn't ask me EVERY time if I want to join the discount club but I get it: "the Man" wants them to be asking. So...if "the Man" is reading this tell your people to chill on the discount club routine. read more

This Books A Million's cafe has horrible service. I stood at the checkout line for ten minutes. I turned around and saw two employees staring at me from the front counter, not doing anything, clearly seeing that I needed help. Later on, a woman came up and they ran over to help her. That was the only customer they helped though in the span of an hour. As I sat there working, they lost a total of 5 paying customers all because they didn't have someone at the counter. read more

Went to Books-A-Million today to exchange a 2017 daily calendar I had received as a Christmas gift for a different one. Walked in, went to the counter and told the girl what I was wanting to do. Told her I thought my friend had purchased it at their store. She walked me back to the where all the choices were and she left. I looked around and finally made my choice. Went back up front to exchange and the girl called a girl over to assist with a return/exchange and the girl pushed buttons on the computer and then said "you have your receipt"?. I said "no, it was a gift". She said "we don't accept returns without a receipt". She was unfriendly and a little rude. I said "not even for an exchange" and she said "No" and turned around. You would have thought the girl who walked me back to show me where the calendars were would have told me the return policy before I wasted my time. Instead I searched and shopped for the right calendar for me, waited in line to check out just to be told can't do. Sometimes someone doesn't give you the perfect gift at Christmas time and you want to switch it out. Wasn't asking for money back, was asking to exchange. It was a 2017 daily calendar, wasn't like I had read it and was trying to pull a fast one, I just wanted a calendar more to my liking. I have been to this store several times over the years buying books required by my daughters school. There are other stores that have friendly return policies, I will give them by business vs BAM. read more
