I took some bright colored and heavy embroidered/accessorized Indian clothes to be dry cleaned. The lady at the reception was very nice in explaining how they will clean the garments and how they will make sure the accessories or embroidery are not damaged. They took about a week to dry clean my garments and I was in no rush. The pricing was at-par with some other dry cleaners I have been to with my Indian clothes. I also went another time with my daughter's clothes for dry cleaning and they were very nice to say that dry cleaning is not going to help some of the clothes and would also be expensive and gave me suggestions to try at home to clean those garments which I thought was very nice of them. I'm going to go again, this time for alterations. Really happy I found this place! read more

There is no such thing as a "cheap" dry cleaner. If you find one, they probably aren't worth your clothes, unless your suits come from Goodwill. The nice lady at Downtown Cleaners is very friendly, the work is always done when promised, and is always done right. I've also had a couple of buttons replaced on items and they were done perfectly. Not huge alterations, obviously, but that's my experience. Yes, they're all expensive. Get used to it. But if they do it right, you're paying for quality. read more

I am a big fan of coming here for alterations. The staff is friendly, they are willing to work with you on rush alterations, and they do a great job--no dangling threads, loose seams, or other signs of shoddy workmanship. The prices are also reasonable. I had a regular bridesmaid dress altered to fit my pregnant body, and it cost me under $100. I think this may qualify as a miracle in some places. I had my wedding dress cleaned here, and they did a fine job with that as well. Plus, I saved a bundle over using a service through a chain bridal store. The changing room--and there is only one--is a little small and has no mirror. I haven't encountered a wait for it, and there is a mirror right outside it, so it isn't that big a deal. Still, you'd better check to make sure your skirt isn't tucked into your panty hose BEFORE you walk out of there! Also worth noting: sometimes they pin the clothes right to the hanger. Other times, they use the little clips that don't damage fabric. If you are anti-pins, tell them when you drop off the clothes. I haven't had them use pins when I asked them not to, although sometimes you think it would be nice not to have to ask. read more

Downtown Cleaners comes to the rescue again! Due to covid I haven't been working out as usual and gained some extra weight resulting in all of my dress pants being way too tight. Annoyed by many stores being closed and spending tons of money on shipping charges to buy new pants and then shipping them back when none fit right, I've had it with not being able to try things on at the store and instead of spending a fortune on new pants, I asked them if the tailor could do something to add some room to the pants I already had, and they did!!! They did an amazing job and the pants fit me perfectly now!! I couldn't be any happier with this place!! They saved me hundreds of dollars and lots of time!! read more

I just moved into the area, and this place is a walking distance from my condo. The lady that runs this place is super friendly and never gives me any trouble about wanting to pick up my clothes the next day. Oh, and she actually speaks English, which is a plus ;). She even let's me pick up my cleaned clothes after they close, as I don't get home before 7PM. Overall, I am as satisfied as one could possibly be with a Dry Cleaner. Typically a person brings in an item to a dry cleaner so that it comes out looking the same, if not better, than it did originally. I don't have many clothes that you can't throw in a washer and dryer, so when I have to shell out money for someone else to clean a simple shirt then I expect quality. Don't get me wrong. The cleaning itself was spectacular and the prices aren't bad either; however, I was completely shocked when I got home to find that my skirts had been PINNED to the hangers. Yes, SAFETY PINS were used to GOUGE my otherwise flawless dress skirts. I've never seen another cleaner do this. Most have those clasps that can be removed and at the very most leave a little indentation that quickly fades. You can't undo holes. Shame. Will I give this place another try? Yes. In fact, I'm in desperate need of some dry cleaning this week and it's extremely close. Hopefully they will end up with more stars. read more

I usually wouldn't bother giving reviews on laundry, but I've used place for 2-3 years and have been consistently satisfied. One morning I pushed my luck and went there at 7 (opening time) needing to catch a train across the street at 7.11, giving me about a 5 minute window. Why risk missing my train or going to work with laundry? But at 7.00 sharp the cleaners was open and I was out by 7.03. That's professionalism! read more

Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars. Went last Sat to get two pants altered around 4inches off the bottom (they were a thin flowy material). Lady told me to pick them up Thur after 4. On Thur I got there around 5pm and they told me they weren't ready, that they would work on them that afternoon and they would be ready by the next day, I said alright that I'd pick them up by 1pm on Fri. I ended up arriving at 12:30 and they told me they still weren't ready. The lady said "you said you'd pick them up at 1.. if you can come back after 1 they will be ready" I took the pants as they were and left. A HUGE waste of time, clearly they didn't care to have them done in time. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

Disappointing that I don't have the option to give 0 star's. I've been to this cleaners twice. The first time, I had a dress altered. There wasn't that much work to do yet the cost of repair would say otherwise. I can't remember the exact amount but what I remember was how high the price was for the work it needed. I decided to give them another shot since they did a decent job the first time. I needed repairs on a romper. One of the spaghetti straps was completely detached and the other was halfway sown on. Literally, all it needed was a little stitching to attach the strings onto the romper. Maybe a 5-10 minute job and, at most, 6 inches of thread. They charged $8 to sow on a string!?! I thought to myself, "I'll let them fix it and just never go back." I hardly ever go to the cleaners so maybe this is what most cleaners charge but the cleaners I used to go to, White Cleaners on Harlem Ave, this would've cost $3. I always left content and not taken advantage of. Maybe I was spoiled and now I'm seeing the reality of over-priced cleaners. Nonetheless, I left my romper for them to repair. I told the lady (who appears to be the owner) that I needed this done by Thursday. I figured since it was such a simple job that there'd be no issue. She confirmed pickup for Thursday and that was that. I came in, Thursday, to pick up my romper. I gave her my name and told her what I was picking up. She looked confused. I thought to myself, "she lost my romper!". She did not. After nervously fumbling through the rack she located what should've been my fully repaired romper that only needed a few stitches. It was EXACTLY as I had left it a few days prior. String still detached and safety pins where what should've been thread. I expressed the urgency of it being ready by Thursday because my daughter had plans of wearing it to school on Friday. This mistake should've never happened. The lack of regard she had for my request, as well as, her services being overpriced were nothing short of disappointing. She apologized, as she should, but it doesn't justify the circumstance. I should've went with my gut as to not return after the first visit. Needless to say, lesson learned and she will not receive business or recommendations from me. read more

Did a great job of getting the chapstick out of my shirts (remember to take chapstick out of your pants before drying). The woman working there was very nice and easy to communicate with, though I only mention it because it is sometimes an issue at other places. I'm new to the area & had to find a dry cleaner urgently that could help me repair a pair of jeans that had gotten hair dye on them during my hair appointment earlier that day. I called the shop and the woman I spoke with was perfectly honest and told me it would be highly unlikely she could get the dye out. With little alternative I decided to ask if she would take a chance and try. I would have lost the jeans anyway. She agreed. I brought the jeans in immediately along with two other items, a jacket and a pair of linen pants, for regular dry cleaning. I told her I would pay her either way for the jeans & if she was able to get out the dye I would tip her extra. I came back a couple days later and was pleasantly surprised to see she had worked a miracle and gotten the dye out of my jeans. The other items that were there for regular dry cleaning were done well too. When I tried to tip her for her miraculous success with the jeans, she kindly refused and said there was no need, she had just done her job. I highly recommend Downtown Cleaners. They are honest, skilled, and fairly priced. And, if you're lucky, they may just be able to perform a miracle for you too! read more

I have had nothing but wonderful service from this dry cleaners. I bought a dress on Saturday morning for a wedding, but I needed a few things altered about the dress. They had it ready at 2pm so I could make to to the ceremony on time, and they didn't rip me off.
