I came for a last minute dry cleaning need and they not only did a superb job within hours to meet my needs, but treated me like a valued customer and offered their other services and introduced me to the whole Glad Cleaners family. If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. There are hundreds of Dry cleaners in Chicago. There is one on just about every corner. So what sets this place apart? It's the people. Everybody from the owner to his staff are wonderful to deal with. They have a wonderful tailor on site who has done some terrific work on my suits. My wife and I have had one issue in the years we have been using Glad Cleaners. They lost one of her expensive comforters, after busting their butts to find it, they did the right thing and paid to replace it. Not only did they cover the costs of the comforter, they included a gift certificate for future dry cleanings. If you live in the Edgebrook are, I would highly recommend that you give Glad Cleaners a try. They do a wonderful job on your clothes and you will be treated like family on every visit. read more

Now THIS is where I bring my cherished garments!! Glad Cleaners is an old faithful, neighborhood, "tried and true", family run, American, business. Are they a little pricey? Yes. Will they treat your special clothing like it's theirs? Yes! Can you bring a dress/suit/coat that you paid a small mint for and not worry? Most definitely Yes!!! My and my daughter's wedding dresses have been cleaned and mended PERFECTLY from Glad. Not to mention EVERY Prom dress (i do have three daughters you know!) were perfectly returned. They can accommodate special orders leathers, linens. etc. There are a few parking spaces out front and they have a small lot in the back. Great job every time! read more

So, last spring I sent in my down comforter for its yearly cleaning. I picked it up once it was done and went to store it in my under-the-bed bin. I then noticed that what they had given me was not my comforter. This comforter was thin, cheap, and covered with purple ink stains. I brought it back. Rob, the owner, was very apologetic, saying that there had been a mix up with a few other clients and he would try to find mine. Time goes by. I get a call every now and then saying he found another comforter for me to look at. Each time it was not mine. I start to get worried. This was the highest quality down comforter The Great Indoors sold back when I worked there and it took me forever to save up for it. I start thinking, well, if purple stain person got mine instead of theirs, it was a massive upgrade on their part and they most likely weren't going to give it back. *sobs* But on my last trip there, he tells me to bring in some information about a replacement. I do a thorough search and finally find the closest thing from Bed, Bath and Beyond's website. Not only does he reimburse me for the comforter, he also gives me a gift certificate! Awesome! Since I don't live over in that area any more I had planned on finding another dry cleaner to use. However, after being treated so well from Glad I will definitely drive out of my way to keep using them! They owned up to their mistake and made it right. How many businesses do you know you can say that about? And were nice about it to boot! read more

Fast service and the clothes come out great! No lost buttons or anything at this place. Prices are a bit steep but well worth it. Great local joint to keep the money in the neighborhood. Not a great deal of parking available so you may have to park on the street somewhere. read more

Good dry cleaner - no so great for tailoring I'm giving Glad a 4 star rating based on their dry cleaning, not their tailoring. More on that in a second. They are a good dry cleaning business. I've had no issues taking my garments there to be dry cleaned, and I will continue to do so in the future. On that I can recommend them. Their tailor however we've had less luck with. My wife had a pair of lined pants that she wanted to have re-lined. It took a long time for the work to be done, a couple of weeks, and when it was completed the work was poor. One of the liners in the leg was longer than the pant itself and was visible. To their credit Glad had the work repaired right away, but a couple weeks later and the threads are breaking. Maybe it's just our rotten luck, but I think we're going to look for another tailor when the need arises. But like I said, we'll be going back for our dry cleaning needs. read more

Rob and his staff have saved my but more than once. My wife and I get called into last minute meetings and events all the time and it seems to always happen right after I just dropped everything off at Glad. So I have to call them and ask to get my clothes sooner than the ticket says. I'm always prepared to beg, I am, because I'm causing them a problem. But I never have to Rob and Dawn and the rest are always happy to move my stuff forward. They've repaired ripped seams, cleaned my rugs, cleaned my leather jackets, pressed my shirts, and put a cuff on a pair of pants. They've removed stains and dealt with an unholy assemblage of pocket garbage and loose change that always comes attached in a little baggie. They're just damn good. read more

Due to my own poor planning, I failed to get a dress shirt pressed in time for a wedding this past weekend. I reached out to Glad Cleaners last minute Saturday hoping for a small miracle, and was told to come in with the shirt and they'd find a way to squeeze me in. I showed up and the friendly staff immediately took my shirt, pressed it to perfection, and I was out the door within 15 mins! This kind of customer service is nothing short of amazing. I have no clue how they managed to make my suit look better than the day I bought it. I've had suits done at other places in the past and the one thing o noticed was the inside was just okay. Glad left no creases or wrinkles in mine. Same goes for all the shirts I've brought in. Simply put I won't let anyone else near my stuff. They are great at what they do. read more

GLAD CLEANERS IS NOT RECOMMENDED! I was an existing customer and I brought my formal handmade / hand stitched drapes in for dry cleaning. When the drapes were returned they had been damaged extensively! I spoke with the owner (what a piece of work!) which at first was apologetic, He informed me that he had the best tailor and he felt that she could repair the drapes but needed time to do so. After waiting 3 months and many phone messages not returned. I was told the drapes were repaired & ready to be picked up. After looking over the so-called "repaired drapes" the owner reluctantly admitted that the drapes were irreparable and offered to replace them. Once I left Glad Cleaners the owner NEVER returned my calls again! He did nothing to rectify the problem! I had no other choice but to pursue legal action. He and his staff lied in court to the point that the judge did not believe them and ruled against Glad Cleaners. People make mistakes and accidents happen in life. When this happens the person at fault should do the right thing to rectify the situation. This is NOT the case with Glad Cleaners! I would not recommend them with any item of meaning or value. read more

I had bad experience with this place on several different occasions. Mainly with broken or damaged buttons on my shirts and cardigans. They know when it happens and will replace broken buttons with new ones (which don't match very much), but don't even tell you about it. Imagine my frustration, when I am dressing to go out, pull out the cardigan I was going to wear from the dry cleaner's bag and it comes out with mismatched buttons!!! After I brought it up with the owner, he offered to reimburse me for new set of buttons and replaced them free of charge. However, I still had to deal with hassle of shopping for them and making sure they would go with the garment. The owner claimed that companies use cheap buttons and that is the reason they fall apart. I don't believe that, since damaged items were from JCrew, Banana Republic and Hugo Boss. Different companies, somewhat high end quality. After few bad experiences I stopped going there, but my husband used them to dry clean his dress shirts. Needless to say, few weeks later he pulled one out to wear and got a nice surprise of mismatched buttons. We are definitely not going back. I am surprised they are still in business. If this happened to me so many times, I am sure there are more unhappy customers out there. read more
