Great prices, (lowest around, trust me! I shopped around) very nice & knowledgeable employees, and the clothes smell fresh when you get them. (unlike other places in Evanston I've tried). I'm so glad I finally found a place I can trust! Also I noticed the people who complained have no friends and only have one review. Hhhmmmmmm seems suspicious. Glad I ignored them lol read more

Such a great cleaners! The staff is so nice and the service is great. I've taken all sorts of clothing items here and they've turned out great. Plus if you pay with cash it's cheaper! My favorite cleaners in downtown Evanston by far. read more

Happy to see Oak Cleaners is open regularly again. I have been going to Oak Cleaners for a few years - the service is quick, reasonable, and items well cleaned. A few months ago, I asked if a handmade, fragile item could be repaired. After investigating, Dan provided me several options and explained the outcome/risks with each option so that I could make an informed decision. I so appreciated the advice and time since the item has great sentimental value to me. read more

I love the people here and the work that they do! Esther is one of the sweetest ladies on the planet, and her son is always a pleasure to chat with when I come in here to drop off and pick up laundry a few times a week. Work shirts and pants always come back clean and pressed. Dry-clean only sweaters are draped over pant-hangers so they don't stretch. They've fixed zippers on coats before, and I always drop off my jeans here when I need them shortened (which is all the time - why is everyone so tall?!) Once, the driver was late to drop off some clothes to the store, and OC were nice enough to offer to bring the dry cleaning to my place (around the corner). Completely unnecessary since it takes me 30 seconds to walk here, but it was such a nice gesture on their part! I haven't been going to the dry cleaners multiple times a week before, but the pricing seems quite decent to me. $1.25/shirt is much better than me having to wash and iron (I *loathe* ironing). A wonderful option in the neighborhood if you need things dry cleaned. read more

This has to be one the best cleaners around, always courteous and professional, making sure you are always satisfied is clearly their commitment. You can always count on having your dry cleaning ready before even expected. You can always count on knowing that your clothing is being treated as if it was their own. The biggest part that really gained my loyalty was that the owner is one of the coolest guys I've ever met, going above and beyond to make sure his customers are always satisfied, he'll even go as far as to deliver your dry cleaning of you're close by at work and can't make it afterwards. This place is GREAT!!!! Your loyal customer read more

This is my favorite cleaner and tailor. I called yesterday and they were about to close. Dan said he would be in today (they are usually closed on sundays) which is REALLY nice and which he did not have to do. The tailoring is superb and prices and reasonable. read more

I love the workers here! I brought a pair of shorts that I had stained with fruit juice with my stupid clumsy hands. It was probably not savable but I decided to give it a try with dry cleaning. The lady working at the time saw the stains and warned me that it will probably not come out. I decided to go ahead since I was going to trash the shorts anyways. When I came back to pick up my shorts the lady working there felt bad that she could not remove the stains. She also told me that she tried 3 times with no luck. She apologized and I had to apologize back of course. The extra effort they took on my cheap pair of shorts was beyond standard customer service. I am out a pair of shorts (stupid juice!) but I would definitely use this cleaners again for all my other clothes. read more

Have had some basic alterations and dry cleaning here and have had nothing but positive experiences. Employees are very friendly and I've been happy with the quality of my clothes afterwards. Would recommend! read more

I've been here a few times since switching away from the other cleaners in the neighborhood. I enjoyed the service and didn't have any problems, until today. I dropped off my tuxedo on Monday for pickup today. I said to the lady, how much will this be, as I like to bring cash. she replied $23.85 and wrote it on her copy of my ticket. I went in, and just as I got through the door, a cell phone went off and she made a mad dash for it, telling me hurriedly "just a moment", 5 minutes later she came to me and I pointed at my tux and said I was here for pickup. She started mumbling about it being afternoon, and then went back to her phone a moment. When she returned, I asked if it was ready, and she said "yes", and then bagged it up and looked at the ticket that said $23.85 and said "$28.85" and I went "it's $28.85 now?" and she said yes. But I looked and that 3 next to that 8 were very distinguishable. I looked at her. She went back to her phone, then came back. I handed her 2 $20s. I got $11.15 in change. I decided that I'm no longer a customer there, $5 parting fee. She also made me late to work with all her personal phone business. read more

This is an excellent place to get your suits washed. And really, there aren't that many cleaners near Northwestern's campus, so competition is difficult to identify. It's small and conveniently located across the street from the big post office. read more

Oak Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - Evanston, Illinois

See all

I've been here twice for dry cleaning and tailoring services and have had always had consistently good experiences, my items always clean and pressed. They are friendly, fairly quick, and have good prices ($4-5 for most items like pants, shirts and blazers) and have never messed up an order (knock on wood). They do offer a WildCard discount (10% off dry cleaning over $10) so don't forget to show that if you are a NU student! read more

I've visited Oak Cleaners a few times since my favorite cleaners in Evanston closed, and they've done a decent job with my blankets and clothes. Nothing exceptional, prices are as expected, and nothing terrible, and I will go back. read more

Professional, friendly staff. Great prices and they do a fantastic job. I have sensitive skin and nothing they use breaks me out or causes me to feel itchy/dried out like a lot of chemicals dry cleaners use do. Adequate parking for the area. They work quickly here and have great hours (sometimes hard to find services open outside of normal 9-5 hours) read more

During the Covid 19 crisis, Dan, the young owner, came to my house to pick up some wool items that needed their annual cleaning. One is a very large, handmade, wool quilt, a family treasure. He handled this last year for me and did a beautiful job. Furthermore, Dan is just as nice and friendly as can be. His prices are reasonable and I think it's a great place to bring your business! read more

So far they haven't done me wrong. They are on time, friendly and their prices are comparable to other cleaners. It's super close to where I live which obviously makes this place my first pick. They do have alteration service as well, but I have yet to use that service. I've had them tighten some of my coat buttons, but that is all. read more

I've been here twice. Depending on the material, they charge $10-$15 per winter coat or vest. This is reasonable for the quality (i.e. laundry becomes odor- and stain-free) and efficiency (2-day turnaround) of their work. Pick up time is flexible, but they do charge a late fee of $2.50 if you leave your laundry there for over a week from the set pick-up date. 10% discount with Wildcard for dry cleaning orders of over $10. read more

I've tried the Noyes St cleaners and I've tried that place by Kafein, but this place is the only one where my clothes actually smell fresh after being cleaned, like new car smell, but for clothes. Even though I won't live as close this coming year, I will definitely still take my clothes here. read more

DO NOT DO any TAILORING with them. Upon arrival, he said to me and my friend that he does not know exactly the price, and he will call us back for the price. Me and my friend wanted to shorten and taper Jeans. After one week passed, he did not call at all and we were wondering what happened and decided to call him back. He picked up and when we asked for the price he evaded the topic and said that he is going somewhere else, and will call back again. When we finally went to check on directly to the shop, he said it is ready, and the cost for ONE SIDE OF THE JEANS IS 15 dollars. so i ended up PAYING ONE JEANS FOR 35 dollars. WHAT A RIP OFF..... beware doing business with them. read more

I've had my dry cleaning done here for over a year, and each time I have the best experience! The staff are so friendly (I've had a lot of great chats with Dan), helpful, and timely. They work with your schedule, are fairly priced, and I highly recommend them! read more

I took a lot of clothes here for dry cleaning, and I left very IMPRESSED. Did I say VERY IMPRESSED? Yes I did! I had a lot of dress shirts for laundry and the prices are hard to beat. My clothes were done on time within a few days and all came out perfect. If you are looking for a reasonably priced Dry cleaning business, look no further. The store is a on the street corner located just by itself without other business, so this makes them not too hard to find. Because of the large business I brought for them, the lady business owner was kind and gave me 10% off my dress shirt cleaning. Their rates for big coats and sweaters/sport coats are just a little bit high, but then, you will not find another dry cleaner that offers the same rates on the regular dress shirts and pants. This way you come come out even on top. I had several sweaters for dry cleaning when I came here. Initially, I had thought of not having them clean the sweaters but when I saw the prices for the dress shirts (I know, said it too many times) as well as a kind discount the lady offered me because of the large volume of clothes I had, I was sold. Oh, and they are friendly as well. This is a good dry cleaning business. Look no further! For the amount of money you pay, no one else comes close. read more

I have never experienced anything but courteous treatment from the owner and they do a good job at dry cleaning. HOWEVER, I witnessed him being extremely rude to an elderly black man - it was completely disrespectful and unnecessary. I won't be going back. read more

The employees or owner are very rude here. I ended up arguing with them for a long period do to a dry cleaning that was promised to be ready on the same day but didn't receive it till the next day read more

I love the location of this dry cleaners and had high hopes for it because I need one in the area but I was disappointed and a little shocked. I left my sweater there for 2 weeks and 2 days. Work schedule has been crazy. When I went in to pick the sweaters up the woman looked at me then marked through the price on the receipt and added $2.50. "late fee" ??? I tried to give this the benefit of the doubt but when I got home and opened my sweaters my cashmere sweater was covered in little white fur balls. It looks like they put it in with something white and never cleaned it off my sweater. The sweater smells clean but beyond that the experience was bad! I have to have the sweater cleaned somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, read more

I'm giving them two stars because I've had some wool items done there and they came out fine. This second (and last) experience is what makes my rating low. I left a blazer that I borrowed from a friend to be cleaned on Monday and picked up on Friday. After leaving the place, I noticed that the black coloring on the buttons had been scraped off. Naturally, I went back to show them the damage and to ask for at least a partial refund (because now I have to buy new buttons and have them sewn on). The woman at the counter said, first, that it must have already been like that, because they cover the buttons in aluminum foil to prevent damage. I assured her that they hadn't been damaged (and to that extent!), because I would have never worn this blazer to an interview if that had been the case. She then said that it was a "button problem" because they were of poor quality (which I would not say of White House Black Market), and that I should go "complain to the store" where I bought it from. She offered to sew new buttons on if I bought them (!), but by that time I wanted nothing more to do with this dry cleaner. That was a terrible way handling of a customer problem. I will not be back. read more

How has this place not been reviewed in five years? They did everything right! They were very friendly and able to get quite a few items done in two days. It wasn't too expensive, either. read more

I took all 18 of my jackets to this cleaners and I could not have been more pleased with the results! At my recommendation, my husband took in his three suits. The cuff on pants for one suit had a ripped hem. They fixed it perfectly and you cannot even tell that the cuff was ripped! And in response to the one posting about being rude to an African-American customer, my husband is also African-American, and they were wonderful with him. Believe me, if they had shown any racist tendencies, my husband would have picked up on it immediately. read more

Excellent cleaners. Very professional, very prompt, and very reasonable. Compared to other local cleaners, this is by far the most trustworthy and reliable for me. This is the only place I go regularly in Evanston to get any dry cleaning done. read more

awful...i'd give zero stars if i could! they ruined two of my husband's shirts - came back with two perfect neon yellow squares in the middle of the chest, when we complained they said they must have already been there...right, 2 perfect yellow squares that we never noticed... then this past week (about 6 months after the shirt incident) my husband needed a suit steamed and rather than drive out to our new dry cleaners (Zenglers - love them!) we decided "how could oak street mess up steaming a suit?" BIG MISTAKE came back all bubbled - they must have pressed it and not steamed it...again they said it must have been like that! for a $1000 suit we're tempted to go to small claims court! very very unhappy - would NEVER recommend them! read more
