I had been going to Kim's Cleaners every 2-3 months for a couple years. I should have known from the first time I used them, when they had to deliver my clothes to my home because they missed a promised deadline, that this place is not to be trusted. I work in tech and wear casual clothes 99% of the time, and typically only dry clean my suits and shirts for rare special occasions and job interviews. Earlier this year I was unemployed for 5+ months and was doing a lot of job interviews, only wearing my suit for a couple hours at most. Around the time the interviews started, my wife was picking up a couple suits and shirts. Mrs. Kim said everything was ready except for one shirt due to a stain that didn't come out, and the stained shirt would be ready sometime within the next week. After picking up the shirt later on, I noticed a strange yellow chemical looking stain on the back left shoulder, something I definitely did not cause as I was only wearing the suit for a couple hours at a time and did not take the suit jacket off. I took the shirt back to Kim's several times and they were unable to get the stain out. This was a $100 shirt and I was not very happy about it. When I complained and demanded they reimburse me some amount for ruining the shirt, Mr. and Mrs. Kim spun a narrative that I had waited too long to complain, and this is a 'dollar business' and they can't be responsible for my clothes. They even showed me all the times I had been there on the computer, noting a gap between some of the times. What conveniently didn't show up in the computer was two of the times they had tried removing the stain, times which I had slips for but was not in the computer (something I realized after my final confrontation with them). After a long argument they offered me a $50 credit for dry cleaning. This is completely useless to me as it's a liability to use their service as it may ruin more of my clothing. I highly recommend you stay away from Kim's Cleaners as they do not stand behind their work. read more

This is my go to place for alterations and cleaning! Even though I've moved away I will drive or take the purple line train to Evanston for my alterations. I have taken dresses with very delicate fabric (multiple layers) that I was concerned about getting altered and she made it look better than the original dress. Alterations are done fast and done within the time frame that you want it. It was a reasonable price which you can't beat since I've been through bad alterations at other places before. read more

I switched to Kim's Cleaners after having an issue with a "low cost" cleaner. They have been excellent. Very friendly (after a few visits they will remember your name) and everything has been cleaned properly and completed on time -- no damage or anything lost. They can do rush service if requested. Kim's Cleaners stated they would try their best to get the glue on my dress shirt that happens to be made of 100% polyester. I wasn't expecting much because gorilla glue and clothing tend not to mix well when you actually want to wear the shirt, instead of using it as a rag. When I picked up my shirt two days later, I noticed they were able to get all the gorilla glue off, and the shirt looked brand new. I must admit, I was impressed at how they were able to get hardened gorilla glue off the shirt, and all for the cost of a five dollar latte. I brought in my bridesmaid dress on Monday for a Friday pickup and she said that it's not a problem and that she'd get it done by Friday morning, even though it would be really tight on her schedule. I've brought cocktail dresses, dress pants, and sweaters here, and I've gotten my clothes back clean and undamaged every time. Turnaround time is about a week for regular cleaning, and rush orders are available for an extra charge. Prices are reasonable and service is great. read more

Kim is my lady! I trust her with all of my suits and clothes. She does a great job cleaning and fixing my items. Usually I have time and I'll tell her she can take her time with my clothes but every time I asked to pick everything up early Kim delivered! This place ruined my wife's wedding dress and pushed back on giving us a refund. They had it for months, telling us they were working on it. In the end, we found they had it machine pressed instead of hand pressing, which caused it to come apart and left a few brown burn marks. They even wanted to keep the dress when we asked for a refund! We finally got a refund and the damaged dress, but only after arguing and tears. read more

Don't use this cleaners. I just moved to Evanston and brought 4 items to Kim's Cleaners - my favorite pants, sweater, skirt and a jacket. Everything shrunk. Ruined. The jacket looked 2 sizes too small and I could not even button the sweater. They obviously washed the clothes and did not dry clean. I brought the clothes back to show them. The man at the counter treated me like I was lieing - I even tried on the jacket and sweater to show him and he just looked at me shaking his head saying we dry clean we dry clean. He did not offer me any compensation for my clothes, not even my money back for what I paid for dry cleaning. He was rude unprofessional and what happened to the customer is always right? Benefit of the doubt? I don't dry clean items I don't care about. VERY frustrating!! read more

I'm so impressed with this cleaners. I've only used them once, but it was for my wedding dress and they did a perfect job. I brought my dress in a few months after my wedding, with a cocktail stain down the front and a filthy hem, and they warned me that might not be able to get the stain out. They knew it was my wedding dress but didn't charge a premium for that- I paid less than $30 (compared to hundreds for wedding dress cleaning/preservation at other dry cleaners). When I got it back it was completely clean and undamaged. I can't vouch for more complicated dresses (mine was plain crepe, no decoration) and I didn't get it archivally preserved or anything, but I took a gamble on a well-reviewed cleaner and it was an absolute success. read more
