A classic! I was first drawn to this place by the sign. Happy to report, they do a great job- and you should go here- Maybe they can update the message on their sign, it is a classic sign, and some paint for the outside carport- Love the look though. read more

The lady here is shady and sneaky. Almost grimy. She has always been very slow in completing any tailoring and I can deal with that. So I always allow extra time for pick up. But this last time I took 2 shirts for some alterations and the pick up was two weeks. I come back a month later and she has not even started with my shirts. I needed the shirts for an event. So I had to go buy new shirts to wear. I come back a month later to pick up the shirts and she brings 2 others shirts saying they were also mine. I tell her they are not mine. I go to pay for the two shirts I was picking up and the total cost was very expensive. When I ask for a break down she tells me she didn't charge full price because of the delay. Come to find out she charged me for the shirts that I specifically told her were not mine. She blindly charged me for shirts that were not mine. I feel robbed. I will never come back. This business is shady and dishonest. read more

Very very rude owner tried to hide my ties under the jacket, when I checked how they look and I saw a damaged silk fabric and wholes from overheat iron he got so loud and defensive. He said I ruined them because tie moves and jacket scratched the fabric that's why holes are there. How ridiculous unprofessional and immature is that . He even charged me for it. read more

Terrible, terrible service. The man that runs it is down right mean and rude. Had a similar experience as the Tim F. review. They ruined a fur collar coat in Sept '23. He said he'd replace the fur collar no charge (obviously that is the right thing) and to give him time to find a fur (when I know the old fur vault there has plenty). Over the next 5 MONTHS I went in 3-4 times to check on the progress. All conversations were cordial. Around the third time he finally brought out some furs from the vault (I figured he had them all along) to select from. We settled on one and he told me he'd send it out to be done. Checked back again another month, still not done. Came in again and the wife explains to me that he (her husband) wants to use her old sentimental fur coat instead of what I selected. I told her oh no, I don't want you to do that. We looked at the fur I had selected and I told her this would be fine. She was relieved and said she would call me when it was done. She called me in three days (I also suspected he didn't need to send it out to be done as he had stated) that it was ready. Well when I came in he was MAD, very rough talking with me, "you don't like this, too bad". I looked at the wife because I could see he used her sentimental coat to replace my collar! I said I didn't want you to use your fur coat. She looked sad and nervous. Again he gets angrier and shouting "you don't like, you don't take it then." I'm holding the coat at that point and he goes to grab it from me and says "you pay now"! I said I'm not paying you for fixing my coat you ruined 5 months ago! He continues to come at me and grabbing at the coat and ME! Needless to say I called the police! He is unhinged and needs to retire. I am worried that she is taking the brunt of this matter. The store is a dirty disaster, literally old stuff and dirt and dead plants all over. Please be aware for your own safety. There are plenty of good cleaners nearby, use someone else! read more

Well I am never going here again. My suit was supposed to be ready by 5pm Saturday (today is Monday). I show up and there is one employee there, in the back cleaning. I rang the bell on 4 separate occasions, nothing. I called out to the man in the back, nothing. I then used my phone to call the cleaners which finally got him to acknowledge I was there. I ask for my suit and wait another 5 minutes for him to prepare it (should have been prepared by 5pm sat). I then pay for the service, and sign the receipt. The man then starts demanding that I sign a random notebook as well. I couldn't understand why, and this is when he snatched my suit from me. AFTER I PAID. so I go back to my car to get my ticket so I can get the suit that was just paid for and stolen back from me. The owner proceeds to tell me to fuck off and call me crazy. Incredible customer service, wow. read more

Dropped of a jacket of mine that I wear daily. I can't just machine wash it cause it says to be dry cleaned. I paid 19 bucks for my jacket to be cleans for it not to be. My jacket stinks and that's what I ask to be cleaned! Than when I asked him if he could clean it since I paid he said it is clean and to take it somewhere else very rude after he smelt my jacket lmfao. Horrible place wouldn't recommend it. Most place would at least offer to clean it again or give your money back. I don't understand why it's called a cleaner if you're not gonna clean anything smh. read more

Courteous, fast, and reasonably priced service. They were able to get my coat serviced within a couple days! Owned by a very friendly couple! read more

Very happy with their service. Place looks old and could use some fixing up but they do an incredible job with garments. They even repaired a garment that I had no idea was falling apart until they showed me. Have used them for alterations and it was perfect. It did take longer than was anticipated but I wasn't in any rush either. This place is very friendly and outgoing. I love dropping off my items. Close to home and reasonable prices. Extremely happy with Trim N Tidy Cleaners! read more

I really needed two suits cleaned and I had an early flight the next morning. I made it in by 11:00am and they had them cleaned and pressed by 5:00! Always great service. read more

They did an awesome job on my daughter s leather jackets. The price was very reasonable compared to the other places we got quoted from. Paul the owner was great! Customer service was outstanding. He gave details on how leather was cleaned and if it was worth cleaning. My daughter bought those jackets at a thrift store for 5 dollars now that it's professionally cleaned it's looks brand new. This will now be our go to dry cleaners. Thanks Paul and Family read more

This place is great. I don't usually take my dry cleaning here but I did this past Friday. I needed to attend a wake the same day and my dark suit needed cleaning. Anyway, I brought it here in the morning and picked it up at 5...$9. They really came through for me. read more

Everyone is extremely friendly and always gets the clothes done quick. I highly recommend Trim N Tidy !

You've heard people use the phrase, "It's like stepping back in time!" when they describe certain businesses. Most often these places are simply "retro", or at best retain an element or two of historical significance. I hear people say that about Potbelly's and places like that. Most of these places are manufactured retro and marketed as such. And then you have places that truly are blasts from the past. Then you have Trim N Tidy Cleaners. I'll get my actual review over with early since that's what Yelp is all about. This place is a great place to have your suit cleaned and pressed, as well as all of your other pertinent items of clothing. Service is very fast and dependable and very affordable. The woman who works there is super kind and accommodating. I highly recommend this business. Now for my description of the place itself - holy cow. What first catches your eye is the huge neon sign out front. Totally untouched 1950's vintage. On the inside, the first thing you'll notice is the smell of "old" - sort of a pungent moldy-dusty-clothesy-kind of smell. EVERYTHING is original to when the building was built over 60 years ago. It seems as though nothing has been moved or replaced. The floor details, the wall designs, the old, dusty, stainless steel cash registers - I have died and gone to heaven. Adding to the overwhelming sense of indifference are the scores of huge potted plants - some clearly have been dead for a long time. Need to take a load off? Take a seat on one of several decades-old couches that haven't been cleaned in about as long as they've been there - a notable clash between the impeccable clothing behind the counter. The couches are water stained since they rest right up against the window and absorb all that lovely winter condensation. You'll also find random huge broken bags of topsoil, old broken light fixtures, and other things that are guaranteed to give you tetanus. It is an extremely disorganized, surreal place - but strangely comfortable. The great service and friendly people will keep me coming back. All the other stuff is just icing on the cake. read more

This place is terrible. Terrible service. I miss my old dry cleaners that I use to go to. I moved away and I'm forced to go here. It's really expensive and you get scolded for wanting items sooner. They charge for simply sowing a button. Something that can be done at no charge in exchange for my continued patronage. They don't care if you come back. Update: after doing some research I a waaaay better place. Its white star and It's on montrose and long. They actually take credit cards for less than 10 bucks. Prices don't fluctuate with every visit. They're slightly cheaper and my clothes was so neatly packed. They even clipped my sleeves in the middle. A huge plus is I don't have to deal with that annoying guy who curses up a storm and talks forever. Aesthetically, this place looks nice. At first I didn't care about that but now that I've been going to trim and tidy for a year it does reflect how they do business. Sloppy and don't care if you are happy with the service. read more

I remember as a kid my parents brought stuff to this cleaners. Granted it has changed ownership since then. But the building and location are memorable. Needless to say, they do an amazing job, have NEVER messed up any cleaning, which is more then I can say for some of the big name places in the city that all the lemming think are so great. Highly recommended. And I never thought the prices were that bad, comparable to other cleaners in the area that I had used previously. Also staff are extremely nice and friendly. read more

This dry cleaners is the worst that I have been to by far. Let's start off with the general appearance of the place, it looks like a rummage sale various furniture dead plants and thick layers of dust. I brought my suits to be cleaned and pressed. When I arrived on the scheduled day they were not ready I was told that they were in the machine and would be ready in half an hour I waited outside and watched the person behind the counter frantically looking for something it was my stuff as he pulled my suit from the bottom of a dirty clothes pile I go back in and they have it ready obviously not clean but they still charge me. Very shady and dishonest place. Stay away!!!! read more

Amazing! I ran in here at 2pm this afternoon with my Bears tshirt that needed to be stitched for tomorrow's game and the owner right away said she'll have it ready for me by 5pm because she knows tomorrow's an important day. She kept her word. Not only did she stitch the hole that was in one of the seams, but the shirt was nicely pressed and put in garment plastic and on a hangar. All for $4! I've lived in this neighborhood for 12 years and always passed by but never needed their services until now. So glad to have them literally 3 blocks away. I'll definitely be taking my cloths there for dry cleaning or any other issues like stitching, alterations. 5 stars hands down! read more

On the outside, this place looks like you should not go in. Don't be fooled! They are fast and do a great job. I needed a suit dry cleaned on the same day and they got it done. I will definitely go back! read more

Family run business and they work their tails off - since I see them there when I leave for work at 7:30 and still there when I drive by after 6 PM. High quality work, Sunny and her husband John and friendly and remember you (if forgetting your name for a second). Nothing but high quality work and I've been going there 3 years. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLEANERS! They ripped me off majory! They didn't clean my carpet (tag even said so--that it was still dirty!), but charged me a very HIGH rate (a lot more then usual, and MORE then the carpet is even worth!) and sent me on my way. When I got home and looked at the carpet, I called to tell them and said it wasn't cleaned and they said they WOULD not give me my money back! I suggest NO one go to this place. There are plenty of cleaners out there that are trustworthy, this is not one of them. Will never ever go back!! Save yourself the headache and go some where esle! read more

My family and I have been coming here since I was born. They have always done fantastic work and have bent over backwards to do rush jobs for me (i.e. a suit I needed that night for a wedding the following day). I have even gotten a call from them because I left my building pass for work in my shirt pocket. They are great and do quality work. I'd recommend them to anyone who lives in the area. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Promised a 5pm pickup. Showed up at 5. Told to come back at 545. Came back at 545. It is now 615 and I sit in my car at the suggestion of the clerk as I type this. Still. Waiting. Can't wait inside, no seating and the place is filthy and falling apart. Awful experience. I'm late for a family event (I need my clothes for this) as I sit here typing this. They are super friendly, very nice, I'm being polite as well, but there won't be a return trip for me. read more

I have been to many cleaners but this stands out not in a good way. First of all there service is terrible, I was waiting for about 45 minutes just to receive a suit I got for cleaning for a wedding. Horrible service, Would not recommend read more

Great place! I have been going to Trim and Tidy for the last 10 years. Clothes always ready on time, great customer service, and they do an excellent job removing stains. Prices are VERY fair. Don't let the old building or non-functioning door scare you. They are just minor hiccups to an overall well-run, family owned establishment. read more

Great people to work with. On site seamstress. Work with you on proper care of clothes. My suits came out tailored perfectly. I'd refer anyone here for dry cleaning and or tailoring. read more

One of the worst dry cleaner in Chicago area. They destroyed my clothes.I have to call cops to get my money back.....There are plenty of cleaners out there that are trustworthy, this is not one of them. Will never ever go back!! Save yourself the headache and go some where else! read more

This place is amazing, the family is so nice! They altered a bridesmaid dress in less than a week and did an amazing job! Keep up the great work! read more

First off the place is a DUMP. Front door doesn't open right. Dead plants everywhere. Should have walked out then. Needed clothes same day, was told they couldn't do it due to work being done????? Left clothes for cleaning. Picked up next day. We had a funeral to attend. My husband puts on shirt it has stains that were not there when I brought it to cleaners. Gets another shirt this also has stains that were not on shirt when dropped off. When I brought the shirts back to show them, they basically said it was my fault not them. They offered to clean them again at no charge. Shirts came back with even more stains.... Was basically told not their problem. Out 2 shirts.....Never...going back!!!!! Hole in the ground read more

Pretty disppointed. They told me that my dry cleaning would be done by 5. I showed up at 5:30 and they told me another 15 minutes. I came back 30 minutes later and it still wasn't done. Still paid full price even though they gave me a headache. Needless to say, not planning on going back there again. read more

so i've been going here for the last 5 years and I gotta agree with the review about prices. They are so much more than most dry cleaners, i have never seen a price sheet but it seems like about $2 per normal item. While i hate the price, i;ve been going there for 5 years becuase they have NEVER made a mistake or ruined anything. You really get what you pay for here. I keep on thinking i might go somewhere cheaper, but i'm afraid of my stuff getting ruined. Very accomadating store, same day, special requests, late pickup etc etc. as long as i can afford it, i'll still go. read more

I have picked up several orders from the business. Everything has always been ready on the day and time; exactly as promised! It's an odd set-up with some 'ancient' items in the lobby. The huge sign out front is a throwback and really quaint/charming. I wish the front door worked properly, however, I go there for the quality of the cleaning and I suppose I can tolerate a malfunctioning door for exceptional work. Shirts were spotless and perfectly starched, suit was clean, creases were well-done, etc etc. Thanks much! read more
