Came in to Shlair's by chance. I needed my jeans hemmed. She charged $14 which I thought was pricy but for same day service to me it was worth it. I asked some friends and I had two ends of the spectrum. Some say it was too much and others that thought it was proper pricing. I was satisfied that I'm no longer stepping on my jeans. I'd try her again. Maybe she can fix my dress that the other seamstress left unfinished from the February party. read more

I bought a collectible pokemon pillow online for about $90 and i had to make a repair and i wanted it cleaned. They did their best cleaning it and they did a good job. It was mostly linty. The repair was done and the issue is not noticeable at all. Looks good, took about a week and it costed me $22. I think it was worth it. The people there were nice and respectful. read more

Shlair does an excellent job with the alterations on my daughter's school uniforms and other pieces of clothing. She also has a fabulous cleaning service for my comforters and work uniforms as well. Very highly recommended. read more

I posted a review before but it got filtered! I needed to fix my niece's prom dress, which needed work around the shoulders. They said they could make it fit. We went to pick it up 3 days later. They let us try it on in store, and the dress fit perfectly. We were very happy with both the service and the price. read more

I walked in and walked out. I asked to have them take up my pants they quoted me $15 and a week turn around. So if you want to pay %30 of the purchase price for the khakis to get them taylored rock on. Go to Cleaner's depot if you want dry cleaning $1.75 per garment. read more

Shlair is the best dry cleaner I have ever had! I have dry cleaning done fairly often and have had numerous dry cleaners over the years and she is by far the best! She takes the best care of my garments. If you need her to make alterations she's pro at that as well. Not only is she great at her job, but she is also very sweet and friendly. This cleaners has recently changed hands, so all previous reviews don't apply. The new owner is a wonderful seamstress, and a lovely person, named Shlair. For years I have gone to her for alterations at a Gold Coast cleaners and have now followed her to this new business. She is reliable, professional, and knows her stuff. I am happy to have found her and happily travel from the Gold Coast to the Foster and Harlem shopping center location, which is far for me, but very easy parking. I always enjoy my experience with her, and she is super competent. She is planning to change the name of the place so she won't be judged by the work of previous owners. You will be very happy with her work, I am willing to bet. read more

FORGET THIS PLACE. My cleaners closed after 12 years and this was the closest one and I am so disappointed. The woman at the desk was not very friendly which was the first turn off for me, and their prices are outrageous! They do not know how to press pants, no crease in any of my pants or shirts, as if they washed them and then ironed them . They lost the pants to my husband's $300-400 Calvin Klein suit, then told me they would reimburse me for the pants. We went and got a new pair of pants (which weren't even an exact match) for $190 and when I went to be reimbursed I was told it cost too much, they expected the pants to be around $30. They said they didn't have the money to pay me back and to come back next week. The attitude I got was horrendous and to be in the garment industry and not understand the value of clothing is BAD BAD BAD. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I brought my $200 comfortor in to have a simple rip in the seam fixed and to be cleaned and they destroyed it. The women I dropped it off to which I assume was the "owner" claimed she knew how to fix the seam and told me she would have it ready by the next day at 3pm. I ended up having to work late so I had to pick it up a couple days later. I apologized for not being their the next day to which she replied "oh that's okay it was ready to go yesterday!"......but wait I dropped it off more than two days ago so shouldn't it have been ready then not yesterday?......hmm glad I didn't rush out of work for it that day...then she brings my blanket out all wrapped up and I asked her if she was able to fix the rip...to which she replied "oh yeah I fixed it" now silly me I figured she knew how to do her job and I didn't need to pull off all the plastic wrapping to check if she indeed really did fix the rip and I just took her word for it. I get all the way home start removing the plastic wrap and what do I see? A bunch of strings sticking out the side of where the rip was, then as I am inspecting the area that she "fixed" I see SEVERAL issues. #1 she did not match the two seems together which was EXTREMELY obvious since the blanket is gray & white and there was a huge gap between them. #2 she used WHITE thread on a GRAY top which again was EXTREMELY obvious. #3 THERE WAS STILL PART OF THE HOLE LEFT THAT SHE DID NOT STICH AT ALL!!!!! Are you kidding me?! I take the blanket back into her and tell her the issues to which she acts dumb as if she had no clue how this could have even happen and tells me to leave it with her and she'll have "the girl" fix it and tell her the issues.....but wait didn't she tell me at pick up that it was HER who did the alteration??? So how are you going to play stupid like you have no idea how this all happened?! I told her no I did not trust them with my belongings and I wanted my money back. She offered me only $7 back out of a $33 charge and said she would be keeping the rest of my money because it was a "big blanket and took a long time to clean".....I tried explaining to her that yes she did clean the blanket but now I have to transfer it around to another place to have the now gapping hole in my blanket FROM HER to be fixed and it was going to get dirty again so I would have to have it cleaned yet again so she really didn't do me any favors. To which she replied "that's not my problem and went and sat down and ignored me. Forgot to mention her GREAT customer service skills....If you like not having your belongings destroyed I would STRONGLY suggest staying as far away from this place as possible. After reading her other reviews she clearly has no idea what she is doing and I wish I would have checked this before leaving my items with her and trusting her. read more

I went to this place two weeks ago, I did an alteration on my mother's antique Japanese Kimono, a very difficult task, and the staff at this location provided excellent customer care and skill with my request. I was especially surprised at the price, which was very reasonable considering the request. I would recommend to anyone who asked me. read more

Terrible service!!!!! I left my clothes there 10 months, my bad. However would not change the outcome. I left 2 shirts and 2 pants. She gave me that back but 1 shirt was not mine. Therefore they lost my shirt. She still charged me after I gave the wrong shirt back and said I should be thankful that my clothes are still there...... really? That's how we run a business? This dry cleaners has undergone an extremely amazing transformation within only a few days! I've been to this dry cleaners before, and it was never good enough no matter how many chances I gave them. The service just wasn't good. I stopped going there completely but then heard word that there was a new owner who acquired the business only a few days ago, so I decided to give them a final chance, especially since I work close by and it's a hassle going to a place that's further away. I'm glad I did. There is a new computer system rather than the handwritten receipts so that drastically reduces the chance of any clothing getting lost, which I've had a problem with in the past. The new owner(s??) are also professional tailors that work in the store, so unlike before, your clothes don't leave the building to get altered. If you've been to this place before and hated the service, give 'em another chance. read more

Tried to drop off my clothes at 7:30 am on a Monday. They were closed and I did not notice any hours posted. That doesn't seem to reflect a dedication to customer service. I will not be giving them a second chance. read more

I wish I can take a picture of bad our clothes look after they where supposed to be pressed. I was shocked at how much they charged for everything, I guess that was my fault for assuming that it would cost as much as a normal place charges. Told me 1.70 per dress shirt AFTER I said I needed them 24 hours after I dropped the shirts off. They charge me another dollar fee for "next day pick up". What? Why wouldn't you tell me that prior? Will not be back. read more

I have been perfectly happy with this dry cleaner. They're more expensive than I would like, but they're close, and they do good work. They once pointed out a stain to me while I was dropping the garment off, and told me it was unlikely they could get it out. That gave me the information I needed to make my decision, which is all I can ask for! read more

1 star, I wish yelp allowed people to give 0. The women I dealt with her is unbelievable. I walked in and asked for 2 shear curtains to be hemmed. They were brand new. She wouldn't give me a quote just said it won't be too much. I should've known then to walk out, my bad. 4 days later I picked them up, got home and was excited to hang them. Well nothing was hemmed, nothing! I called right away and asked what happened after just being charged $26. She got aggressive right away on the phone with me, this was very surprising since I calmly asked maybe there was a mistake. She said "NO you called me 2 days ago and said you didn't want them hemmed you just wanted them cleaned." I said "what! I never spoke with you and I would have never said that because they are brand new and don't need a cleaning". I brought them back the next day and said I wanted my money back. She started yelling at me claiming crazy crazy shit. After raising my voice she finally gave me my money back. Honestly this women is nuts. I don't care if you have to drive to Indiana for a dry cleaning anything is better then this place. Stay FAR FAR AWAY!! read more

I don't even want to give this place one star but I can not move past to give my written review without giving one. This place is horrible!! The Hispanic older woman behind the counter was so mean and rude to me immediately! She began telling me that my piece of clothing was not there although I had my ticket. She further went on to tell me they only keep clothes for 3months. It had been 2 weeks not even a month. My shirt was gone and her response "not my problem" that's all she kept saying and then she tells me my ticket is old and they don't even use those tickets anymore. I then pointed out the exact same pad on the counter that matched my ticket. Again her response "not my problem" don't bring your clothes here cause you will not get them back. I'm sure someone in her family is wearing the shirt now!! She makes up her own policy, has a bad attitude, and lied to my face!! It's outrageous that she treats customers this way. I brought my wedding dress in along with my husband 's suit pants (from Men's Warehouse, part of $400 suit) to be cleaned. They had my wedding dress done and did an okay job. They lost the pants. They said they'd call me the next day, never did. I told my husband about this, he then went in and the woman there laughed as if it was a joke then eventually offered to take the suit jacket to Men's Warehouse to get the TAILORED matching pants. My husband said no and said to find his pants. 2 weeks later I get a call that they found the pants, great! I go in and she expects me to pay the $5 for the dry clean service after losing them for a month. I explained I'm not going to pay because she inconvenienced my husband (or could have) and she said she would've taken the jacket to men's warehouse to get the pants and I had to re explain that they're TAILORED AND IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT and I shouldn't have to pay. She then said "fine, just get out of here." So I left with my pants and I will absolutely never go to this place again. OH and when I originally went here, they close at 7, and I got there at 6:30 and they almost sent me away because they were "closing." Terrible. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS AT THIS PLACE! They have unfair business practices, and they get physically violent with their customers over $12. It was my friend's first and definitely last time going there. Here is the story: She was told a bill would be $40, and upon her pick up, they changed the price to $52 and wouldn't release her garments. Let's not forget to mention the clothes weren't even packaged and pressed after the tailoring was done. One of her pants was shortened and shoved back into the bag they came in. Anyways, they said talk to the person who wrote $40 on the pick up ticket and initialed her name that the price would be $40. She, the customer, was told that the garments cannot be released even though the pick up ticket clearly states $40. She was commanded to "come back tomorrow." Keep in mind, also, the number of garments dropped off and worked on had remained the same. No prices were itemized. Nonetheless, she was inconvenienced and had to go back the next day. She gave the clerk $40 and the clerk argued with my friend, the customer, that the price changed, and she still owed $12 more now. She said to the clerk "how can you just jack up a price and not tell her. The services to be rendered were discussed and agreed upon and you signed off it would cost $40." Well, she took her stuff anyway and asked for a receipt stating that this order has been paid in full. The clerk refused to say the items were paid in full and pushed and shoved my friend attempting to remove her from the store physically, while screaming at her in the process. I repeat... PHYSICALLY PUSHED HER OUT OF THE STORE and my friend's body hit the door. She said she is going to call the police, unless she get a receipt. She said "as a consumer, I am entitled to a receipt, since I did pay you $40 cash. Please mark the ticket I gave you paid in full." Instead, the clerk took the pick up ticket she had originally signed off on for $40, altered the prices on that to reflect the mark up of $12 so the two copies say $52 was owed. My friend was appalled and said this is how you do business? Then she dialed 911and showed the clerk her phone. She said "you can make this go away if you just give me the receipt that I am entitled." Then the clerk said go ahead and flat out lied and said my friend approached her and made a threatening gesture. My friend said now how could I even approach you? I was on the other side of the service counter! Then the clerk lied again and said she has three witnesses to say that my friend raised her hand like she was going to hit her (the clerk). Really? At this point, enough was enough. My friend hit the call button. The cops reprimanded the clerk for shoving the customer, told the clerk that my friend could press charges if she wanted to, made the clerk give my friend a receipt saying paid in full, and advised my friend to contact the BBB. There are so many better dry cleaners out there. Try CD1 Price Cleaners. I get three garments clean for the price of 1 at this place, and they are like Carmax. The price is fixed. From reading all the reviews at this place, alterations on pants (for shortening) ranged from $10-15 depending on the mood of the workers. Wow. read more
