There is a reason why the best review for this bridal shop is the owner's sister. If you can alter or purchase your dress anywhere else, I suggest you do so. In summary, my experience fell short of what one expects from a boutique shop. While we are expected to pay boutique prices, boutique service is not what is provided. I purchased my wedding dress here because I love supporting local, women-owned business. Well, after months of not receiving any communication as to when my dress would arrive, I contacted the shop. I had to follow up with the store on MULTIPLE occasions to get an accurate date as to when my dress would be in. When my dress finally arrived, I went in for alterations and Kelly said the cost would be over $1,000 after already spending nearly $3,000 on my wedding dress. The sales rep originally told me alterations would be about $500 so when Kelly casually told me the alterations total I was shocked. More than double what I was quoted?! I don't have parents paying for my dress so this is all coming out of my pocket. I asked, because I purchased the dress in her shop, if there was any kind of a discount to which she swiftly replied, "No. Absolutely not." At that point I tried to rack my brain as to whether I'd be able to come up with the rest of the money and said I wasn't sure and that I'd need to take the dress and figure something out. She rolled her eyes, stormed off, put my dress into a bag and said that if I came back for alterations, I wouldn't have it in time for my trip to Spain (I'm having a destination wedding). I felt like she was trying to scare me into leaving the dress with her, which is really messed up. What started as a sweet moment in a nice shop was ruined once Kelly got involved. UPDATE: I found a shop in Riverside who will do all the work needed (hem, bringing in the waist/bust, AND adding sleeves) all for under $300. I also found matching fabric for my dress at New Rainbow Fabrics for $25. You can do much better than this shop. read more

From my first appointment at Sew Bridal, Kelly made everything so comfortable and easy. She had picked out many dresses for me to try and then let me look through as well. Kelly had champagne ready and a positive and energetic attitude toward the process! I started looking for a dress a few months later than recommended (quicker wedding) and Kelly really helped me with my timeline for getting my dress ready in time! I found my dream dress at Sew Bridal but had some ideas to make it even better and Kelly was open to helping me make all of the changes. She made sure everything came out absolutely perfect and it was an amazing experience. She also took a piece of my grandmas dress and stitched the date my grandma wore hers and the date I wore mine in blue as my something old and something blue, which was so special. They really make you feel like you're the only client with the 1:1 time with the stylist and SO comfortable during such a stressful and important commitment - honestly more than picking a husband. I had a less than stellar experience at this shop last summer. I came in looking for alterations to a bridesmaid dress (shortened straps, hem, slimmed skirt) and was quoted a very reasonable price and timeframe by Kelly. When I came to pick the dress up the straps had not been shortened, so Kelly quickly took the dress in back and made the adjustment. I blame myself for not studying the quality and detail of the other alterations before paying & leaving the shop. Had I done so, I would have seen that the hem was poorly serged, not rolled and sewn; and that the 1-2" of additional skirt material (on each side) was not removed, but simply stuffed inside the new seams. The hastily done strap adjustment made the bodice of the dress crooked and very unflattering. When I tried the dress on for my mom her first response was " How quickly can you get another one?" I considered bringing the dress back to Kelly to address her mistakes, but due to timing as well as the high stakes of this being my sister's wedding, I ended up taking the dress to a different, very experienced seamstress who was horrified by the quality of the alterations done at Sew Bridal. I have learned that just because someone charges for their services does not mean they are a professional, or that they provide quality work. If you are looking for a seamstress who will provide guidance regarding proper alterations to suit your body, and not just someone who runs a few seams through a machine and calls it done, then don't go to Kelly at Sew Bridal. read more

Kelly took almost a foot off of my wedding dress while keeping the detail of the skirt. I am only 4'11" tall and even with 5" heels the dress was terribly long. I brought my daughters dress in to be altered and told the owner that I did not want to pay over $150 for alterations. I flat out told her that if it would cost more than that, then I wasn't going to do it. She quoted me 150. We came back for the second fitting and the dress was bulging on the sides so she said she would put a couple darts into the dress and when I came back to pick it up, she charged me extra money for it. She didn't say on the first visit that there may be extra charges if it didn't fit right away and she didn't say anything about extra charges in the second visit. My daughter confirmed this when we walked out of the store. I'm mad at myself for even paying her the extra money. It's very disappointing and unprofessional to do something like this, especially when you are the owner of the shop. Had she communicated that to me from the beginning, I would've never done the dress because I was very clear about it. read more

A huge lesson I've heard from getting alterations done is to not skimp. I had a minimal work that needed to get altered so I was under the wrong assumption that very few things could go wrong. For a bridal alteration, I value the experience through two things: the customer care and the quality of the alteration. From the moment I stepped in, the experience at Sew Bridal felt very impersonal. Getting a wedding dress fitted is a highly personal experience - I was hoping for guidance on how much to take in, how to care for it, direction etc. Kelly didn't provide much direction or clarity on this from the get go. Getting bridal alterations requires trust and I felt unwelcome when I stepped into the door. I was unsure if it was the right alteration, fit, etc. During my second fitting, the train got dirty due to the unclean floors. The floors here are incredibly dirty, with dust, glitter, dirt, all over the floor. It's perplexing why a wedding dress alteration store which will inevitably have trains on the ground doesn't vacuum the floor. As for the quality of the work, there were a few mishaps that occurred - for my second fitting, a red stain occurred on the strap, and the hanging loop was missing. These are minor things that require attention to detail. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Sew Bridal purely due to having more peace of mind. I'm really disappointed because this place was well spoken and didn't quite deliver. read more

I've had two bridesmaids dresses altered here. When Kelly altered my first dress, upon trying it on I noticed that the hem was uneven. She did fix it and I returned the next week to pick it up, but felt that the overall hem was then too short. My second dress involved another hem, as well as taking in the bodice. When I tried it, I noticed that the bodice had not been taken in as discussed. I was going on vacation the next day, and the wedding was the following week, so no time to take it back. I requested a quote to get my royal blue bridesmaid dress dyed black to reuse for another wedding and she was super quick to respond. The quote was super affordable, so I went over to the shop. Kelly was super clear with me that the dye might not take due to the material of the dress, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. We made an appointment and she followed up with me before the appointment, letting me know that the dye did not take to the dress and that it had only slightly changed colors. My experience with Kelly was amazing!! She was a God send! I purchased my wedding dress from David's Bridal and was told when I bought it that sleeves could be sewn on to it. Well, I bought the dress and made my appt. with them 2 months before the wedding to have the alterations done. At the alterations appt. they told me that they couldn't do that (sleeves) and that the sales women shouldn't have told me they could :0 (It's a long story, but I thought this was supposed to be a magical moment, instead I left crying and panicked :( After reaching out to several alterations/seamstresses, Kelly was the only one who could work with me so close to the wedding.
