Jackie. Need I say more? She tailored my dress beautifully and I will be back for all of my tailoring needs! read more

Jackie is an absolute magician. I did a lot of research on wedding dress seamstresses in Chicago and found numerous Reddit threads raving about her work. The day I went to her for the first time to price out what I wanted, I had appointments with 3 other seamstresses scheduled after. I cancelled them all after meeting her. When I put on my dress I could see her mind buzzing with enhancement ideas. I went there thinking I just wanted my dress more fitted rather than the original A line, but she began pinning fabric to the neck and sleeves and all over the dress to show me how much better the dress could be. By the end, I was obsessed with my dress twice as much as I was when I purchased it. Jackie is personable, kind, and prices her work so fairly. I couldn't have trusted anyone else with my wedding dress more! read more

The reviews are right! Jackie does a great job and for a more reasonable cost than comparable tailors in Evanston. I went to Jackie after a failed hunt for a bridesmaid dress and a crazy high quote from another high-rated tailor in the area. She was able to combine the top of one dress with the bottom of another, and you'd never know it was a Frankenstein-ed combo. I also witnessed her alterations on other women's dresses while I was in the shop, and all looked gorgeous. Thank you, Jackie and Ralph Tailors! read more

Jackie does phenomenal work and her prices are very respectable. I recommended her to a friend and now she brings all her clothes to Jackie even though she lives in the Galewood neighborhood. Bring your clothes to her you won't regret it. read more

True story: I do not get anything altered/tailored here in Chicago because it's way too expensive. I bring them all back home to L.A. and get them done there for half the price... ... until I discovered Jackie. A teammate of mine brought me here to get our uniform's altered and Jackie couldn't have done a better job!! She knew just how to adjust things to flatter my (lean) body type. She had asked when I needed it by, and I told her I was in no rush, but she had it done in just a few days (even with wedding season upon us!). Best of all, her prices were the most reasonable prices ever (i.e. jean hems were less than $10). She is very skilled at her trade and I love it. I'm coming back here and bringing my wardrobe! :D read more

Love how everything comes out. My daughters pants or my dresses. I highly recommend this place !

It doesn't matter what you need. Wedding dress? Jackie has it covered. Men's suit? perfection. And even if there is a tiny little thing you want better after she alters-- she will make it perfect. My now husband got three suits altered. My bridesmaid got her black lace dress hemmed. And I got my wedding dress tucked and nipped everywhere, plus cups added, hemmed, and bustled. The total for all the work done on my dress? A measly $200. I was expecting to pay at least $100 more! And Jackie knows she could charge more, but she's an honest woman and keeps the prices reasonable. My dress was by no means simple. But she did such a great job and it fit my body well. I will now take all my alterations to Jackie. And all you brides out there, don't waste your time at other places. read more

Ralph Tailors - wedding dress needed to fit my body perfectly and it did. - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Jackie is a genius! She can fix any garment so that it fits you perfectly afterwards. I have been going there for years and I've always been extremely happy with her work. She also always has your garment finished when she tells you it will be. She's the BEST! Love you Jackie!! read more

My go to tailor! I've had three dresses and a jumpsuit tailored by Jackie. She always goes above and beyond! She would adjust jewels on my evening gowns and fix minor details that she finds along the process of her tailoring my dresses. She always meets my needs. For such an affordable price, Jackie and her team are worth so much more. read more

Jackie altered both my wedding dress and my spouse's. It's a little nerve wracking to leave your wedding dress with someone, especially if you haven't had anything tailored by them before, but both came out wonderful. Mine just needed a bustle and to be taken in on top, but my spouse's needed a little more work done and both came out great. The bodice on her dress was sheer and Jackie did a great job adding a liner that matched her skin tone. It's cash only but the pricing is extremely good- much cheaper than getting them done in-house at a bridal salon. We took our dresses in about 8 weeks before our wedding and that was plenty of time for both of them. I definitely recommend Jackie to any other brides! read more

Had my Wedding Dress and my husbands suit altered here for our Wedding! They did a great job and everything fit so beautifully. Ralph Tailors is also well priced, she turned around the clothing when she said she would and made sure I was 100000% happy with the way my dress fit. She kept reminding me that it was my day and it wasn't too much to ask for further alterations. read more

Jackie is amazing! I shopped around and called a few places because I didn't want to bring my wedding dress to just anyone. I heard about her through a friend, and I am so glad I decided to go with her recommendation. Jackie has a great eye for detail and altered my wedding dress beautifully. She's personable, responsible, and reasonably priced. I recommend her to anyone looking for someone skilled and reliable for their dress alterations! read more

I brought 2 BCBG dresses here to get the straps shortened, the bottom shortened and have cups added. When I tried on the dresses at home, I noticed one dress had 2 holes about the size of a pencil eraser at the bottom close to the hem. It looked like it got snagged on something. I immediately called Jackie and told her about it, to which she replied "that's impossible, that has never happened before". I told her those holes were not there before. Had they been there, she would have seen them when she was pinning up the hem. I check all the clothes I buy for damage before I buy them because BCBG dresses not only are expensive, they are not returnable. I know I would not have missed something like that. Another thing, the straps were uneven, the left side was 2 inches longer, so the cups were also not even. It was as if whoever worked on the dress did not care at all. The hem was jagged, not straight like the original, I think I could have done a better job. Now I have to wait until Tuesday to bring it back because they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Update: Jackie was able to fix the 2 holes at the bottom of the dress where I couldn't even tell where it was, however, she was not able to fix the straps to make it even because too much of the material have already been cut out. She said it might be because my shoulders are not even. If that was the case, then everything else I have ever bought must have had shoulders that were uneven because they fit just fine. read more

Is it me or is her husband a rude and arrogant? I had gone to pick my jacket which I got fitted the day she told me, it was not ready. Jackie had told me I usually work late during the week just call me and I'll have it ready for you to pick-up. Unfortunately, her rude husband was not happy with Jackie telling me I was able to pick it up later saying we close at 6pm only. I asked to speak to Jackie and he rudely asked me if I didn't understand what he had just told me. After a few altercations with her husband, he finally handed the phone to Jackie. I am deducting 2 stars from this place not because of Jackie's work, her work is fantastic, but for her husband's rude attitude and because my items were not ready on time. read more

Suit jacket: Waist/back tapered Arms Tapered Arms shortened Suit pants: Waist tapered Legs tapered Legs shortened -------------------------- $80 for a completely tailored suit, yeah I think so. Already gotten most of my wardrobe done here. After going to three other tailors that are ridiculously over priced compared to here I feel a bit foolish because the quality of work is just the same if not better. It would be better if they took credit card but I guess since the prices are so low I wouldn't see the need but it would be nice if they took debit. read more

My family and I have been going to see Jackie for many years now and I cannot say enough good things about her! Everything from basic hems on jeans/pants to my sister's bridesmaid dress...she is quick, amazing, knows how to make you look your best and is just such a sweet person in general. My best friend was getting married in LA on a Friday and I went to pick up my bridesmaid dress from Jackie on Wednesday. I may have indulged a bit too much that week, because the dress was a tad small on me when I tried it on. But with Jackie? It wasn't an issue! I took it back Thursday morning and she had it ready by 5pm. It was PERFECT. She let it out a tad and said it happens all the time. I have sent many family/friends to see Jackie and none of them have been anything but incredibly pleased (they have even ended up referring Ralph's to their friends and family!). It may be a little far north for all you city dwellers, but the 20 minute ride is SO worth it. She is reasonably priced and most importantly, takes care of your clothes and does everything quickly. read more

Best place to have your clothing and formal wear altered. Jackie is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, as well as an expert tailor. When I called prior to bringing my horrifyingly large bridesmaid's dress in, she told me she would tell me if she wouldn't be able to fix it. This was comforting, as I would rather someone tell me no, versus saying yes and then making a mess. She did fix it, and did a fabulous job at a reasonable price. I will certainly go back and recommend her to my friends. read more

Jackie = My new best friend. Seriously! She is a miracle worker. And so affordable! She made a hideous bridesmaid dress look good on me! If she could save that dress, she can save anything. read more

Great work! Jackie was so helpful with me and my suggested alterations for my wedding gown. I needed the neckline sweet hearted and cap sleeves added to my already strapless dress. It's hard to envision your dress with such dramatic alterations but Jackie and her team worked wonders and helped my off the shoulder, cap sleeve vision to come alive! The price was very competitive to other alteration places I had gone to in the area as well. My only reservation was once it was starting to get close to my wedding date (about 3 weeks out) I hadn't heard anything or even a update but luckily they were on it an when I called, they said it was just about finished and would be ready in two days. Needless to say I was relieved and when I went in to try on the final product, it was perfect! I will be sure to go back to Jackie and her team at Ralph tailors whenever I need any alterations. read more

Ralph Tailors - The neckline was so dramatic and really tied my entire dress design together. Thank you Jackie! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Took my wedding dress to be altered by Jackie and I couldn't be happier. She is pleasant to be around and she did such a wonderful job! My dress was one of those fussier ones with lots of lace and beading and she was able to fit it perfectly to my body without losing a single detail. She also bustled my dress in a way that was both beautiful and easy for my mother to do. She's incredibly affordable in comparison to other alteration specialists out there. One woman quoted me $600 for everything I wanted done - Jackie did it for $180. She also works really quickly! Brides on a time and budget crunch, this woman is definitely for you! Cash only. read more

I am so happy I discovered Jackie at Ralph's Tailors. I was researching customer reviews in my search for someone to help me with a sewing project, and I decided to give Jackie a try because her reviews were consistently positive. I had a good feeling about this business from the minute I walked in the door because Jackie is a good listener, and I was confident she understood what I was describing. I just picked up my finished product, and her work was excellent. Her prices are very fair as well. I'll definitely be back, and I'm grateful to know Jackie is there. read more

Jackie is the one here! While I think she does a lot of bigger jobs like wedding dresses and such, I have found her to be a great resource for small jobs....pants shortened, repair torn pockets (she did an amazing job on my favorite shirt!) and such. Friendly (yes!), efficient (yes!), and timely (yes!). She is a great resource right here in my neighborhood. read more

Best tailor in around the north side. She keeps up with trends but won't lie to you if things don't look good on you. Now every time I buy a pair of pants I just come here she does a quick hem and taper and off I go. read more

Jackie is a miracle worker. My mother was an expert seamstress, but when her eyesight started to fail, she found Jackie, who exceeded my mother's exacting standards. I recently brought her a vintage "mod" suit which I wore last in the 70s. Somehow she altered it to fit my 40 year older body. read more

Took a suit here to get tailored. I (a little rudely) arrived shortly before closing. I was still seen and measured for tailoring without being rushed. Later I was leaving town and so I asked if I could pick up my suit a little early. I was kindly accommodated, and the price was even less than I expected. This place is great! Would definitely bring any garments here to be tailored in future! Highly recommended! read more

Five pairs of Limited and Express dress pants (that I wear for work) were taken-in (from a size 12 to an 8...lost weight recently). BEAUTIFUL JOB! My pants were taken-in not just at the sides, but also at the back (so there's no "butt gapping"). I had both jeans and dress pants taken-in at the waist; I also had a hem shortened and lingerie catches put into straps on a dress. ALL THAT WORK was 48.00. You cannot beat that! BONUS: Full, clean, actual dressing rooms for trying clothes/alterations on! Whoo-hoo! read more

Jackie performed the alterations to my wedding dress. I bought a non-traditional gown from Nordstrom (off the rack), and Jackie made it look beautiful! The alterations she made included a French bustle, adding a modesty panel, shortening the gown, and adding more material around the bust. These alterations took 3 appointments in total (dropping off the dress, one fitting, and picking up the dress). I appreciate that Jackie was honest about what would look good on my body type and with the type of dress I selected. I took her recommendations and was very pleased with the end result. Jackie has 40+ years of experience in this field, and it is evident in all that she does. Also, her prices are very reasonable. I drove 40+ minutes from the South Loop to have Jackie work on my dress, and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! read more

I was looking for a place to have my wedding dress fitted and altered because I thought it was just going to cost way too much to have it done at the bridal store. I am so glad I looked around! Jackie was much closer to my house, so friendly, helpful and nice! And my dress turned out perfectly! It now fits like a glove and has the most beautiful bustle (simple and elegant) that I could have ever imagined. I would recommend Jackie to anyone and everyone who asks- and I would trust her with any article of clothing, from dress pants to my wedding dress, which is exactly what I did! Her price was half what the bridal store would have charged, and I just can't get over how perfectly the dress fits now! This place really is great! Only one thing- when you go to pick up your things be sure to have cash or check- she doesn't take credit! read more

To update my last post, my wedding dress turned out great. She listened to everything I said and was supportive of my decisions to have this alternative red dress that was made in China and ordered on E-bay (required some significant changes). She got the whole thing ready with just two fittings in 3 weeks. You feel like she's your supportive aunt that thinks you look great all the time but is critical enough to really make sure you look your best. I will now be taking all my tailoring to her. It's the right price, the turn around is fast, and the service impeccable. read more

Jackie let out my wedding dress a little and added a bustle. It looked great except that the bustle was not brought up off the floor. I had told Jackie I was going to do a Waltz in the dress and that if the length of the back was the same as the front it would be good. Well she made the bustle so it touched the ground instead of being just off the ground like the front of the dress is. Apparently, that's just how it's supposed to be, she told me. Well, I ended up not being able to do the Waltz my husband and I had practiced for in my wedding dress:( I was tripping all over it. Luckily I had brought a shorter casual dress with me to the venue so I changed into that to dance, but it wasn't what I had hoped for. I learned my lesson to always be very clear about what you want. read more

My winter jacket needed a zipper replacement. I wanted an exact replacement that looks like the original, so I searched for the zipper myself. I finally bought online a 2-way separating zipper, which was the correct style but not the right color (it was the best I could do). When I brought the jacket and zipper to Jackie, she showed me her selection of 2-way separating zippers of various colors and I was able to select a better zipper with the perfect color (purple). In addition to it being the correct style and color, the zipper was sewed on very beautifully. My jacket looks as good as new! I am very thrilled. read more

Jackie is the absolute best. She is professional and a master tailor! I found her two years ago and she has never failed me. I've had suits, dresses, pants an now my wedding dress tailored by Jackie and they are all perfect! Jackie is like a mom or auntie and really cares about her customers. I appreciate her so much! I highly recommend her to anyone! read more

Jackie is awesome. I've had my wedding dress tailored here (which had to be overhauled since I bought it a year and a half before the wedding and I gained some weight), jeans, suit jackets (making more fitted, taking up sleeves and closing up button holes), suit pants (hem and went from bootcut to tapered per her recommendation and it's now my best suit), and more. She can generally do tight timelines if you need it, but it's going to be hard around any high holidays (since she's in west Rogers park, a lot of her clientele is Jewish). I found a dress for a work event and needed it turned around in 3 days right after thanksgiving and she did an awesome job (and I forever owe her) She keeps up a wall of previous dresses she's made and hemmed. Great at both doing what you ask and coming up with recommendations as well. read more

Jackie is AMAZING!!! Super sweet, fast and talented! She even altered my bridesmaid dress with one arm (she had broken it right after I had brought the dress in for alterations!) !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a great experience with Ralph Tailors for a floor length bridesmaid gown that needed to be shorted by a few inches. Prompt turnaround time, and reasonable cost: $25 for a chiffon dress with lining. The quality of the work was excellent and the alteration could hardly be detected. She asked questions about how I wanted the dress to fit (how much distance from the floor, train style, bust, etc.), and delivered exactly as promised! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend her! read more
