I went to Jackie after a failed hunt for a bridesmaid dress and a crazy high quote from another high-rated tailor in the area. I bring them all back home to L.A. and get them done there for half the price... ... until I discovered Jackie. It doesn't matter what you need. Wedding dress? Jackie has it covered. Men's suit? perfection. And even if there is a tiny little thing you want better after she alters-- she will make it perfect. My now husband got three suits altered. My bridesmaid got her black lace dress hemmed. And I got my wedding dress tucked and nipped everywhere, plus cups added, hemmed, and bustled. The total for all the work done on my dress? A measly $200. I was expecting to pay at least $100 more! And Jackie knows she could charge more, but she's an honest woman and keeps the prices reasonable. My dress was by no means simple. But she did such a great job and it fit my body well. It's a little nerve wracking to leave your wedding dress with someone, especially if you haven't had anything tailored by them before, but both came out wonderful. Mine just needed a bustle and to be taken in on top, but my spouse's needed a little more work done and both came out great. The bodice on her dress was sheer and Jackie did a great job adding a liner that matched her skin tone. It's cash only but the pricing is extremely good- much cheaper than getting them done in-house at a bridal salon. I brought 2 BCBG dresses here to get the straps shortened, the bottom shortened and have cups added. When I tried on the dresses at home, I noticed one dress had 2 holes about the size of a pencil eraser at the bottom close to the hem. It looked like it got snagged on something. I immediately called Jackie and told her about it, to which she replied "that's impossible, that has never happened before". I told her those holes were not there before. Had they been there, she would have seen them when she was pinning up the hem. I check all the clothes I buy for damage before I buy them because BCBG dresses not only are expensive, they are not returnable. I know I would not have missed something like that. Another thing, the straps were uneven, the left side was 2 inches longer, so the cups were also not even. It was as if whoever worked on the dress did not care at all. The hem was jagged, not straight like the original, I think I could have done a better job. Now I have to wait until Tuesday to bring it back because they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Update: Jackie was able to fix the 2 holes at the bottom of the dress where I couldn't even tell where it was, however, she was not able to fix the straps to make it even because too much of the material have already been cut out. She said it might be because my shoulders are not even. If that was the case, then everything else I have ever bought must have had shoulders that were uneven because they fit just fine. read more

Is it me or is her husband a rude and arrogant? I had gone to pick my jacket which I got fitted the day she told me, it was not ready. Jackie had told me I usually work late during the week just call me and I'll have it ready for you to pick-up. Unfortunately, her rude husband was not happy with Jackie telling me I was able to pick it up later saying we close at 6pm only. I asked to speak to Jackie and he rudely asked me if I didn't understand what he had just told me. After a few altercations with her husband, he finally handed the phone to Jackie. I am deducting 2 stars from this place not because of Jackie's work, her work is fantastic, but for her husband's rude attitude and because my items were not ready on time. read more

My family and I have been going to see Jackie for many years now and I cannot say enough good things about her! Everything from basic hems on jeans/pants to my sister's bridesmaid dress...she is quick, amazing, knows how to make you look your best and is just such a sweet person in general. My best friend was getting married in LA on a Friday and I went to pick up my bridesmaid dress from Jackie on Wednesday. I may have indulged a bit too much that week, because the dress was a tad small on me when I tried it on. But with Jackie? It wasn't an issue! Great work! Jackie was so helpful with me and my suggested alterations for my wedding gown. I needed the neckline sweet hearted and cap sleeves added to my already strapless dress. It's hard to envision your dress with such dramatic alterations but Jackie and her team worked wonders and helped my off the shoulder, cap sleeve vision to come alive! The price was very competitive to other alteration places I had gone to in the area as well. My only reservation was once it was starting to get close to my wedding date (about 3 weeks out) I hadn't heard anything or even a update but luckily they were on it an when I called, they said it was just about finished and would be ready in two days. Five pairs of Limited and Express dress pants (that I wear for work) were taken-in (from a size 12 to an 8...lost weight recently). BEAUTIFUL JOB! My pants were taken-in not just at the sides, but also at the back (so there's no "butt gapping"). I had both jeans and dress pants taken-in at the waist; I also had a hem shortened and lingerie catches put into straps on a dress. ALL THAT WORK was 48.00. You cannot beat that! Jackie let out my wedding dress a little and added a bustle. It looked great except that the bustle was not brought up off the floor. I had told Jackie I was going to do a Waltz in the dress and that if the length of the back was the same as the front it would be good. Well she made the bustle so it touched the ground instead of being just off the ground like the front of the dress is. Apparently, that's just how it's supposed to be, she told me. Well, I ended up not being able to do the Waltz my husband and I had practiced for in my wedding dress:( I was tripping all over it. Luckily I had brought a shorter casual dress with me to the venue so I changed into that to dance, but it wasn't what I had hoped for. My winter jacket needed a zipper replacement. I wanted an exact replacement that looks like the original, so I searched for the zipper myself. I finally bought online a 2-way separating zipper, which was the correct style but not the right color (it was the best I could do). When I brought the jacket and zipper to Jackie, she showed me her selection of 2-way separating zippers of various colors and I was able to select a better zipper with the perfect color (purple). In addition to it being the correct style and color, the zipper was sewed on very beautifully. My jacket looks as good as new! I am very thrilled. read more

To update my last post, my wedding dress turned out great. She listened to everything I said and was supportive of my decisions to have this alternative red dress that was made in China and ordered on E-bay (required some significant changes). She got the whole thing ready with just two fittings in 3 weeks. You feel like she's your supportive aunt that thinks you look great all the time but is critical enough to really make sure you look your best. I will now be taking all my tailoring to her. I've had my wedding dress tailored here (which had to be overhauled since I bought it a year and a half before the wedding and I gained some weight), jeans, suit jackets (making more fitted, taking up sleeves and closing up button holes), suit pants (hem and went from bootcut to tapered per her recommendation and it's now my best suit), and more. She can generally do tight timelines if you need it, but it's going to be hard around any high holidays (since she's in west Rogers park, a lot of her clientele is Jewish). I found a dress for a work event and needed it turned around in 3 days right after thanksgiving and she did an awesome job (and I forever owe her) She keeps up a wall of previous dresses she's made and hemmed. So I brought my bridesmaid dress in for alterations. I asked Jackie to shorten the dress and to bring it in a little because it was a little big on me. When I came to pick up the dress the length was perfect but the dress wasn't tight enough for how I wanted. Also the area of where she sowed the dress was all visible which I thought was weird. So with that being said she had to take in the dress more for it to fit me how I wanted. After that I took the dress home and it seemed to fit well. The day of the wedding the dress seemed to loosen up which was frustrating because I had to keep adjusting the dress all night. She also created a "Bustle" for me and for those of you who don't know what that means, it's primarily used to lift the long, elegant trains of wedding gowns off the floor. so called "bustle" was nonexistent at that point. So I paid $85 dollars and it seemed like the dress was only shortened because nothing else held up. I know that when I came in she was busy, so it seemed like she half assed the alterations to meet her deadline. read more
