I first visited Down To Earth because of Stephanie M's review. She says, "This is a very dangerous store." Let me just say, that is a very factual statement. I happily spend A LOT of money at this perfectly-curated home and garden store in Eugene. I love gardening, and given that my husband and I recently purchased a 100-year-old cottage in NE Portland, I need a lot of inspiration. There are plenty of great places to find home and garden goods in Portland, but Down to Earth seems to have their finger on the pulse of everything hot and new. I find all of my favorite things here like Fiesta pottery and cast iron cookware, but I'm incredibly grateful for being introduced to so many new products as well. I discovered Dani bath and candle products here. I was introduced to Salty Lama detergent strips ((I'm a HUGE fan)) and Renee's Garden Seeds here as well. The garden shop is a lovely space, full of the most beautiful flowers, herbs and vegetables. You'll also find beautiful hand-crafted pots and garden decor, as well as an impressive supply of bee-keeping supplies. Don't forget to look into their classes and workshops on a variety of topics, and to sign up for their informative newsletter. Make the most of this amazing resource, folks! Stores like Down to Earth are worth supporting.

My experience started walking into a warm greeting followed by excellent service. I was looking for a plant and a nice heavy ceramic pot. The staff helped me and when I say staff I'm being literal. Three different people helped me but most importantly they were helping each other. I was the recipient and it was awesome! All repotted and away I went. Highly recommend this local business. Thank you to all the wonderful staff today.

No trip to Eugene is complete without a visit to Down to Earth. Between the kind staff, rustic building, and vast selection of plants and home improvement items, you really can't go wrong. This trip, I took home an aloe plant, some lavender soap, chocolates, a hanging basket (on sale for $10!) & some bee keeping equipment. Everyone here is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I used to work at the bank across the street & would spend my lunch breaks here window shopping. Even when I wasn't spending money, I was always treated kindly. Their prices are hard to beat too! I truly can't say I've ever had a bad experience. Down to Earth is a local gem.

I went to Down To Earth today for the first time since moving here a year ago. The store is FULL of beautiful things....kitchenware, soap, candles, plants, garden items, wind chimes, on and on, etc etc. I found the most perfect stone buddha for my garden water fountain.... I had envisioned it and here it was! So thrilled with my purchase. And the staff clearly love their work.

So stopping at Bree's Way, which is a new-to-me store (I'm not sure it was here even four years ago when I came home to visit) was a must stop. The woman there was really friendly, but they didn't have anything that called to me. Their jewelry selection was ok but limited; mostly rings and some pendants. They sell some chains for the pendants. They also have a lot of the standard Tarot decks, some esoteric and occult-related merchandise, posters, crystals, and so on. Parking was not bad for me when I visited, but there's not a lot of parking on Alder here. And if you don't know how to parallel park, probably best to avoid parking on the street. There's a parking lot about a block and a half down the street.

I've been buying oils from Heather for 10 years, and I've had nothing but great experiences from her. I went on a wild goose chase to find her and I was able to catch her in her final store front days before she switched over to her home front business permanently. I hadn't been to her shop for years, so I was so excited to have found her! I was looking for a specific product from years ago, and sadly she didnt have the ingredients to make it. What she did was ask what I was needing it for, made a concoction specifically for me, and hand made a custom bottle on the spot for me for $25! I've never experienced such personalized one on one interaction so I believe the experience you get for what you pay, is so incredible worth the value. All in all, I would recommend her

I have had friends who have gone there and none of them will ever go back. Two of the women were subjected to insulting comments about their cultures. One felt they were treated poorly because of their race. The classes were horrible. "Master herbalist" Heather Nic an Fhleisdeir would frequently go off into irrelevant rants during the classes and waste time (time that was paid for by the students) complaining about everything from other people's lifestyles to environmentalists to whatever random thing came into her head. And she was not particularly knowledgeable on any of the topics she ranted about. At time she seemed rather histrionic. Heather Nic an Fhleisdeir has poor boundaries or little respect for clients, students or anyone who does not agree with everything she says. She sprayed something on a friend of mine without permission. My friend has nut allergies and developed a bad rash and migraine within minutes of the incident. After telling a class that she never diagnoses or prescribes for legal reasons she then proceeded to prescribe herbs to someone who walked into the door. And she did so without asking this women any important questions like allergies or pregnancy. This person is dangerous and I do not know why she is still in business.

My wife and son were meeting her parents at Beer Garden, and that side of the parking lot was full as always. She parked in one of the empty Grays spots (most of their side was completely empty) to unload our four year old so she could go park somewhere else. Before she was able to move the car, an angry male employee came out and started yelling at her about it. This isn't a place we choose to support anymore, and I'll make sure to tell our friends these people aren't welcoming to their customers. I'd never looked at their yelp profile before, and had no idea how many other issues people have had with them. Do better Grays, get a handle on your attack dogs. We need to feel safe at the businesses we frequent. *Edit* - to add information for other customers After my wife got home, she called the store to complain to the manager, and the person she talked to said they were the owner. They backed up the employee, and didn't make any attempt to apologize or smooth things over. They said they witnessed the exchange and saw nothing wrong with it. We won't be returning anymore.
