Solid 4 star donut place! My last experience was lackluster but today made up for it. On my 3rd visit the apple fritter was oily, dense and dry as were the donut holes topping the drinks but today on my 4th visit everything was back to normal! The only bad thing is that they do sell out of the specials so I wasn't able to get the maple bacon bar today at 11am. The lavender donut was the star of the show. I had to wait until we got to the front of the (very long) line to disclose to my partner that we had been waiting for VEGAN donuts haha. I knew he wouldn't be happy, but good thing the line went pretty quickly, the workers were very nice, and the donuts were YUMMYyyy. He couldn't deny how good they were--fluffy, sweet, colorful. I really liked all four of the flavors we tried: mango con chile, french toast, dipped strawberry, and birthday cake. However, they gave me one wrong donut flavor so I went back in to get the correct one, and instead of just giving me the donut I had asked for, the owner actually reached into the box and removed the incorrect one and put it back on the display area! This is the first time I been to the store front. I have always gotten the donuts at their ballard food truck location. They are located where the Old School Frozen Custard used to be. We tried their special this time which includes a cinamon roll and a key lime pie donut. My husband love the cinnamon roll. It's soft and has a lot of flavors and not super duper sweet. It stayed soft throughout the day as well as we were nibbling on it throughout. I actually like the key lime a lot better but that's just personal preference. The outside is glazed with keylime flavor so you get that flavor pretty early on. But you also get a hint of sea salt which somehow makes it almost a sweet and savory sensation which i like a lot. Came here while visiting from Los Angeles. While walking up you're going to first notice the quiet and cute signage leading you here. When entering you're going to notice how nice the space looks but then comes the delicious aroma when crossing the threshold of the business. Everything looks delicious and the staff were super friendly. We were introduced to a new regular that was on their 4 visit in 2 weeks and after having their donuts you'd understand why. I chose 2 donuts, one being cherry and chocolate flavored and the other being an apple fritter. Hands down one of the best fritters I've ever had. The exterior was nicely fried, it was not too dark not too pale but still had a nice crisp texture, great if you're just ripping off bites to eat. Once the Ballard truck got rolling, there were subtle ripples amongst the social media and word on the street a storefront was on the horizon. One of the first design cues I liked about the space was the marbled epoxy floor. I'm no contractor but that sounds labor-intensive, as well. It's just a neat randomized texture of white with notes of swirly pink. The pink continues the interior with features of exposed wood members and fun vibrant things w/o being overly flamboyant. I definitely appreciate the details they put in here. They do an awesome job having staff that are super friendly & laid-back. In addition to them, sometimes you'll find Sean and/or Christopher in the mix with their big ass smiles. Now, I'll preface to say that *I* don't have a sweet tooth so I only indulge on the rare occasion (read other reviews to share your sweet tooth thangs). Their regulars & rotations are quite cool! I have a thing for spices so it was pretty rad when they had a cardamom; of course, cinnamon twist & apple fritter with the cinnamon, too. Flexing their creative juices is sweet.
