We were traveling from out of town when our car broke down. We had been thinking about downsizing our Suburban after our trip but didn't know what to do now that we were stuck... spend more money on repairs, or trade it in as is. A family member told us to go to this dealership and talk to Pedram. He had purchased several cars from him over the years and trusted him to either get our car fixed at their service shop or to trade it in for a different car. When we pulled into the dealership, our car was overheating. We parked it and asked for Pedram. He knew we were coming and asked what we wanted to do. I was curious as to what they had and what kind of deal they would make so I opted to see what they had to offer. A few hours later we drove off the lot in a new Kia Telluride. This place is every nightmare you expect from a car dealership. I'm on my 3rd and probably my last Kia because of this. My 2nd Kia was running great, got an oil change from Doug Smith dealership and they forgot to put oil back in. The engine was destroyed and instead of making it right, I had to come up with a huge amount to do a trade in / purchase a newer car. Now that newer car engine had a defect. The dealer took 3 months to tear the old engine apart to see if they could get out of covering the warranty. They finally determined it was a warranty issue. Now they say that the car computer is broken (which it wasn't when they diagnosed the engine issue). They won't cover anything unless they make up their costs by deceptive and shady practices! Extremely disappointed with my experience at this Kia dealership. I came in ready to make a deal, but they were completely unwilling to work on the price. We all know there's flexibility in car pricing, but they acted like the sticker was set in stone. On top of that, they offered me far below blue book value for my trade-in, despite it being in great shape with low mileage. This resulted in two tired wearing prematurely. March 2024 test drove one of their pricier vehicles and had no problem. Came back a week later but wanted to test drive a significantly less expensive vehicle first. We were treated differently despite having the same salesperson as before. We had to show proof of our personal auto insurance and the salesperson had problems with the manager when getting our test drive arranged. We ended up walking away before the test drive. The culmination of all of our problems with this specific dealer over the last several years was enough for us to walk away when it looked like nothing had changed. read more

We bought a new seltos 2 years ago and last month the engine needed to be replaced. They've had it in the shop over a month with no idea when it will be done. Our 24K mile Kia Niro EV stopped providing cold AC, so I scheduled an appointment to have my college age daughter take it in and have fixed, assuming our 100K warranty was good. Appointment was scheduled a month in advance so when she showed up at 7:30am on 6/27/24, after waiting 8 hours, they told her "Our EV guy is not here, you will have to come back tomorrow. Today, she is there at 7:30am. They diagnosed that the noise the AC is using requires a new blower. Mike said it was low on refrigerant, "but we can't find a leak, so it is going to cost you $700 for the refrigerant that we put in the unit. If you don't pay the $700, we will discharge the refrigerant that we put in." I told my daughter that $700 for refrigerant is too much and it should be under warranty so my daughter told them that I want you to perform whatever warranty service you are willing to provide. Their response "We are going to remove the refrigerant and It's going to blow hot air" So they removed all of the refrigerant from the system, even the refrigerant that was in the car when it arrived and the system won't blow any air, hot or cold. This morning when she took the car in, at least it would blow air, now it doesn't even blow. I regret buying a Kia and I regret scheduling an appointment with Doug Smith Kia. read more

There service was terrible. They took a week to look at my. car. They took another week to make the radiator repair that they said was needed, then they said I needed a whole new engine. When I asked why this was moving so slowly they said they had over 100 cars waiting to be repaired and they are short staffed and some of their mechanics have been taking days off without notice. They finally gave me a quote to replace the engine only for me to find out days later, when I asked about timing, that they could not find a new engine and had no timeframe on how many weeks or months it would take to get one. When I tried to have my car towed elsewhere and pay for their overpriced services they wouldn't release my. car until I paid the full amount of the invoice including the portion my extended warranty company authorized payment of over a week earlier. read more

Our recent experience with Doug Smith Kia Service easily ranks as our worst experience ever with an auto repair service. We took our 2016 Kia Sorrento in because the cruise control indicator light had come on. We expected it would be a two-day turn around time based on what we were initially told. They ended up keeping our car for THREE months. At the three-month point when they wanted us to pay $2500 plus to put in a second expensive part since the first part they had put in ($2200) had not fixed the problem, we told them we just wanted our car back. Throughout this ordeal, the communication with us was unbelievably poor. The final nail in the coffin was when we picked up our car. We were shocked that they hadn't even bothered to clean the interior section where they had taken the car apart and that was now covered in dust and dirt (with a few screws here and there), let alone clean the exterior since our car had been outside in the lot for three months. There were only two positives of our 3-month, failed repair ordeal. The first was that two weeks into the marathon, they gave us a loaner car to use. Second, when we told them to take out the first expensive part and put the old one back in since it obviously did not fix the problem, they agreed to not charge us for the part but still charged us for labor. Bottom line: It is mind-boggling that a service department for a dealership could be so incompetent and fall so short in the area of customer service. read more

Just don't go here. They'll rip you off and scam you. First of all, I bought my Kia Sorento here about a year used. Unbeknownst to me, they sent me home with a tire that had been patched instead of a new tire. Well, said tire exploded while I was driving across the Salt Flats. Then, recently, I had to bring my car in for the 60K service. I'd been under the impression that I had to bring it to a dealer for this service, in order to keep it under warranty. I called them for an appointment, as I live in Elko, NV (no Kia dealers here). The girl on the phone said that the 60K service would cost $350. I confirmed with her and set a date. I drove FOUR HOURS to get my car serviced. I got there and the guy told me it was going to be $955. I explained that I had been quoted $350 and he said that would only get me the transmission fluid changed. I again explained what the girl had said on the phone. He said he'd check the phone record. He sent me out to the lobby for TWENTY MINUTES while he checked the five minute phone call with his supervisor, then came back and told me that the girl hadn't included all the services in her quote. I told him that I'd explained exactly what I needed, so why did she supposedly not quote me for everything. He said it was a problem with the system and said the best he could do was $735. I had my husband call and rip him a new one, because I just couldn't deal with this dude anymore. He told him that we would not be returning, and we'd be making sure to let people know what a scam this place is. So here I am, doing that. Save your precious sanity and go somewhere else. Not only are they scam artists, but they'll put your life in danger. I was lucky that I was alone on the road when my tire popped, with no cars around me, because I could be dead. read more

I called and schedule a service a month in advance. I knew they would have to order some parts so I made sure to schedule early so they could get everything there by the time I dropped off my car. I dropped off my car a week early and then on the day of my appointment I didn't hear a thing. We barely walked in the door and Bailey met us and asked what we wanted. We walked right out to a car, test drove it and fell in love. Not exactly a vehicle that gets you instant attention from a salesman at a dealership. I was looking at used Jeeps. Skyler Sorensen came out and greeted me quickly and was very helpful. He came over from the Kia department. He walked around with me and found out what I was looking for and what I planned on doing with a Jeep. Turns out, he's a Jeep guy himself and was knowledgable on all the modifications on the used Jeeps and the significance on local terrain. Good info to have since I'm a recent transplant from Texas. I test drove a couple of Wranglers on the used lot. Each with modifications. I had the opportunity to drive varying degrees of lift and tires. All the used Wranglers were nice and clean, and great cars. I moved on to take a look at new and test drive there as well... I drove off in a new Jeep Wrangler Ultimate Sport. I was given more than a fair trade value for the old Jeep and after Skyler and I crunched #s the Jeeps I drove, I decided new was what I wanted. Financing was very appropriately handled and I never felt pressured in any direction while I was there. Brooke in the finance department was very informative and made sure everything was clear. I guess I should mention I've been thinking about upgrading for several months and have been to a few lots. New and used dealers. My experience at Doug Smith was great.
