I had a terrible experience. Received a text saying that my car was ready, so I was surprised to see my rear license plate completely mangled as I pulled into the KIA lot. I spoke with Rick and the girl in the service drive through, asking them why it was like that. The response I got was instantly shifting blame to the car wash workers, saying that they've told them over and over to remove license plates before washing. This did not sit well and I politely let them know. Shouldn't they have taken care of that before telling me to come get my car? What a great work environment where there's no sense of team and all your coworkers are quick to shift blame or call out the person at fault. And to the customer, no less! Speaking with the girl was a complete waste of time. There was no apology of any kind, nor did she offer to let me speak with someone that perhaps has some actual sway with the car wash team. Just quickly doing anything to get the blame off herself and her department. I've been in the customer service industry for over 10 years and this is not how you give excellent customer service. You might be thinking "dude, it's just a license plate", but it's so much more than that. If something as simple as a license plate is done halfway and left for the customer to notice it, I can no longer trust them to perform any kind of service on my vehicle. This is unfortunate, as my family and I have been customers here for over 10 years, purchasing multiple vehicles over this period of time. I don't want any compensation of any kind. I just want a dependable place where I can take my vehicles and have them serviced by responsible individuals who are mature enough to receive any feedback as if it directly affected them. Doug Smith is no longer a dependable place that can meet even these basic customer service standards. read more

I brought my Kia in to get serviced and only 2 employees out of 7-8 were wearing masks and several of these employees came within 6 feet of me. I am very disappointed as masks are mandatory as of now and yet nobody can be bothered to wear one. Yes, the service is good but I was very uncomfortable the whole time I was waiting for my car and even ended up waiting outside. WEAR A FUCKING MASK AND STOP BEING ASSHOLES. read more

Went to get my turn signal fixed because the light keeps on burning out. I told the mechanic that the signal light burns out every two months or so and I have to replace the bulbs but I just want to fix the wiring. The guy told me, "That is normal for a light to burn out that often." After more persuasion he said they would take a look at it. They charged me $100 for a diagnostic and $25 for parts and labor. Their diagnostic was, "no problem just a burned out bulb" 3 weeks later the light was out again. I went back in and told them they didn't fix the problem and I wanted the $25 back that they charged for changing a lightbulb. I have no problem with the sales team. I bought my Kia from Doug Smith and feel like I got a good deal. The Kia service/repair seem a bit dishonest. This wasn't the first time I'd had problems with them. read more

They even went out of their way to help us get insurance for the vehicles! http://youtu.be/iWf39lispTo After having my replacing the engine and catalytic converter in my 2007 Sonata, the fine mechanics at Doug Smith Kia forgot to fasten my brake hose and wheel sensor wires to to the front wheel hub/knuckle assembly so the brackets jingle around like sleigh bells. They also neglected to install a cotter pin on the spindle nut that keeps the front hub fastened to the drive axle. My hub bearings blew out as a result and my rotor and brake pads are also ruined. I could have lost my front wheel on the freeway which needless to say, is unsafe. Since the last week in December, they have sent me out with my car three times and each of those times, my car has failed within a day or two. This time, it was un-drivable in less than 24 hours of picking it up-- even after Brian the mechanic told me that he drove the car himself to make sure it was ready to go. Their service center does not care enough about their customers to pay attention to small but CRUCIAL details. read more

The vehicle is like new and we have not had any problems. The Kia warranties are unmatched and gave us added confidence in our purchase. Our experience with Doug Smith Kia completely changed that perception. Darin, our salesman (more like advocate) really worked with us to get exactly what we wanted and then some. He made sure he got us the price we needed. Dave and Ed, both managers, were warm and welcoming. They too, went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Even Michelle in financing made sure to get to know us. This dealership is an anomaly in the car buying world. Not only was everyone warm and friendly, they were all honest and upfront about things also. More importantly, they've made sure to keep up with us since we've purchased our Sorento. This is our third time using the service department and every time we have the exact same complaints. 1) it's expensive and with no explanation. In fact I was asked to sign a paper that didn't even show a price! I had to ask what I was signing and how much it was all without seeing a breakdown. I guess they figure I'm not going anywhere in a broken car! 2) the shuttle service would be great but you have to wait until they can fit you in. We scheduled an 8 am appointment because they told us the shuttle could manage getting the kids to school. Once we got there they told us someone called in sick and now there was no shuttle. A phone call to let us know could have fixed a very stressful morning but I guess they don't think that's their responsibility. And they ALWAYS take a long time to do anything. Just getting checked in and into the service department takes forever! 3) very poor customer service from the main guy at the device desk (the one who checks people in). He is always defensive and non-apologetic. He never tries to make things easier for you and definitely never apologizes. I'm getting more upset about how rude and dismissive he was as I think about it, and he has been that way everything we have come in. I think this was the last straw and we won't be back. And our repairs were easy--a battery replacement, a gas cap broken, and a door seal needing to be popped back on! I would hate to depend on this service department for anything that took real effort! update: Brian was wonderful--once he heard our predicament he really went to town and got us out of there in a reasonable amount of time. And he apologized. He is the only thing that makes me think we may be back. read more

Absolutely Terrible Service! We called ahead about a week in advance to set up an appointment to have a remote starter put in. The thing was basically a pretty basic wiring harness and on the directions it says that it will take 60 minutes to install. The quote over the phone said that we should plan for about 1-1.5 hours. We showed up and the service person told us that it will take 2.5-3 hours because there were non-appointment people that showed up in front of us. We had an appointment....We walked around and went to get something to eat. Then we came back right at 3 hours and they still were not done!!! The service guy said that he would go check on the car for us. He came back and said that they looked almost done but that he wasn't sure how much longer. He then said, "at least you know they will be done by 4pm because that is when they get off work!" So we waited and waited for our car and he came and told us that they were giving it a car wash. I didn't believe that so I walked out towards the garage and I saw them STILL working on the car! It was not in the car wash. We didn't get the car until 4:10pm. These guys are just ridiculous. I would rather have them just be honest up front and reschedule the appointment rather than wait around for over 4 hours for a job that should take 1 hour. The service people were nice and they couldn't really help it that it took so long but they knew exactly what was going on. Then to put a cherry on top, we left the dealership and they had taken down our apartments parking tag to install park of the wiring and it was not there. We called the dealership to ask if they still had it by chance and they said that the service department was closed and they told us to just call back Monday when it was open. We need that tag to park where we live! I would say that if you need service done to your car GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! These guys give you the run around, are slow, and don't keep you informed on the status of your vehicle. read more

The worst experience I've ever had with a dealership hands down. The service department, the customer service, even the managers are completely incapable of doing their job. Totally incompetent. We were in town on vacation from the east coast, when our car threw a rod. We got it towed there immediately on Monday morning, like they asked us to, it is now Wednesday. It has not even been looked at. They told us that they looked at it, took pictures of it and submitted it to the warranty department. Not so. They insist on communicating via email, won't talk to you personally if their life depended on it. We can't get a straight answer from anyone. We are basically stuck here, at their mercy. They haven't even once offered us a loaner or even the option to rent a car through them. We finally go in to talk to them face to face and they treat us like criminals, calling in backup to the front because they are scared of us or something. We are thirty somethings here on vaca with our children. I mean come on people. At the end of my rope with this dealership, and would never in a million years recommend them to anyone!!! We've had four different family member have trouble with the service department. Mostly with them saying we had to pay for services that we already paid for such as oil changes. Overall rating: 3 star 5 star: The sales team was great! Kolby helped us find what we were looking for, and was helpful and polite throughout negotiations and the entire process. He took our phone calls even on a day when he seemed to be out of the office, and was happy to answer all our questions. Other members of the sales team were very nice to me and my children, and I was impressed that one of them brought over his personal ipad with some kids shows on it for my kids when we couldn't find something appropriate on the television, while my husband was negotiating the car price. They opened doors for me and my kids and seemed friendly overall. Reason I only gave 3 stars: My husband and I were very displeased with the unprofessionalism demonstrated by the financial office - by whoever was working in the afternoon of 10/15/14. When we turned down an extended warranty for an additional cost of $1100, she put the pressure on and told us that we were the "only ones" who had ever chosen not to buy the extended warranty. Then she went on to tell us 2-3 times that she wasn't sure she knew how to fill out the paperwork without us buying the additional warranty - very unprofessional!!! Also, the same financial lady explained a theft protection plan that sounded as if it were included with the car purchase, never mentioning that she was charging us an additional $185 for that theft protection. We had to find the additional charge ourselves in the paperwork at the end, and ask what the charge was for, at which point the financial lady told us it was for the theft protection plan and that we "didn't have to have it". I would rate this company 5 stars if it were for the sales team. But having an unprofessional financial office that tries to sneak in extra fees and who gives the customer a hard time when trying to purchase a vehicle at a previously agreed-upon price, places a blemish on the entire company. read more
