Kody, the bartender in the Lobby was the sole reason we'd come back here again!! He was so accommodating, helpful, and super fun to talk to and be around! We went down for one drink, but because he was so great we ended up having several rounds! Our room felt dated, and not super cleaned, but because of Kody, this will be our go to spot forever in the future! We've stayed at multiple hotels on our trip, and he was by far the best employee of anyone we encountered out of all of them! THANK YOU FOR BEING SO AMAZING KODY!!! We can't wait to come back for another long weekend and see you again!!

My family and I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix - Gilbert Arizona from Saturday evening until Wednesday during Christmas week. When we arrived at the hotel, the check-in process was easy, however, we were not notified of all of the amenities or benefits during our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix. We were provided physical cards and went to the room, located on the 3rd floor. It was a [2] queen bed with a sofa bed. There were only a few rooms like this at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix - Gilbert. We noticed that a few items were missing such as shampoo, conditioner, soaps, and an extra blanket for the sofa bed on our arrival. We had called into the front receptionist area requesting the missing items. It took about 3 hours for someone to come up to the room. We did ask the front desk if it was easier for us just to pick up the items at the receptionist area, but our family was informed just to wait in the room. The room was slightly outdated with an old AC system. It was relatively loud. The walls are thin as well. We could hear our neighbors and the traffic outside. During the first day of the stay, we noticed there was no warm water!! The water was so cold! When we woke up and went down on the second day to inform the staff that there was no warm water, we were informed to just let the water run for 20 minutes! My family and I are from Las Vegas, and we're used to conserving water. This was relatively alarming. During our entire stay, we had no warm water at this hotel!!! We took extremely quick showers during our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix - Gilbert. There was construction down in the lobby and certain doors were not functioning to the pool area. Breakfast is available for an additional cost or included in your hotel stay if you booked with a breakfast package. The breakfast package only comes with one option which is their continental breakfast. This includes an option of eggs, sausage or bacon, toast, and a drink (orange juice or apple juice). Service was quick and easy! The team member who was at the bar area each day was friendly and helpful. There is one pool that is heated with an attached spa. Towels are complimentary for the pool area. The workout facility had some basic equipment, and everything was functioning appropriately. As we were visiting friends in the SanTan area, this hotel is one of the closest to that location. It's near the SanTan mall which has a variety of food options and attractions. Parking spots are spacious and free at this hotel. I wish that the team at the DoubleTree would have informed us that there was no hot water working at this hotel, otherwise, we would have stayed at a different Hilton hotel in the area. It would have made our trip a lot more enjoyable!

What a disappointment staying here as a Diamond member. Checked in and their system was down so digital keys didn't work. Which was fine however the keys given only worked one day. I stayed here for 3 nights and had to go downstairs every evening to get my card re-keyed. It was inconvenience especially after a long day having to go downstairs and wait as no one's at the front desk. Rooms were run down, but was ok. Bed was comfortable and rooms were clean. The vent systems is SO LOUD and you can't turn it off as the rooms gets very warm. Oh and no housekeeping ! No one tells you this when you check in. So if you are like me at a hotel to throw your towels on the floor after one use, you may wanna hold on to them at this hotel. I had to call to get fresh towels. Front desk, Amelia was so nice she offered cookies and water when she was there and greeted everyone with a hello and smile. Few others there barely made eye contact and you would have to ask for cookies or water. I have stayed at other Hinton double tree and was very surprised by this one not living up to expectations. Restaurant in the lobby was decent. Huge breakfast portions and good service. Locations of this hotel is the only good thing. You are across from Top Golf and 10-15min walk to a huge shopping area. There are tons of great restaurants around which you can Uber to.

I booked through Priceline...not a cheap rate. In the photo are "features" of the room I was assigned. I was not impressed. Only here for a few days as I relocate for my current company... Actually thought I was going to get nice ambience in a relaxing room. Front desk manager friendly, but this room for the money, not a good value... I would not stay here again and it makes me re-think the Double Tree brand...

Two Queen Room (notice the light seeping in from above the window plus the lack of decor/furniture)

Unfortunately, this hotel has begun to go downhill a bit. I have visited this hotel a few times since my initial review, and I have encountered several issues. There are definitely some pluses to this hotel, such as the amenities, insanely comfortable beds, and warm/welcoming staff. The location is also ideal. Though the cons are beginning to outweigh the pros. As I mentioned previously, renovations took place. Over a year later, renovations are still incomplete. I am unsure if rooms are complete or not, but they certainly feel a bit odd (large, empty space in the room and in the walls, modern furniture combined with dates dressers and headboards, etcetera). Also, some technology is still a bit dated, such as the air conditioning units and televisions. Further, the lack of attention to detail is still there, with new window blinds not covering the full window or paintings hung up crooked or even the shower curtain missing a layer, etcetera. On my most recent stay, the water boiler burst. This meant no hot water (I was not notified ahead of arrival despite it being broken for weeks ahead of time). Then, when maintenance finally came several days into my stay, they found a broken valve, meaning not hot OR cold water for hours outside of the designated repair time. I was forced to move to the nearby Tru hotel. This is, simply put, unacceptable, especially since staff at Tru told me that these issues had been forcing guests to relocate for WEEKS. As far as other issues I have encountered over the years: -Fire alarm going off due to construction -Smell of marijuana in cleaned rooms -Pool lights/heat broken -Key card reader batteries dead -Blood and rust-stained shower curtain I really hope that this hotel begins to improve, as it has so much potential. All it really needs is a good overhaul of its facilities and everything will be great. Until then, I will likely begin to look elsewhere.

Bathroom

The rate being charged for this hotel is absurd . This is not even a 1 star . Dirty and smelly . I am a lifetime diamond member and this is the worst property I have ever stayed at . A waste of using my points for this hotel .

Sounds crazy, I know, but we just needed to do something 'different' this weekend. We used to have a restaurant called Bravo in Indiana and they have a sister restaurant called Brio in Gilbert. There is also the huge San Tan Village outdoor mall to explore in the same spot. So, we decided to make a full day of it and just stay at the Doubletree, which is walking distance to the mall. ~$225/night for a King Junior suite, we chose a room at the end of the hall so we'd only have neighbors on one side. They seemed fairly full; and seems a ball team (high school I think) was here as well. The room was clean, sealed to enter, remote control was in a sanitized bag. Bed was super comfortable as well as quality pillows. Staff wore masks that we saw, there is hand sanitizer inside the front door and signs everywhere saying to wear a mask. Staff did NOT enforce other customers wearing masks, so there was awkward discomfort at times. The bartender was fantastic- we ordered dinner (burger and hummus plate) and then breakfast (was free as a diamond) and har eggs, bacon; potatoes, sourdough etc. all good. Nice guy and he works hard :). Bartender is a 5, the hotel is a 1, this the 3 score. Now to the downsides, this place is really run down. Shabby, beat up; no other words. The tub caulking was gross, the shower stream is like standing under a garden hose. The couch is sunken in the middle- it was comical trying to watch TV without both of us 'sinking' into the center of the couch. The pool was nice and there were plenty of places to sit outside and have a glass of wine. Tons of teens in the pool playing chicken, so didn't swim, but they were having fun, all good. Also, the road noise is horrendous if you're on the east facing side (even numbers). Even with the AC unit on continuous fan, wow. The upside is you have a fantastic view of the sunrise over the mountains- trying to still find a silver lining :) Definitely not worth what we paid, BUT, the weather was glorious; we enjoyed our Brio lunch, and walked the entire mall just to absorb the sunshine.

Rooms are clean and housekeeping is REALLY on top of things. They were trying to get in my room to clean almost every day. I'm not a fan of having it done that often, but I'm sure some would rejoice. It's hard to get your room freshened up in most places even when you ask. The one downside is that the breakfast was a bit subpar compared to other home2's I've visited. They had all the same staples, but there's usually a standard of freshness that I've come to expect. A lot of the breakfast sandwiches and such seemed almost recycled, like they had been taken off the rack and reheated multiple days in a row. Same goes for the breakfast bowls, on top of just being a bit bland and tasteless.

The shower had hair in it, the water never got warmer than lukewarm, the shower gel dispenser was empty, and there was an obvious spill on the floor next to the bed that hadn't been cleaned. To make matters worse, the front desk clerk would only speak to my husband and completely ignored me, even though I was asking the questions. I found that incredibly rude and unprofessional. We've decided we won't be staying here again. We'll be taking our business to the DoubleTree near the Marketplace instead. This experience was so disappointing that we're checking out early and driving home rather than spending another night here.

After driving 6 hours from San Diego, I went to the front desk to get extra keys and ask questions. I was greeted with a sign that read something like "we have stepped away from the desk but will return soon...." So I waited about 5 minutes and nobody came. There was no bell to ring or anyway to get attention. Then I noticed someone in the office wearing AirPods and on their phone. I walked closer so they could see me out of the corner of their eye and they came out and greeted me. She was very friendly which was nice, and I get that it was late but I feel like she could have been more aware of people coming to the desk, and maybe that someone leave a note letting her know there would be guests arriving late. We got to our room and it was nice and clean. The beds were comfy and we slept. The next day we went to breakfast and the chef was very accommodating for my daughter who has celiac. They made a fresh gluten free omelet for her on a clean pan. As we were getting ready to go out for the day, I went to get some ice and as I walking into the hall I noticed a maid with a clipboard. I told her I would like to have our room made up while we were gone for the day and asked if I should remove our dnd sign now, or wait until we left. She said "wait until you leave, we'll be sure to make up your room". We left around 12:30 and returned around 10:30pm. We came back to our room and it was not serviced at all. I called down to the front desk and asked to have towels brought up. I was told we had to come down to the desk to get them because they didn't have anyone to bring them up. The next day as we were departing around 8am, my daughter and I went down to the lobby to get Starbucks for the road. It was not open. With a sign right in front the read, open daily 6:00am... Then the front desk lady walked over apologetically and informed us that the Starbucks would not be open but if we wanted just a regular coffee they could take care of us at the restaurant. I said no... she apologized again. 1. If you are expecting guests arriving late. Be ready for them when they arrive. 2. If a guests specifically asks you to have their room made up and you assure them it will, then follow through and make sure that happens 3. Hire someone to make room runs, you're a Hilton not a motel 6 4. If you're going to have a Starbucks in your lobby, make sure you have people to run it. Or remove the sign that says Open daily.

He said I should notify the hotel for future guests. I called and confirmed we did not need a code for the medical discount. (We needed the code at a diff hotel in Scottsdale.) When we checked in, I verified we were there for medical reasons and asked what the rate was. He said we would get it at checkout. I have never stayed in a hotel that would not tell me the rate upfront. He ran my CC, but said it would not be charged until we checked out. (I did not prepay) Upon check out, the GM, Tammy would not honor the medical discount. She said because I made the reservation via Expedia, she could not give me the discount (even though I called ahead, and was told when we checked in that we would be on a medical discount rate). Luckily it was only a 3-night stay - but I was mad enough with just those days being at a higher rate. House keeping did not clean our room on the scheduled day. Although we will need to return in 6 months, location is perfect - close to medical facility and restaurants... We will never return to this hotel.

We came…read moreto town to attend two family events a 40th birthday and a funeral& life celebration for a young man who lost his battle with brain cancer . The trip from LA was treacherous as we ran into a dust storm which kept us at a stand still on the 10 freeway for about 2 1/2 hours . We arrived totally exhausted about 9pm but was greeted by the friendly front desk staff & check in was a breeze . We didn't get to use the pool or hot tub (which I needed) because some kids a few days before kept turning off the emergency switch and the hotel has to drain & refill the pool as it turned green. Pool was ready on Thursday afternoon but we were in the thick of events by then so no pool for us. Room choices were slim so we had a standard king. Several things play a part in the scarcity of hotel rooms and pricing, typically AZ is another spring break hot spot and with several baseball grapefruit league games , there was a lacrosse tournament in town add snowbird season and cha ching 3 star hotels as expensive as 5 on a normal day. getting a choice room was quite difficult. This hotel was immaculately clean. I can't say if the dust on my feet was from the overall atmosphere of the dusty desert or the carpet was dirty but i'll lean on the atmospheric situation since every other portion of our stay was perfect and clean!! Did not find any strange hairs in the bed, bathroom or even on the carpet . Amazingly, the bed was super comfortable - firm/hard as a rock just like i like it ! No aches and pains. Pillows are king size and they give you 4 per room. There are several barriers on the bed which I will assume is to protect from any type of infestation in the mattress so rest well here , no bed bugs or other creepy crawlers anywhere in the room. The shower is walk in and quite ample , water pressure was good on 3rd floor but the shower head was lame and took a few rinses even with my short hair to get conditioner out. The AC/heat thermostat was easy to maneuver and easy to regulate the room temp. No balconies and the windows do not open. The black out curtains can be a little wonky but we fixed them ourselves as they kept derailing (maintence check room 338) We did notice an exhaust fan in the bathroom ceiling but there wasn't a switch to turn it on ? The hotel furnishes a makeup wipe, dove bar soap and BBBodyworks brand of body wash, shampoo & conditioner . The shampoo pump was broken in room 338 so you might have housekeeping check this out. In the closet there is a small safe , An Iron, ironing board , microwave, kurig coffee maker (so bring your own pods if you please) generous fridge that even kept our ice packs frozen through a 3 night stay. Just remember to turn the fridge up when you arrive . This is a great business hotel . I believe we saw at least 4 computers in private lobby area our room had more USB plugs and outlets that I've not seen at any other hotel. We generally travel with an extra power strip . You won't need it here there are at least 6 USB plugs . Maintenance should Check the nightstand USB on left side of bed as previous guests forced/ pushed the connector in on a slant so we couldn't use those . The included breakfast includes just about anything you could want , two flavors of yogurt , 3 types of cold cereal . hot oatmeal (yummy) with brown sugar cranberries and pecans to add in. Hot cinnamon rolls, make your own pancakes and cheese and veggie mini omelets . there were 3/4 choices of juices and each day the meat selection was either turkey patties and bacon or TP and pork sausage links . They bacon and the pork links were so yummy ! our last day they offers biscuits but they were like rocks and didn't offer gravy so not sure what that point was . Coffee & tea is 24 hours . Breakfast buffet hours differ weekdays/weekends so check the times i believe it was 9:30 weekdays & 10:00 weekends . This was close to our family and had several conveniences close by so we will definitely return to this hotel next time we stay in Mesa area.

Clean hotel with tasty breakfast items…read more The location wasn't close to any attractions but it was nearby restaurants, fast food chains, and a grocery store. There was also a small shop at the entrance selling snacks and chargers. Check-in was a bit slow as they had difficulty finding my reservation. However, the receptionists were always kind and helpful. The 2 queen bed room was spacious and included a microwave, mini fridge, coffee machine, hangers, and an iron. The bathroom had communal soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a note on the sink stating that other toiletries were also available upon request. I wished there was more toilet paper was included as there was only one extra roll. There was a sufficient number of towels for the sink and shower. However, I found the shower to be difficult to start as the shower pin was stuck. The shower knob was also labeled backwards as the "H" was on the side of cold water instead of hot. The bed and pillows were soft and supported. The bedsheets were clean but could have been thicker. I enjoyed the easy access to outlets and lighting from the convenience of my bed. The TV was large and there was a decent number of channels available. Breakfast was simple yet executed well. The omelets were light and fluffy. Potatoes weren't always served but it was a good day when they were. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. Sausages were juicy and bacon was crispy. There was also fruit juices and coffee available. Other items included cinnamon rolls, cereal, oatmeal, and made to order pancakes. I would have loved healthier items like fresh fruit but the spread was more than sufficient for me. Although others enjoy actual dishware, the disposable plates and utensils made it easy to eat on the go. Would stay here again when visiting Mesa or Gilbert. Clean and priced appropriately and still one of my favorite breakfast options.
