Clean room
Tommy M.

Upon arrival I met Ashley who was super helpful and welcoming. She recognized immediately that I was a diamond member and thanked me. That's refreshing many Hilton properties neglect that small piece. She offered me what snacks I wanted. Easy to check in. She gave me the run down of all the areas and when breakfast was, pool location, etc. Went up to my room and was pleased with how clean the room was. No issues. Very odd plumbing in shower but nothing to complain about. If there was one thing I was taken back by was the diamond parking is very oddly placed. It's spread out in different areas that don't really feel diamond. All hotels I've stayed at normally put it in the front and they are all together. Must be a reason for this for this location but again not something to complain about. I'm sitting in the very clean, hot jacuzzi while writing this review. Pool looks very nice and clean. Even has a little water fall I see. Overall I have to call out Ashely as she has been so awesome. Text to see how my room was, responded to my text about the jacuzzi quickly. Give this girl a raise. I feel very welcomed.

Little visitors

We had unexpected guests at our stay recently. The little guys made a meal out of my husband. He's taking home some souvenirs from East Mesa. We were given a new room around 2am. The next morning my husband was instructed to call the manager as his day starts at 9am, a couple of hours after we checked out. We were compensated a whooping 5000 pts to a future stay. That's like $30. I was disappointed in the way this property handled this gross situation. I'm not the pickiest, but I'm not sharing my bed with flesh eating cave dwellers. lol. What can improve? Maybe clean the bedding? Take responsibility?

The touch-less sanitizer dispensers that I passed multiple times throughout my stay were always empty. My room had a Samsung TV, and the provider was DirecTV. The 36-button non-lighted remote had no instructions and was frustrating to use. The TV screen blinked often and was annoying. I tried to cast YouTube TV from my phone, but since it was not a Smart TV, I ended up watching TV on my laptop instead. At the buffet breakfast, I noticed an odd-looking stacked pile of thin omelets that were all the same size. I was curious and scooped one onto my plate. After I sliced it open and saw it was a frozen microwaved omelet filled with cheese, I threw it out. Next, I scooped up the softest scrambled eggs I ever had onto my plate. I needed to get a spoon to eat them since my fork did not work. The scrambled eggs were barely yellow, tasteless, and seemed as if it is diluted with milk. The TV cabinet has self-close door hinges are not adjusted properly and have no door bumpers. If I did not hold the small pull-handle tightly when I close it manually, it would slam shut loudly. What is most interesting, is that I heard the exact same slamming sound from the rooms next to me. My room was the noisiest I ever had. I could hear footsteps from guests walking above me, guests speaking and their TVs in the rooms around me, cabinet doors slamming around me, and occasionally trucks on the nearby US-60 in the late evening. My room had a type of pull-up facial tissue that was new to me. Instead of a box, it had a sealed plastic bag that was inside the decorative tissue box that was permanently stuck. Their inferior 1-ply toilet paper works well in the hotel plumbing but disintegrates when using it. On the positive side, the WiFi worked very well and there were no parking fees.

Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Food was typical for hotel. Worst thing was staff in kitchen were rude and nasty..

They went above and beyond to find me a crib by asking nearby hotels-lifesavers. So appreciated!

They had no free water for us to take to room. No alcohol to buy from hotel store. The morning coffee in the breakfast area tasted like weak brown water. That's the #1 'extra' ALL travelers look forward to having. For a NEW hotel...where's the designer coffee bar...and a little alcohol for us weary travelers?! Not coming back.

I just wanted to tell you how great the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Gilbert Mesa Gateway Airport…read moreis! It started off when I had a reservation for 3 days and called them and wanted to extend it a day. I had the Good Fortune of getting Taylor. When I asked her how much it would cost to add one day she very nicely asked me to hold on while she checked to see if I would qualify for any discounts. She took the extra time needed and found a discount that I would qualify for that made it so the extra day didn't cost that much more! I was extremely impressed with her customer service, her diligence, and her over and above efforts in order to save me money! Above all, during the whole time, she was so friendly and just a very nice person to work with. She took care of me as if I were her own grandpa! She was awesome! Then when we got there we had both Cash and Alan helping us check in and were two very nice young men! One of the things that had me excited about staying there was how on their website I saw the breakfast that was provided and it looked absolutely delicious. I wondered if it was really as good as it looked in the website. When we got there, it was even better! We met Bill who made sure we had plenty of food and was extremely nice and helpful along with the rest of the staff in the kitchen and serving area! The hotel was beautiful, it was clean, the food was absolutely delicious, and everybody treated us like family! Every time I talked to one of them they would tell me, if there was anything else they could do for us to please let them know! There was no doubt in my mind they meant what they said! I can't say enough good about all of them but especially Taylor who spent so much time trying to help me out! We had a wonderful time and I would recommend anybody who needs to stay anywhere near that area to give them a call and set up a reservation! With much appreciation, Wilford (Bill) Allen

An amazingly friendly staff who aim to please 2. Nicely maintained indoor & outdoor areas 3. Comfy cabana area poolside 4. Super comfy bed mattress 5. The complimentary breakfast was quite nice with a good number of choices 6. The marketplace was well stocked with a large assortment of munchies and drinks to purchase Things I would change: 1. No in-room coffee makers. I don't like having to schlep down to the lobby first thing in the morning to get my coffee fix 2. The rooms lack storage for non-hanging clothing 3. The bed pedestals are "shin killers". You have to be very careful walking around the bed because the bed linens conceal the rigid wood corners of the pedestal, making it pretty likely you're going to smash a shin into it at some point during your stay 4. The provided pillows are anything but firm and do not provide any head support. If I'm on a budget and need to stay in the Gilbert area again sometime, I would definitely consider this hotel for a future stay.

I called the night before in a hectic moment, and Nate was incredibly patient, kind, and focused on helping me. While waiting in the lobby, I saw him treat every guest -- families, older travelers, younger guests -- with the same genuine enthusiasm and respect. After years of traveling, I can honestly say he's one of the best front desk associates I've ever encountered.

He said I should notify the hotel for future guests. I called and confirmed we did not need a code for the medical discount. (We needed the code at a diff hotel in Scottsdale.) When we checked in, I verified we were there for medical reasons and asked what the rate was. He said we would get it at checkout. I have never stayed in a hotel that would not tell me the rate upfront. He ran my CC, but said it would not be charged until we checked out. (I did not prepay) Upon check out, the GM, Tammy would not honor the medical discount. She said because I made the reservation via Expedia, she could not give me the discount (even though I called ahead, and was told when we checked in that we would be on a medical discount rate). Luckily it was only a 3-night stay - but I was mad enough with just those days being at a higher rate. House keeping did not clean our room on the scheduled day. Although we will need to return in 6 months, location is perfect - close to medical facility and restaurants... We will never return to this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and clean, a little dated, but comfortable. The staff was friendly enough. I had to check out of my room but still had time before my flight and needed to take some meetings. The downstairs lobby area has plenty of seating and even little nooks where you can sit and work and not be disturbed. I never go down for the breakfast, but they had some decent options in their market if you are arriving late and need a little snacky snack. If you're looking for an easy and convenient space to stay, I recommend. I mean I think most people know what they are getting with a Residence Inn, but just in case the nice thing is you do get a small kitchen and there is usually some living space separate from the bed. I really felt like I had a ton of room to spread out.

Clean hotel with tasty breakfast items…read more The location wasn't close to any attractions but it was nearby restaurants, fast food chains, and a grocery store. There was also a small shop at the entrance selling snacks and chargers. Check-in was a bit slow as they had difficulty finding my reservation. However, the receptionists were always kind and helpful. The 2 queen bed room was spacious and included a microwave, mini fridge, coffee machine, hangers, and an iron. The bathroom had communal soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a note on the sink stating that other toiletries were also available upon request. I wished there was more toilet paper was included as there was only one extra roll. There was a sufficient number of towels for the sink and shower. However, I found the shower to be difficult to start as the shower pin was stuck. The shower knob was also labeled backwards as the "H" was on the side of cold water instead of hot. The bed and pillows were soft and supported. The bedsheets were clean but could have been thicker. I enjoyed the easy access to outlets and lighting from the convenience of my bed. The TV was large and there was a decent number of channels available. Breakfast was simple yet executed well. The omelets were light and fluffy. Potatoes weren't always served but it was a good day when they were. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. Sausages were juicy and bacon was crispy. There was also fruit juices and coffee available. Other items included cinnamon rolls, cereal, oatmeal, and made to order pancakes. I would have loved healthier items like fresh fruit but the spread was more than sufficient for me. Although others enjoy actual dishware, the disposable plates and utensils made it easy to eat on the go. Would stay here again when visiting Mesa or Gilbert. Clean and priced appropriately and still one of my favorite breakfast options.
