I am completely shocked by half the reviews on here. Maybe some folks just are use to staying in extremely fancy hotels I don't know. I live about 3 blocks from the Double Tree and I have stayed here now 3 times in a month and a half that's how much I love this hotel. The first 1 trip I only stayed Friday night. The front desk staff was extremely nice on the phone. I was going through a really rough patch and just needed a night to myself. She was very pleasant when I arrived and offered me the fabulous cookie and got me a room on the first floor at the end of the hall as requested. The rooms are beautiful.
I stayed in a JR suite, The room was clean....The upholstery is beautiful and the beds OMG are to die for. The bathroom was clean and comfortable to actual take a bath in unlike other hotels. You have several tv channels to choose from which was nice and anyone who complained about noise must be joking. This is by far the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. I never once in all 3 stays heard anyone in a neighboring room or in the hall. just an occasional door shut. The bartender is a very friendly guy and I was able to bring my laptop to the bar to work. He came to check up on me often and bring me new drinks as soon as I finished the last. I slept like a baby and of course didn't want to leave
The second time I stayed Fri-Sun on the first floor at the opposite side of the hotel. Also A Jr suite...clean as usual....quiet as always and I managed to get a lot of work done on this stay. I knew after 2 stays I had to spend my Anniversary here.
2 weeks ago I rented out the honeymoon suite and my boyfriend came into town from California. We stayed Fri-Sun and once again the staff was friendly, the room was immaculate and the decor stunning. I had no idea the honeymoon suite had a dual shower head which was amazing!!! The wooden furniture is beautiful, the fireplace was fantastic and the 22' ceiling makes you feel like you woke up in someones mansion.
The only downside to my stay in the 3 total times I was there was in the honeymoon suite. I tried the whirlpool tub before my boyfriend arrived and well the faucet is slow and takes forever to fill the tub and once I turned the jets on I had black stuff floating in the water. No idea what it was so I got out and drained it. Refilled again and still noticed them just less of them so I tediously scooped them out till finally it was clean. I did not want my boyfriend to freak out in the tub when he did arrive. I did not let the staff know as I figured it wasn't that big of an issue for me and its a whirlpool maybe thats normal.
The only other issue was the cable. For some reason the tv above the fireplace is stuck with the closed caption on and its very slow at changing channels. I finally gave up and just watched the tv in front of the bed. Neither issues were worth complaining over to me and I enjoyed the rest of my weekend. I love this hotel and it's staff and since it is so close to my home I plan on being a regular. I am a busy business owner and this is the perfect place for me to spend quite time working on designing. The lady at the front desk also remembered what I do for a living and even asked how business was when I came the third time. It was nice that she did listen to me and made our conversations more personal. My new home away from home read more
