I needed a new radio console installed along with routine oil change, differential fluid, tire…read morerotation, etc. at the dealership for our 2015 Subaru Outback. AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.

I came here almost 3 years ago, and I've honestly been putting off writing this review because I…read morereally don't like giving bad reviews. But I finally decided to share my experience because I think it's important to warn future customers, especially those who don't have a lot of extra money to spare. The good: There's a shuttle service for customers, which is convenient. The driver was very cheerful and interested in having conversations with customers, which made the ride interesting. The staff members were polite, and the lobby has free coffee for customers. The terrible: I chose this place for my car inspection because of the positive ratings on Yelp and Google. But alas, the mechanic who inspected my car quoted me $1k+ for a part that was actually in perfect condition and failed my inspection. When I asked where the leak was, the rep said the part was shiny, and that indicated a leak. A few days later, a family member who is a mechanic inspected the part and confirmed that it was, in fact, in perfect condition. So he took my car back to this place for a re-inspection. When questioned, the reps couldn't point out a single leak on that part, and they passed him. Folks, please be careful, especially if you're a woman or someone who doesn't know much about cars. Based on my experience, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. My advice: Question every part they claim has failed, leaked, or broken. Heck, ask them to walk you over and show you exactly where the part has "failed." If you're familiar with car mechanics and have the tools, inspect your car thoroughly beforehand so you know the condition of your car before handing it over for an inspection. And if you don't know much about cars, bring a friend or family member who does. Having someone knowledgeable with you can help you ask questions and better understand what the mechanic is telling you. I'm honestly very disappointed with BA Auto. I went in expecting an honest inspection, and this experience left me questioning their integrity. I'm finally posting this after almost 3 years because I hope it helps someone else avoid a similar experience.

More recently I had my alternator replaced, less than a week later my car would stall out when I came to a stop. After speaking with Connie she told me to bring it in. Das quoted me $584.00 (including oil change) to replace the alternator. I then got a quote from another auto shop close by who was $120.00 less. When I went to pick up my car, DAS charged me $52.00 to just look at my car (their "diagnostic fee"), when I questioned the charge they told me the problem had nothing to do with the alternator. This fee was never disclosed to me up front. Nearly all businesses tell you what fees and costs are associated before they touch your car. Apparently this doesn't apply to DAS. This place has gone down hill over the years, not sure if it's the expansion and/or the front desk person they now need to pay for but I've never had issues here until the change in mngmt. Stay away from this place or be sure to ask for charges up front!!! My sister also brought her car in for electrical issue with windows. After paying for repairs she continued to have the same issue a month later. When she brought it back they charged her again to fix it. They clearly don't honor their work! This is just a few of many other issues. Also they charge more for an oil change than the dealership!!

If you need auto-body work or repairs done anywhere in…read moreor near the DMV, this is the BEST quality work money can buy and their attention to detail will make the end results impeccable and flawless. We've brought 3 different vehicles here in the past 6 months and every one of them was dropped off pretty banged up and received back like it was brand new from the car dealership. What's most noteworthy is that they won't try to nickel and dime you or trump up exorbitant costs and fees. Instead, they're honest and straightforward and operate with a level of integrity that is truly unmatched. Pricing here was very fair and reasonable considering they are hands down, the best body repair shop we've ever used. I visited many body shops, read countless reviews, looked through hundreds of pictures, and asked a ton of questions before deciding which one I wanted to have do some repairs at Christmas time and the owner of this shop is truly what set Carbody apart from all the others. He worked tirelessly with the insurance adjusters to ensure the repairs were able to be completed with all the best quality parts and not just refurbished ones as well as went above and beyond our expectations by handling the interactions between our insurance company and the rental car provider he already had a corporate relationship / account with. Going through an accident can be stressful and frustrating, but getting to experience the amazing services and repair work from Carbody collision center was a great highlight from it all and I can't say enough kind words about Bob Gload and his family owned and operated for over 30 years, business team. We would never put our vehicles into the hands of another body shop after having work done from these guys. Lastly, while they are typically closed on weekends, Bob and his team even worked 7 days a week through COVID-19 to support essential workers through this pandemic which is a testament to their work ethic and commitment to helping our community. Highly recommend them!

Introduction to why I was here:…read more About to wrap up the 2nd of the two 2024 runner-ups now with C is for Carbody Collison Center, in alphabet series and will be getting to 2025 picks + runner-ups simultaneously. In October 2023 while on 495 on near the PG/Montgomery County border, hundreds of motorcyclists were causing chaos and very slow traffic on that Sunday gathering on the side blocking lane and lane splitting between the slow cars. This was insane and incredibly annoying. One of the motorcyclists rammed into my car while lane-splitting. He flipped his motorcycle. He picked up his motorcycle stumbled off to the side, and I tried to get the heck out of there as I didn't want to risk my safety with this awful motorcycle gang. Once I got to where I was going about 45 minutes later, I saw the damage, which wasn't horrible, but it wasn't just some minor nick. Visits here: That next day or two, I shopped around a bit in Laurel & North Laurel, and Carbody Collison had a better rate than the others. Also, Bob was kind and empathic to what happened. It wasn't urgent, but it could become a problem more so in winter because of snow/road salting as bottom part had to be replaced. I wanted to wait to see if insurance would go through, but they refused to cover it. Ultimately, that January 2024 we started the process, but it was going to take some time to get the part needed and would take them some time to do all the repairs. We agreed I'd drop the car off when I was going out of town; I rideshared to BWI airport. A week later I got back to town. Although they had agreed on finishing by then, there was something that was delayed even though we had agreed I come back that Friday afternoon, which I took a rideshare to get from my place to there, which isn't that far. Bob was nice enough to at least let me use a loaner car as I had a couple of other things I was doing, drove home, and then came back in the late afternoon. There was a bit of a tiff over windshield wipers they had replaced, which I thought was going to be cheaper, which I said I didn't agree to that much. He didn't want to continue to too much arguing and credited for either free or nominal price. I drove off to Columbia where I was going that evening. As I was driving back on MD-32 at US 1, I heard a loud noise like something was scrapping on the road. I got off at the next exit and went to the Savage MARC train station parking garage to see what was going on. I saw the piece hanging down. I snapped back in place, which got me home. But then the next day, I went down again, I stopped at a place in Laurel that I knew was open on Saturday. They did a temporary fix to get me through the weekend. I revisited on Monday, explained what happened. Bob apologized seeing what was going on; some screw was missing. He quickly got the staff to put back in while I waited there. In summary, Bob was overall nice & empathic except for a bit of heated discussion over price of an unrelated windshield wiper. I liked the price relative to other places (although I still didn't like as it wasn't cheap). They did a good job overall, but the missing bolt issue was annoying. They did a good job on timelines, but still a bit off on that, but at least got the loaner car for that afternoon as they were wrapping stuff up. This was mostly positive, and while there were some negatives, Bob did do a good job alleviating the negatives.

I want to thank Ethan, the service manager, for taking the time out of his busy day to personally call me and explain the company's position regarding my review. I appreciate the effort to clarify the misunderstanding. According to Ethan, the business does not require payment upfront. Instead, the text we received was a pre-approval link meant to inform us of the potential cost following a diagnostic. Unfortunately, this wasn't clearly communicated during my original call with Lou. If he had mentioned that we'd receive a text requiring approval before any work could be done--and that payment would only be due after the diagnostic--I would not have left a one-star review. From a customer's perspective, receiving a $200+ link without prior explanation understandably creates the impression that payment is required in advance. This was a clear miscommunication, and I'm willing to chalk it up as such. That said, I strongly recommend the business makes this process more transparent in future calls. Customers should be clearly told: 1. They will receive a text with a pre-approval link. 2. No payment is due until after the diagnostic is complete. In today's climate, transparency is critical, and many customers--like myself--may feel uneasy approving charges before their vehicle has even been seen. While I still haven't had any work done here, I want to be fair. Ethan's call helped clarify the process, and for that reason, I'm updating my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. My intention has never been to tarnish this business--only to share my honest experience. I hope this feedback helps them improve communication with future customers and avoid similar misunderstandings. Thank you again.
