We went to Double D's for our first breakfast in Gold Beach. The simple decor is an indication of where the owners put their emphasis -- on the food! Great coffee. Which is one of the secrets of a great breakfast place. We both had two-egg omelets and we're glad we did (rather than the three eggs) -- they were HUGE and really stuffed with our selections. I loved the hash browns, which were very home made and super tasty. Service was super efficient and was never without a smile. Stopped for breakfast and had a very good experience. The staff was nice and helpful. The waitress recommended a sausage patty instead of links and she was right. Eggs, sausage and hash browns, a good tasting meal. My wife had an omelet which she enjoyed quite a bit. This is a place where the locals come in, grab a cup of coffee, hug the waitress and sit down. Staying in town for a few days and did a Yelp search and this restaurant came up. The biscuits and gravy are out of this world, but the true winner for me is the hash browns and sausage patty! Eggs perfectly cooked! The staff is fun and friendly and it is very clean and just a fun place to go for breakfast. So good we are coming back for breakfast tomorrow!!!! So good! Was in Gold Beach looking at property. Before leaving stopped at DD for breakfast. I had the eggs and country fried steak with hashbrowns. Came here because of the Yelps, but did not have the same stellar experience. While my husband's omelet and O'Brien potatos were quite good, my waffle was dry and flavorless...turns out they precook and freeze them. Bacon was also obviously cooked much earlier and kept warm. My "soft scrambled" eggs were thoroughly solid and folded up from cooking, unstirred, on the grill or pan bottom. Altogether, my breakfast would keep me from returning. read more

When a cafe has excellent quality bacon, it says something about their commitment to excellence. The food was awesome and the bacon was fantastic! Everything was fresh and made from scratch. Hash browns, french fries... everything. That's something you don't find everywhere. The owner and his daughter were friendly, polite and the service was great. The decor is dated and shabby, but really... who cares? It was very clean, warm and inviting and the food was excellent and fairly priced. Last summer, I was on the coast further up north and ran into one of the local characters named Wick. He invited me to breakfast at Double D's a few days later, when I was coming through his town at Gold Beach. We hooked up and he fed me a fabulous meal, I don't know if it was the great food, the great service, or the great conversation at the Round (Locals) Table, but I felt like I was at home. I got to meet several other Gold Beach Characters, of which I'm sure that I have met before, maybe in another life. They invited me to stay! Visited this restaurant after a night of drinking. The waitress quickly accompanied our party of 11, and served us coffee at olympic speed. The waitress was sharp with her jokes and made us all laugh. The veggie omelette I ordered, was not a normal veggie omelette. It was a gift from Jesus himself. I'll start with the highlight and work back to the mediocre food. My husband was sitting facing the food window. There was an order of biscuits and gravy in the window. The waitress reached across the food to get something, dragged her bare arm thru the order, wiped the gravy off her arm and left the food in the window which was then brought to our table. The other waitress was carrying table settings (napkin, fork, etc.), coughed in her right hand, then transferred the table settings to that hand and set them on a table. The dead deer over our table was dripping dust. When we arrived, the sign said Wait to be Seated. More than half the tables were empty. Bare arm waitress was stocking right at the door, sd she would help us in a minute, then 5 minutes later told us to seat ourselves. I watched her do this to 4 more parties. My scrambled egg was flat - how hard is it to fluff an egg? The pancake was that crispy type of cake that we always give to the dogs. Gravy was less than average. Biscuits were good but there was no jam on any table and as we're leaving I see all the jam baskets at the food window. We love this place. Try to go every year. Food is good and you never leave hungry! Local flavor is what we like about this place. Friendly, helpful, caring and interested. I love the breakfast and lunch and hope soon they stay open for dinner as well. I'm happy to eat all 3 meals there. Stopped here after reading Yelp reviews and a long drive looking for a good breakfast. We were both ready for breakfast but after reading the menu, my husband opted for the Friday lunch special -fish and chips. If you're there on a Friday get the fish & chips, you won't be disappointed! We live in SF Bay Area and it's surprisingly difficult to find good seafood, even fish & chips! This was the best we've had in a long time! I had the biscuits and gravy which was good too. The staff was great! Very warm and welcoming. Great table awareness. If I lived in the area I could see myself coming here on a regular basis! Definitely a place the locals frequent which is what we look for when visiting new towns. If you're looking for "egg beaters" or tofu and cafe latte, move on - this is real food for real people! For those coffee snobs out there, FYI Folgers is the #1 selling brand in the US.
